Hagal farm is a place for those who love nature and quiet. It's 'in the middle of (almost) nowhere' surrounded by lovely gardens, to hang out when the weather permits. On a rainy day , you can light a fire or you can sit in the large conservatory and still feel that you're outside and enjoy the beautiful views of the distant Bantry Bay and the Mealagh Valley . In summer you may enjoy the organic grapes, hanging overhead, the old vine covers the whole ceiling of the conservatory!!
The house is old, has character,is not flawless, but has all modern conveniences and loads of living space! Be welcome!

Interaction with Guests
We do not have a lot of interaction with guest, we want you to feel free and make the house your home for the time you are there.
We live nearby though and are available when you need us.
If you don't want to move around the bigger country side, and just stay put at Hagal Farm, no worries, we have lovely walks , through the forest, into the mountains or along the river, on our doorstep.
Please be aware that this place is 8 miles out from Bantry. There is only public transport once a week to the local market in Bantry town on the Friday. You need a car to get around. If not, our friend Vincent is always available with his taxi service, he knows the route to Hagal Farm well!
Other Things to Note
The main house has 3 bedrooms: room 1 down stairs with a single and a double bed, upstairs room 2 with double futon and 2 single beds, room 3 with bunk bed and 2 single beds. A large conservatory with piano, a large living room with open fire and a large kitchen. There are 2 bathrooms; one wit a jacuzzi bath, and an extra separate toilet in the house.
The farmhouse is our old family home and we still care a lot about it. Feel welcome to bring your friends or family and have a party, but please respect the house and its gardens. Much work and love has gone into it over the last 35 years!
No smoking, pets allowed, but please do let us know beforehand and they are not allowed to roam free.
About the Host, Janny
My name is Janny and I have lived in Ireland for over 30 years.
When we arrived in Ireland 35 years ago,we bought an old farmhouse, and made a good attempt at living as self sufficient as possible. A rewarding experience for ourselves and our 4 kids! We also grew organic vegetables for the local market.
I became involved in holistic therapies and had a Holistic therapy centre in Bantry town for years. Our slowly expanding farmhouse also became a place for people to receive treatments and book a room for the night to savor the experience! Our 'healing' farm was born! We loved having people around and giving them the opportunity to enjoy our lovely, relaxing space and gardens. Myself and my husband, now semi-retired!- try to create more time for ourselves, and travel as much as possible. We head off to Europe in our camper van at least once a year :). This is also the reason that we now rent out our treasured family home/ guest annex.
We invite you to come stay in our 'rustic' old farmhouse that we renovated slowly and lovingly, a project that is never really finished, there's always something to do....but it is comfortable, warm and cosy, not flawless, it was never intended to be a 5 star hotel!!
We give our guest 3 options: Rent the original farmhouse only (sleeps>10), rent the guest annex only (sleeps>8) or the whole place (sleeps>18).
We now live on the grounds of the property. Normally we do not interfere a lot with guest, we really want to give you the privacy to make the place your own, your home, for the time you are there. We are always at hand though to help out as we live nearby! Looking forward to welcome you to the Hagal Farm experience!
