Our cozy home in the rainforest is centrally located between Volcano National Park & Hilo. It has open beam ceilings, fully equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Sleeps 7 comfortably. Enjoy cable TV, free Wi-Fi, & full laundry facilities.
We would appreciate no smoking in the house.
This was a fantastic stay and the house is really great. The owners were kind and met us promptly at the property. They had left us with loads of bottle water and various provisions.
The house is right out in the forest, down a long road - very secluded.
Thanks Steve and Mailey for hosting this awesome place. This place was a paradise in jungle. Although being in secluded place, this place had all the facilities of modern house . Every room is very well decorated and kept very clean. Kitchen was well stocked. Mailey(Steve's wife) was very welcoming host. I hope to come back and enjoy my stay again!!
My family had a wonderful time at Maile and Steve's place. Maile was very nice and meet us promptly to give us access to the house. Breakfast was great. The house was very spacious for the three of us, and we really felt home for our brief stay. We loved it!
Wonderful rain forest retreat. Off the beaten path, but easy to get to. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful especially after our long day at Volcano Natl Park The place was neat as a pin. We would highly recommend!
The Rainforest Retreat exceeded my expectations. It was spacious, clean, well appointed, and beautiful. Maile and Steve were helpful and accommodating hosts.
We were greeted with fresh flowers and a bowl of fruit. The kitchen was stocked with coffee, creamer, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, salt and pepper, pasta, rice, oil and butter, etc... The catchment water is great for cooking and bathing and we were supplied with plenty of bottled water for drinking. Our only complaint was the over use of plastic bottles for drinking water. I believe they are considering installing a 5 gallon, refillable water dispenser.
The grounds are lovely and tropical. I enjoyed the music of the Coqui frogs singing at night. We only watched the cable TV once. We enjoyed the Planet Earth videos one night as well. Otherwise we found so much to do. Between beaches, and volcanoes we explored the Mauna Kea Observatory and Waiipio Valley, The Tropical Botanical Garden, Kolekole Beach, and quaint Hilo town. We loved having the Rainforest Retreat as our home away from home.
This place is fantastic. We were a group of 5, and had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful, secluded, and very peaceful. Our hosts, Steve and Maile, were warm and welcoming, and very thoughtful (they even left us fresh fruit and muffins that we all enjoyed). We could not have been happier and hope to return in the future.
The Rainforest Retreat is absolutely amazing!!! Steve is a wonderful host. He met us upon our arrival to show us the fabulous amenities. And he had great communication with us as we planned our trip.
The home is gorgeous and such a relaxing place to stay. We were surrounded by trees, flowers, and the sounds of the forest. The two story retreat home has so much space and its really lovely to find retreat there. I highly recommend this rental!
And just as a heads up - taking the back roads to the house can make for a bumpy extended ride. Best to drive to the house via highway 11 and drive south to plumeria street.
I look forward to meeting people who are here for the first time or are frequent visitors to Hawaii. There is so much to see and enjoy and we want to help you explore and discover it all. Even if you're not into sightseeing, our home is a perfect place to just hang out and relax with beautiful natural environments or indoors with flat screen TVs, movies/cable, or books & magazines from our library. Thanks for checking us out and hope to see you on your next visit.
