Beautiful wooden chalet overlooking Bantry Bay on the Sheeps Head. Within 2 miles of the town centre and all it's amenities. Designed for people craving an idyllic setting to relax, but close enough to all the attractions Bantry has to offer.
The Cabin is a beautiful, welcoming natural space that is always warm and bright. Situated on the famous walking path; The Goats Path and The Wild Atlantic Way. The cabin is off the main road and enjoys a peaceful and tranquil setting overlooking the sea. It is within two miles of Bantry and one mile from The Westlodge Hotel and Leisure Centre.
The house is fully detached and is on a quiet road less than five minutes drive from Bantry town centre, where there are shops, pubs, restaurants, banks, a cinema and a very good outdoor market every Friday. Our house where we live is just next door, so if you need anything from a bowl of sugar to advice on where to go and what to do, we're right here! There is also secure parking and storage space in our garage for bikes/strollers etc.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to show you around and we have two little girls that are aged five and three, they are full of life and joy. We also have a dog and a cat. The cat is never in the cabin. You can help yourself to salad and whatever is growing in the polytunnels and around the garden.
Our neighbourhood is so nice and peaceful, we are on the Beach/Dromcloc road which is adjacent to the main road, which means we don't have the traffic of other roads. A ten minute scenic walk in one direction and you arrive at the airstrip with it's breathtaking views and ocean-side walk into town. Whilst going five to ten minutes in the opposite direction you arrive at a secluded seaside beach fed by an ambling river. You couldn't ask for more.
There is a regular bus service, Bus Eireann 236, between Bantry, and Cork. If we are home(Which we usually are) we would be happy to drop you into town. Taxi service to our house from a local taxi service is €5 should we not be available and you have no transport. It's also a lovely and scenic 35 minutes walk! :-)
We have two bicycles that you are more than welcome to use, we also have a chariot to attach to the back if you have kids, or seats that attach to the bike frame and two helmets for the children.
Bean and Irene were good guests and place was as described (the view is hard to describe though - awesome).
Our most favorite place yet! For so many reasons. The chalet is so warm, cozy, and full of character. The view is second to none. And the hosts were our favorite part. Such a nice family; we loved spending some time with them. This place can't be beat. Even though we arrived at 10pm, the lights were on and the gate was open. Thank you Bean and Irene for being so wonderful and welcoming!
The cabin was exactly like the photographs on Airbnb- cosy, fun, original and peaceful. It contained everything we needed. The dog was lovely too! An idyllic spot with beautiful views of the Beara Peninsula.
Thanks Bean and Irene. What a relaxing spot to unwind and what a view. We enjoyed our 3 days and the chalet had everything. Its location is great too for popping into bantry one day and over the glengarriff on another. Thanks again for making us so welcome.
Bean! Thank you for this magic night, the view when we wake up is so fabulous... Thanks to you and Irene for your patience with us and our very bad English!! See you again soon for a longer stay!
Stayed here for two nights while we were doing the one-day Introduction to Shoemaking course in 'Shoeniversity' in Bantry House. Which I'd also highly recommend! Bean our host was very good about contact beforehand and gave really good directions so it was easy to find even though we arrived late at night after a long drive. The chalet is really cute with spectacular views...pretty magical to wake up to. It's perfect for a couple of nights if you're able for climbing up to the little mezzanine bed lofts. There is a lovely terrace outside which would be great in summer for having meals outside and taking in that view.
I am a full-time musician and my partner is a Yoga teacher. We moved to West Cork in 2013 and we love it here! Such a beautiful part of the world, there is so much to see and do here. We love having people around and showing them the sights :-)
