Everything about this apartment was perfect for our situation: my family was coming into town to visit and our apartment (on the same street as Brenda's, just a block away) was simply too small to host everyone.
I feel we really lucked out finding this apartment because now we can put our guests up here. It's SUPER AFFORDABLE. My brother and his daughter report the queen bed and twin were very comfortable, the place was immaculate and everything you could need was provided (air conditioning in this August heat, shampoo and soap if you forget yours, extra towels and blankets). The room has 2 beds, a TV and a coffee service and a mini fridge. No couch, but that wasn't missed by my family.
The location is PERFECT. Just steps from 5th Ave and all the wonderful shops and restaurants, plus subways are within decent walking distance.
I have had sketchy experiences with AirbnB hosts who don't get back to you in a timely manner or have apartments that aren't really available, so I was anticipating a painful hunt for a place for my family within walking distance of my apt, but Brenda and her son were great hosts, left us be and got back to us promptly, even allowing us to tack on one more day at the last minute.
I will definitely put up friends and family here again.
This is the cleanest and most comfortable Airbnb I've tried in New York so far! It's spacious and bright. It was big enough for 3 people, we had plenty of room. The neighborhood is also great, it's very pretty, safe and there's a lot of shops/restaurants. There's different trains around, about 10 min walk from the apartment.
There are 2 things I didn't really like though. After I booked the apartment, I was asked to pay a $50 cleaning fee. It wasn't written in the listing and not included in the price I paid to Airbnb. A $200 deposit was asked too. I think these should have been on the listing.
The second little complain I have is that there's no kitchen in the apartment. By renting a studio I thought we would have access to some plates/silverware. There were cups and plastic knives but that's it. There's a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker but not real kitchen.
Overall, it's a great studio!
Pauline thank you again for staying with us. I asked you if you wanted to cancel the booking because the cleaning and the security was an issue for you but you never replied back. Also if you wanted plates and silverware then you needed to rent a room with a kitchen. We would you wash the dishes and place them in the studio. The pictures of the studio never showed a kitchen. In the future ask the host all questions you have before booking.
As always, the studio apartment was clean, close to restaurants, Prospect Park, and great shops. One of my favorite places to stay when in Park Slope.
I stayed here with 2 friends and really enjoyed this studio apartment. There was more than enough room for the 3 of us and plenty of towels and linens. Brandon was very helpful and gave us suggestions about the neighbourhood, which had tons of little shops and restaurants. The location was close to the subway (10min walk). I would stay here again.
Departamento impecable, limpio, comodo, excelente baño y calefaccion! Ubicación excelente, barrio muy lindo y muy cerca de tres lineas de subway que te llevan a manhattan rapidisimo. Los dueños amables y educados. Gente de primera. Sumamente recomendable.
Brenda's son Brandon handled everything from helping us with directions, to making sure we were comfortable, and even took our heavy bags up the stairs. (A super nice guy!!!). The apartment was unbelieveable and the pictures don't do it justice!! High ceilings, spacious, refridgerator, flat screen with cable, super comfortable beds, flat screen and full cable, a/c, high windows, ceiling fan, etc. Had everything you need and much more!!! Beautiful parque original wood floors in a charming 1890s brownstone. In the fact, the place is on a quaint and quiet street surrounded by turn of the century brownstones...its like you stepped back in time!!! It was really gorgeous just to walk around the neighborhood!! Then you go one block in each direction and you are in the heart of everything: cool restaurants, shops, and pubs. This apartment is in the nicest part of Park Slope Brooklyn and I can't wait to stay there again!!! I give it an A+ and that is from someone who is very traveled. :-) Thank you so much Brenda and Brandon!!! - Ross Isaacs
Very happy with my stay. Would definitely go again. Brenda replied very quickly and her son Brandon met me at the door right on time. He's very sweet and nice. The place is big and bright with high ceilings -- and sparkly clean. Had every comfort I needed, plus nice views of beautiful gardens in the back, and a great location! Easy walk to the subway and nice cafes and stores all over the neighborhood. I just wish I had scheduled a tour of the historic "Old Stone House" one block away. Next time!
