Being situated at the lake edge within Whakatane means living within two seconds of a variety of wild life some domesticated and skilled at begging you for food and others more wild and shy who need coaxing to trust you. there is a walk way around the lake and the ducks will accompany you as long as you bribe them with food I love my home and my surrounds and wake each morning in paradise
Whakatane is a holiday destination and on the pacific highway. It caters for tourist visitors and has all the facilities you would expect to find. Some points of Interest are Ohope Beach The Look out, Hot Springs at Awakeri all with in twenty minutes drive by car.
One thing to remember about the Bay of Plenty is that it has very mild winters and can be enjoyed all year round

Leonie is such an amazing host who's full of passion and love! Her house is clean and has a homely feel to it. We have our privacy with the clean and big room upstairs, and the private toilet is clean and very well-kept. The towels and linen provided are all of very good quality and our bed is so comfortable! We had lovely conversations over yummy breakfasts, and she's such an inspiring person to be around!
Awesome! Leonie was so welcoming! Easy to communicate with. She let us park our car in her garage and greeted us with treats when we arrived and the best breakfast ever. She even helped us connect with a friend for fax services on a holiday. Don't miss the walk around the lake and feeding the ducks, geese and pigeons. A very positive experience. Thank you, Leonie.
We arrived later in the evening than expected however Leonie gave us a warm reception upon arrival. The room and facilities were wonderful and we had a peaceful night. Unfortunately we had to leave the following morning, after a great breakfast! Would recommend to anyone staying in the Whakatane region.
We arrived a little late due to our bike trip taking longer than planned. Leonie was very welcoming and had some lovely snack and drink for us on our arrival. She was lovely to speak to. The room was well set-up, would recommend staying here.
Leonie was a great host and made us very welcome, it was Valentine's Day and she had laid a beautiful table for us complete with chocolates and lovely chocolate roses in the bedroom. On arrival she gave us a lovely tea with fruit, cheeses etc. We chatted for ages with Leonie. The house was lovely, very clean and good size bedroom and bathroom with a lovely view of the river. It was hard to leave on our day of departure. Thank you so much Leonie we really enjoyed our stay with you and wished it had been longer. Sandra and Steve .
Leonie was so quick to respond to our request and was an excellent host. The room was perfectly clean and had a wonderful view. Breakfast was great as well.
A very lovely and cozy old house in best location. You reach the city center in just a few minutes by feet. The little lake behind her house with its ducks and birds is also very nice.
Leonie is a friendly and caring host. The breakfast was great. It's a pity we couldn't stay longer.
