About This Listing
Beautiful wooden chalet overlooking Bantry Bay on the Sheeps Head. Within 2 miles of the town centre and all it's amenities. Designed for people craving an idyllic setting to relax, but close enough to all the attractions Bantry has to offer.
The Cabin is a beautiful, welcoming natural space that is always warm and bright. Situated on the famous walking path; The Goats Path and The Wild Atlantic Way. The cabin is off the main road and enjoys a peaceful and tranquil setting overlooking the sea. It is within two miles of Bantry and one mile from The Westlodge Hotel and Leisure Centre.
The house is fully detached and is on a quiet road less than five minutes drive from Bantry town centre, where there are shops, pubs, restaurants, banks, a cinema and a very good outdoor market every Friday. Our house where we live is just next door, so if you need anything from a bowl of sugar to advice on where to go and what to do, we're right here! There is also secure parking and storage space in our garage for bikes/strollers etc.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to show you around and we have two little girls that are aged five and three, they are full of life and joy. We also have a dog and a cat. The cat is never in the cabin. You can help yourself to salad and whatever is growing in the polytunnels and around the garden.
Our neighbourhood is so nice and peaceful, we are on the Beach/Dromcloc road which is adjacent to the main road, which means we don't have the traffic of other roads. A ten minute scenic walk in one direction and you arrive at the airstrip with it's breathtaking views and ocean-side walk into town. Whilst going five to ten minutes in the opposite direction you arrive at a secluded seaside beach fed by an ambling river. You couldn't ask for more.
There is a regular bus service, Bus Eireann 236, between Bantry, and Cork. If we are home(Which we usually are) we would be happy to drop you into town. Taxi service to our house from a local taxi service is €5 should we not be available and you have no transport. It's also a lovely and scenic 35 minutes walk! :-)
We have two bicycles that you are more than welcome to use, we also have a chariot to attach to the back if you have kids, or seats that attach to the bike frame and two helmets for the children.
From Jun 1 - Aug 30, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
My husband and I stayed with Bean and Irene for 4 nights and we could not possibly say enough good things about them, their home, and their family. They were warm, welcoming, and generously hospitable. Their property is something out of a dream; the pictures do not, and could not, do it justice. We stayed 6 different places during our time in Ireland and we loved everywhere we stayed, however, Bean and Irene's place was far and away the gem of our trip. When we return to Ireland, we hope to stay with Bean and Irene again, or at least meet them for a pint.
Second trip to Bean and Irene's cabin. Absolutely great little spot. Extremely comfortable, great views, and a really nice place to go walking from and see the sights or to just relax.

I stayed at Beach Cottage with my girlfriend for 2 nights. The photos of the place don't do it justice, it's so so beautiful, we wished we could have stayed longer to soak in the views and the surroundings a little more
But it just means we will have to come back. Definitely somewhere I would recommend staying!
We had five wonderful days in Beans and Irenes cottage. It was so lovely and comfortable and even on a rainy day it was perfect to relax there in the beautiful wintergarden! Thank you for everything! Ralf and Britta
Absolutely loved the cabin on the bay! Felt at home and in a dream all at once. The views were incredible, place was clean and creative. We were met by some delightful locals as Bean was away who advised on taxi numbers, pubs and restaurants to go to. We followed all advice and had a grand night out with the locals! The doggy was lovely too. Will definitely come back. Can't wait. Thank you x
A cabin in paradise! Stunning views, very homely and just a general vibe. Bean, Irene, the kids, the dog and the cat were perfect hosts.
Bean and Irene's spot is just absolute perfection. My only regret is that we were only there for one night. So peaceful and comfortable. The beds were comfy, and we had everything we could need. Thanks for hosting us!
