A beautiful wooden chalet overlooking Bantry Bay on the Sheeps Head. Within 2 miles of the town centre and all it's amenities. Designed for people craving an idyllic setting to relax, but close enough to all the attractions Bantry has to offer.
The Chalet is a beautiful, welcoming wooden cabin that is always warm and bright. Situated on the famous walking path, The Goats Path and The Wild Atlantic Way. The chalet is off the main road and enjoys a peaceful and tranquil setting overlooking the sea. It is within two miles of Bantry and one mile from The Westlodge Hotel and Leisure Centre.
The house is fully detached and is on a quiet road less than five minutes drive from Bantry town centre, where there are shops, pubs, restaurants, banks, a cinema and a very good outdoor market every Friday. Our house is just next door, so if you need anything from a bowl of sugar to advice on where to go and what to do, we're right here! There is also secure parking and storage space in our garage for bikes/strollers etc.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to show you around and we have two little girls that are aged five and three, they are full of life and joy. We also have a dog, two cats and seven chickens which gives the place a sense of vibrant living and growth. You can help yourself to salad and whatever is growing in the polytunnels and around the garden.
Our neighbourhood is so nice and peaceful, we are on the Beach/Dromcloc road which is adjacent to the main road, which means we don't have the traffic of other roads. A ten minute scenic walk in one direction and you arrive at the airstrip with it's breathtaking views and ocean-side walk into town. Whilst going five to ten minutes in the opposite direction you arrive at a secluded seaside beach fed by an ambling river. You couldn't ask for more.
There is a regular bus service, Bus Eireann 236, between Bantry, and Cork. If we are home(Which we usually are) we would be happy to drop you into town. Taxi service to our house from a local taxi service is €5 should we not be available and you have no transport. It's also a lovely and scenic 35 minutes walk! :-)
We have two bicycles that you are more than welcome to use, we also have a chariot to attach to the back if you have kids.
Our stay at the cottage was great.the views and the nature were amazing. Bean and Irene have been lovely. We enjoyed the peace and quiet there very much and we are sure that we will go there again very soon.
Bean called us a half hour before our expected time of arrival to confirm if we were still on course. I was most impressed with his professionalism. When we arrived Bean greeted us personally and was most welcoming. He had the heat on in the chalet anticipating our arrival and having the place nice and cosy for us. He showed us where things were and how things worked. He knew in advance that we were really into music and so when I asked him if there were any gigs happening he had the listings and made recommendations for us. We followed his recommendations and went to Ma Murphys for the early evening session. The session was very eclectic with some very good players and singers. We sampled the fish n chips from the chipper next door and ate them while we listened to the music. Happy out! We later went to DeBarras in Clonakilty to see a band. Again, excellent. The following night and after a long (but breathtaking) walk (Poet's Loop) we stayed in Bantry and went to the Schooner to see a local Neil Young and Crazy Horse tribute band who were terrific. We had a lovely dinner in O'Connors. You just can't beat local knowledge when one wants to maximize a limited amount of time. Bean was our trump card here!
Had such a lovely time in Bantry, quiet, warm, comfortable house with amazing views. Bean and Irene were extremely accommodating and welcoming. The stairs to the bedrooms take a little negotiating but
nothing the average able bodied person can't handle! A lovely West Cork Hideaway!
Bean was very accomadating, allowing us to check in late, and checking to see that we hadnt got lost in the Wild West Cork! Apartment is loaded with charm and Bean was great in letting us know what was available in the apartment and to do locally
A quiet place in an amazing location, all is here to make a relaxing paradise, this cottage is so cosy we loved it so much as we think to come back at least every two month for week-ends ! Bean and Irene were warm and nice, moreover they gave us good advises for our sunny day !
Place was perfect. Exactly as photographed. Irene was lovely and very helpful and welcoming.
I am a full-time musician and my partner is a Yoga teacher. We moved to West Cork in 2013 and we love it here! Such a beautiful part of the world, there is so much to see and do here. We love having people around and showing them the sights :-)
