Pondok Langon is first and foremost our home. It's unique village setting and tranquil surrounds means that it works for people who are looking for a place to relax and unwind. Think rice-paddy walks, slow village life and sunsets on the balcony listening to the frog songs and overlooking the emerald-green surrounds. We seek guests who are respectful of our family compound and are keen to share life in the slower lane for a time.
Our home does not work for party-goers and all-night-longers.
There is no smoking allowed in any of the enclosed rooms on the property.
No food or drinks (other than water) allowed in the bedrooms. Waste is to be recycled in the bins provided. The property is equipped with shopping bags which we urge guests to use when shopping to avoid single-use plastic bags and help reduce Bali's huge plastic waste problem.
Breakfast is served between 8am and 9am each morning, after which the kitchen closes. If dining in, dinner must be ordered by 9am.
Alex and Yoga were both friendly and helpful hosts, assisting us with transportation arrangements even before arrival and sharing highlights of the ubud area. The villa has a pleasant and rustic feel to it, equipped with modern amenities, ensuring comfort even as we seek to escape the daily hussles of city living.
Magic rice fields. Lovely location engulfed in seas of green. The staff were very friendly and the hosts very welcoming. We loved it!
I really enjoyed staying at Pondok Langdon. Alex and the women who served us breakfast were very welcoming and friendly. The beds were very comfortable and I slept really well. The buildings made from recycled wood in traditional style beautifully designed with a lovely pool where we were invited to have a dip as soon as we arrived hot and tired from the airport. I would recommend this place and the dogs are friendly too! A great place to start our holiday in Bali .
Staying at Pondok langon right at the end of our travels was an amazing experience - as many before us have said, the setting is truly serene, overlooking the rice paddies and watching the local village activities unfold. The space itself was really unique, we loved the recycled timber, local furniture and art. The hosts and staff were very approachable and we felt like we got an insight into Balinese life. We can't wait to go back.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Pondok Langon. Our hosts happened to be travelling when we arrived but the staff made us very welcome.
The place itself was quite gorgeous. We loved the design, the use of wood, the garden, the nicely-equipped kitchen and pantry (a change from some other home-stays) the cat who'd occasionally come by to see what we were up to, and especially the dogs, Mini and Polly. For both of us, no holiday is quite complete without an agreeable dog keeping an eye on us and curling up for a snooze nearby and both dogs did their bit to make us feel included.
The upstairs deck, with fabulous views of rice fields, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, the chants from nearby temples, swifts and egrets busily hunting down prey, became our favourite place to spend a little quiet time.
The location was brilliant too; just close enough to Ubud and its attractions for quick access by hired scooter when the traffic wasn't too bad (Ubud's gridlocks can be dire), but distant enough that it was far, far more tranquil. We're both regular cyclists and runners, so Pondok Langon's location was a double bonus; a couple of nice running routes right out of the gate and easy access for the longer (and quite brilliant and highly recommended to anyone who likes to cycle) bike rides we did to the top of Batur, to Klung Klung on the SE coast and to Pemuteran via Bedugul. (Aside: We're based in India, where fighting with hosts and hoteliers who don't understand that you can't leave expensive roadbikes in the carpark is the norm -- so thank you so much for giving our bikes a nice dry, safe space, too!)
We loved the little touches, too -- the hosepipe outside to wash down our bikes and feet after a very wet ride, the super-healthy ingredients in the (quite excellent) breakfasts, and the smiles and help from your staff at all times, even when we did daft things like misplace the keys to a lock, and not least the nice bottle of chardonnay we got from our hosts on New Year's Eve.
I would recommend Pondok Langon very strongly to any of our like-minded friends who would appreciate the things that make it special.
Wow, what a beautiful setting! The location, the view, and the open structure of the house are marvellous. It is nice and quiet. We also loved the swimming pool. The breakfast was very good with a lot of choice. We stayed here a few days with our two children. Our kids loved Pollie, one if the two dogs. We were pleased we could borrow their bikes for a trip through the rice fields.
We would definately recommend the place to a couple or a family with older children. We think it is less suitable for a family with young children. This is because the second bedroom is on the ground floor, far away from the master bedroom (on the first floor on the other side of the house) and accessable for the dogs and cat that walk around.
