Chateau Marmot is a luxurious, modern A-frame cabin within a half hour of Mount Rainier National Park, White Pass Ski Area, and some of the most breathtaking hiking on the West Coast. Amenities include a cedar hot tub, Weber gas grill, hi-fi stereo, fireplace, balcony, deck, and fire pit. We're just 2.5 scenic hours from Portland and Seattle, and we're dog friendly.

The space
Our cabin is a spacious vintage 1965 A-frame located in a working class vacation home community with a roughly 50/50 mix of weekenders and full-timers. The neighborhood consists of traditional cabins, ranch homes and trailers in roughly equal parts. You will see an occasional car and pedestrian passing by, and our neighbors are within sight, but you'll still enjoy plenty of privacy and quiet for most of the season.

Be advised that Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends in Packwood are more crowded than usual, and often noisy. Same for week of July 4th. If you're seeking peace and quiet on those holidays, we don't recommend this cabin.

The downstairs bedroom is a bunk room with three twin beds and one queen bed, located just across the hall from the bathroom. Upstairs is a master suite with a queen bed, seating area and an 8x10 balcony for morning coffee, yoga, bird watching, elk spotting or stargazing.

Our kitchen has all the mod con appliances, including a convection oven, Technivorm drip coffee maker and burr grinder, Vitamix, convection toaster oven, dishwasher, 4-burner induction cooktop, and large refrigerator & freezer.

Our living room includes a large fireplace and all built-in seating with sublime views of soaring, old growth cedars.

The maximum occupancy at this property is 5 persons. We cannot accept more than 5 under any circumstances, and no more than 5 people are allowed on the property at any given time.

My wife, Val, and I are New Yorkers who moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2013 to escape the grind and find joy in the simpler things. We bought and renovated our first cabin in 2015, then did it again in 2017...and then 2018. We're renovating our fourth cabin this year.

We host as we appreciate being hosted: We give plenty of thought to the end-to-end guest experience so that your stay is easy, frustration-free, and fun, from the second you book until checkout. We're always here in case you need us, but if we're doing it right, you'll always have everything you need.

All of our cabins feature premium amenities, including convection ovens, memory foam mattresses, Weber grills, Calphalon cookware, hot tubs, audiophile sound systems, and zippy WiFi.

As travelers, some of our favorite destinations include Japan, Spain, Mexico City, and Palm Springs. We love meeting other hosts and discovering new ways to ply our trade

During your stay

We try to combine the best features of our personal hotel and Airbnb stays as we design our cabins and your guest experience.

For us, that means we're sitting silently on the sidelines until you need us. We'll make sure you have everything you need to locate our cabin and get comfortable with minimal fuss. You don't need to contact us about your arrival or departure times, and likewise, we won't be checking in with you unless it seems helpful or necessary. We assume you'd rather just get on with the business of relaxing and enjoying our home than swap messages with us.

If you're good with that arrangement, we'd love to host you!
