These are nice people, but they did not state in their description of the room offered that it was a not a private room. Which is not very nice. The room is on the ground floor, with an entrance from the outside, but there is no door separating my room from the couple's living area. My room did not face directly into their living area, being separated only by a stairway from my room to their first floor living area with no door betwen. There was no door separating us. I could hear everything upstairs including their little dogs barking their heads off at any noise I made, even from my room and most nastily when I went up stairs to the bathroom or the kitchen. These dogs are obnoxious, loud and decidedly unfriendly to guests. The owners tried their best to quiet them, but with little success. They were nice about my use of the kitchen and generally helpful in other ways (Terry printed out my plane boarding pass.) I was very disappointed that I couldn't get the Internet on my lap top, even with Terry's help, as that was a feature that was advertised. As I don't have a smart phone, I was relying on the Internet access to retrieve and send emails. As a result of this experience, I probably wouldn't use a B and B again, unless I asked some very pointed questions about peace and quiet which, the last time I checked, was a basic legal right of any renter.
I never wrote a bad review about any commercial experience before and I don't like doing this, but I think others should be aware of my experience. If they construct a door to make the room private, it would be a lot better.
It is very unfortunate that Gerry did not share these issues with us during his stay. In response, we have edited our description regarding the lack of door to the stairs. The room itself IS very private, being on a separate floor.
Gerry’s lack of regard for others made his stay what it was; arriving 3 hours late without notifying us that he decided to take a later flight, STAMPING up and down the stairs EVERY time he used the bath or kitchen which inevitably set off our sweet, loving 5 and 8 pound pups, making a mess of the shared bathroom when he showered and then leaving it that way as if a cleaning person was expected to come in after him.
Our wifi is hi-speed and we have had no prior issues with guests’ connection. Terry attempted several times to help but in the end it was this guests’ equipment that made connecting to the internet what it was. Software was not updated and laptop was antiquated.
Our thoughts at this point are if you are looking for a cheap room to rent, please look elsewhere. This is our home, we are not a hotel and we do this because we enjoy having people stay with us...and for income. Also, if dogs are a problem for you, again please look elsewhere.
This was my first Airbnb stay, and it was exactly what I was looking for. The location of the room is so convenient to Pleasant Hill BART - it is literally a 2-minute walk away, yet you can't hear the trains from the room. I found the full-size bed to be very comfortable, and I'm pretty particular about that. The bathroom is located at the top of the stairs, and it is clean, comfortable and well-stocked with everything the traveler might need. There are two guest parking spots right outside the private entry door, which is super convenient if you have a car.
The location of the apartment is very convenient to walking trails, biking areas, transportation, and a host of really good restaurants. There are several shopping centers within a mile's drive of the apartment, should the traveler need supplies.
Terry and Michele are great hosts, and are fun people to chat with. They were warm and welcoming during my stay, and seemed genuinely interested in me. Their apartment is clean and modern, and Terry and Michele's artwork make it a really special place. They have two small dogs that are just adorable. I would absolutely recommend a stay here.
Location is very convenient with Bart station 2 minutes away. The room has plenty of space with a comfortable bed and a nice table for working. You won't have much privacy though cause the room is on the ground floor and there is no door with the upper floor, also you won't be allowed to use any closet. The hosts are very welcoming though. They will allow you use the kitchen and you can have nice conversations with them as well as ask for advices regarding the neighborhood.
The room and bath are as isolated as they can be in a Loft home. The two rooms are in essence connected by the stairs. The privacy screen at the base of the stairs functions well as a door so Guiseppe's idea of privacy is different than ours. Also, we offered him the only closet in the entire home (that is outside of the bath) but he didn't take us up on that so he really shouldn't be saying that "you won't be allowed to use any closet". There are several racks in the room for hanging clothing and since we aren't set up for a long term guest (over 2 weeks) it works out fine for most of our guests.
I enjoyed staying here! It was interesting to see the transit community here, it really is very close to the BART. The neighborhood is peaceful. There are only a few restaurants, but there's a very good one called Heavenly Bistro. The room was comfortable and I had the first floor to myself, and was able to do my laundry. The bathroom is just up the stairs from the first floor. I had the shower to myself during my stay.
I enjoyed visiting with the hosts. Great people. I also enjoyed meeting their dogs, their chihuahua was unlike any dog I'd ever met. Highly recommended.
Terry and Michele were very welcoming and their room was clean and spacious.
