Casa Maya is a wonderful, 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath Villa in a community of 42 homes. Perched on a hill, Casa Maya has an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean and Santiago Bay. A 20 minute walk brings you to miles of sandy beach where you'll find many great restaurants and artisans selling their wares. There's lots to do and see in close proximity to our area. The pool is stunning with a huge palapa for entertaining and outdoor dining. Internet and Cable TV available, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer and weekly maid service and a gardener.
We also have a large one bedroom, ocean front condo that has a futon and trundle bed and can accommodate four people. It rents for $70 per night and we will be posting this unit on airbnb very soon. Finally, we have two rooms that are available on a host basis in the home where we live, next door to Casa Maya. Pricing on these are available upon request. Casa Maya is ideal for three couples, groups of friends or larger families. Two night minimum stay. Will send detailed info about the house once the guests have confirmed booking
Interaction with Guests
If we are here, we spend quite a bit of time giving them information about restaurants and things to do and see. And, often times, we might go out for dinner with our guests.
We have just returned to Canada from a great trip to Mexico, particularly the Manzanillo area.
Our time at Casa Maya could not have been any better. Our hosts, Susan and Bill, were excellent. Everything went as planned as far as meeting and the accomodation. We absolutely loved the house and the view it had to offer. Very private, easy access to Santiage and Manzanillo. Just wonderful. Thank you so much. We look forward to renting your accomodation again soon.
The host sent us lots of useful information prior to arrival which assisted us in getting oriented and doing some trip planning. The location is very peaceful and scenic, however, this comes at the price of being a bit out of the way. A car is a must to get around and thankfully the host was able to provide us with an option for transportation.
While we were there the internet service was inconsistent.
The pool area is nice and private and well maintained by the grounds keeper.
Staying at Casa Maya was one of my best experiences traveling around my own country. We were a big group and had a great time there: swimming pool, great view, location and lots of colours around. The house is huge, and Susan was a great host, with lot of hospitality and attentions. We didn't have any problem, was a great trip!!
We shared a short family trip to the sun with our adult children. The house is fantastic. Large, comfortable and very well-equipped, with views to die for. It's location in a private hilltop community means it is very quiet and the only nighttime noise you'll hear are the crickets, cicadas and other night creatures. Quite a lovely chorus to fall asleep to. In the morning the hummingbirds battling over the flowering orchid trees is a treat to watch as the sun rises over the hills.
Because of its location you absolutely need to have access to a vehicle. There is not much that is truly within walking distance especially once the sun goes down. The hosts do make a vehicle available at a very reasonable rate which is great. Unfortunately during our stay there were car troubles which made getting about somewhat more challenging on occasion. Our hosts did make their personal vehicle available to us when we were really stuck and needed to get out to buy some groceries or go for a meal. We also really appreciated that they were proactive in trying to resolve our transportation issues and made it clear that without question we had the use of their car.
Although our 20-something children enjoyed themselves and particularly loved lounging about in the private pool there were times when it was clear that they might have enjoyed access to a little more beach time and a livelier night scene. (Hanging around with the parents can wear thin apparently!) With that in mind I would think twice about suggesting this location for that age group. For people of our age (mid 50s) this was a perfect retreat. In fact two or three couples couldn't find a better place to chill for a week or two in the sun.
For anyone looking for a quiet retreat away from it all this would be a fabulous choice and Susan and Bill are wonderful hosts. They are there to provide you with helpful suggestions and lively conversation (they live in the house just below Casa Maya) but they also give you your space and just let you relax and enjoy.
The surrounding area has some interesting things to see and do. The little town of Santiago has everything you need and feels like a town where real people live. Both Barra de Navidad and Melaque can provide the beach and the tourist scene. The city of Colima is an interesting colonial town that deserved more time than we had. Don't waste too much time getting to and walking around Manzanillo itself. It's an industrial port city with more shoe stores per capita than I've ever seen.
Our stay at Casa Maya was great. Susan is a very nice person and she made sure we had everything we needed for our stay.
The house is big and very nice. We went on a holiday so the beach was very crowded, but it wasn't a problem because the pool was so nice, we stayed there most of the time.
The view is really amazing, it was a very relaxing vacation, we didn't want to leave! Thanks Susan =)
Amazing trip to Mexico! I can't say enough positive things about our stay at Casa Maya. The property itself is beautiful, with plenty of space and stunning views of the ocean and lots of great areas for lounging around outside and enjoying the perfect Manzanillo weather. The pictures seriously do not do justice to the million-dollar view. Susan was a fantastic host. She provided us with all sorts of advice for where to eat out, gave us tips on where to snorkle, picked us up from the airport, and did everything she could to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
If you're looking for a fun, relaxing way to spend some time in the sun, look no further.
My partner and I are seasoned travellers and have just completed 5 back to back home exchanges in the Netherlands, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Turkey and Italy. He is a retired Chemistry professor and I'm a Mortgage Banker. We're from the States but our primary residence is now Manzanillo, Mexico. We have several wonderful properties in Manzanillo that we're sure you will find even more appealing than the photos. More than likely, we will be there during your visit and we love sharing all the wonderful things available in our area.
