Interaction with Guests
I am not always home when my guests arrive, but I do come to greet them when I get there, and introduce them to the area. I am available to answer questions or make suggestions at my guests' request.
Field is a tiny remote mountain village, removed from the hustle and bustle of this popular tourist destination
Field is only accessible by private vehicle.
We loved Field and Helen's place and will definitely return.
The old church guesthouse is a lovely basement suite, totally private and very comfortable. Helen was a wonderful host who answered all our questions - even when we came knocking on her door one morning! Very tidy and had everything we needed, would definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting to visit the area.
We enjoyed our stay at theThe Old Church House. It was very clean with everything we needed to make meals. The beds were great and we all slept very well. As we were in Field in the middle of winter (and it was cold!!!) it was nice to be able to adjust the thermometer to just the right temperature after a hard days skiing at Lake Louise which is only 15-20 minutes away. Looking forward to staying again!
A very nice apartment, perfect for base camp trips to Banff, Lake Louise, the Icefields Highway, Yoho National Park, hiking, backpacking, etc. Beautiful location, quiet town in a river valley, west side at the base of Kicking Horse Pass and away from the insanity and crowds of Banff. Lots of light, nice little kitchen, books and resources on the local area and Helen will help you, too.
Field occasionally loses electrical power due to storms, etc. We lost power from 8-6 one day while we were there.
Helen will tell you to buy groceries in a larger town before arriving in Field. Do so if you're planning to cook some of your own meals.
The visitor center for the park is outstanding.
helen, it was awesome to stay at your place and explore the rockies. it is such a nice, calm guestapartment, where you fell yourself at home. well equipped flat with everything you need.
see you soon :-)))
This was a lovely, quaint stay in a small town, nestled at the foot of the BC Mountains, close to many outdoor attractions. The town has the bare essentials, but I would suggest stocking up in Golden or other nearby city before you arrive as it is a bit of a trek to the nearest market. The 2-bedroom suite is very welcoming, as you descend the steps; the host has your name written at the entrance. The inside is spacious, and well decorated especially for that adventurer and historic spirit. The amenities include WiFi, Cable TV, and fully stocked kitchen, which I found useful. The host Helen was very kind and considerate, and made arrangements for my arrival, and after meeting provided extra maps of the surrounding NP, and info books for my interest in hiking trails. I felt at ease and at home while residing in this converted suite, and would reserve again if given the opportunity.
About the Host, Helen
I have lived in Field for more than 20 years. I love the immediate access to the mountains and the village lifestyle.
I hike in the summer and cross-country ski in the winter.
I also love to travel and do so when I can.
