About This Listing
Located on beautiful Anderson Island in the south Puget Sound and accessed by ferry. A great family-friendly place to stay if you want to get away from it all and get back to nature. This room is in a home located on a small working farm.
This space easily sleeps 4 on uncommonly comfortable fold-out beds (seriously - - these are fitted with custom-sized toppers and are uber-comfy!)
Guests have access to a shared bathroom, washer & dryer and coffee & toast in the morning.
Interaction with Guests
Guests are encouraged to visit the farm, sample seasonal veggies and berries from the garden and visit our livestock. We have two Australian Shepherds who live in the house as well - - very friendly pups.
Anderson Island has a population of about 1500 year-round residents that 'booms' to 3500 in the summer months. It's a great place to hide away but convenient enough to use as a home base for excursions to Seattle, Tacoma or Olympia. From this property you are a 5 minutes from walking trails, the beach, the lake (great swimming!) and the ferry terminal.
Make sure you check the Pierce County ferry schedule - - our limited sailings make planning your arrival time essential!
Once you're here you'll find that this is a very walkable/bikeable island.
Other Things to Note
This room is on the second floor, so please keep that in mind if mobility is an issue for you or your companions.
We had an amazing time staying at the Puget Sound Hideaway! Rebecca and her family were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. We loved chatting with them, though they were also very conscientious about giving us as much space as we wanted. The room was more spacious than we imagined and the 4 of us were quite comfortable there. We are so grateful to them for bringing us into their home and giving us a chance to visit Anderson Island! It was the perfect getaway and I hope to return some day. Thank you for the fabulous time!
This was a fantastic island to get away for a few days. Rebecca and the family were so welcoming and accommodating during our entire stay. We really had a restful and adventurous weekend exploring the island and playing with the animals on the farm. The farm fresh eggs for breakfast were our absolute favorite! We even stayed in for one of the nights and the family was wonderful company for us. They allowed us to bring our little puppy and were very gracious with having her run around.
Our stay at Rebecca and Dave's farm was amazing! They made my sisters and I feel right at home, the room was lovely and beds were very comfortable! The island is very beautiful and peaceful as well. I highly recommend staying with Rebecca and Dave and their family!
Rebecca and Dave and their lovely children were excellent hosts! We were looking for a short getaway from Seattle where we could bring our pup and our stay on Anderson Island was perfect. Luckily for us, the kids were on spring break (like ours) so they showed us around the island which our son loved. My favorite part was staying on a working farm and being able to see and hear the animals. The farm fresh eggs for breakfast were pretty amazing too. This is a great get-away place with hosts that are able to perfectly know how much interaction you are looking for. We'll be back!
Staying with Rebecca and her family was the highlight of our weekend vacation to Anderson Island. The family is so welcoming, interesting to talk to and fun to be with. We felt very at ease in their home. Our five year old daughter enjoyed spending time with their daughters, collecting chicken eggs, feeding the chickens, petting the cat and a baby chick. She didn’t want to go home. Their house is beautiful and the guest room is very large. We highly recommend this hide-away. The 3 food establishments on Anderson Island are very good and affordable-cheaper than eating in Seattle.
My stay at the Puget Sound Hide-Away was just lovely! Host Rebecca was speedy in responding to my same-day request and clear and up-front about the check-in and check-out times that would work. Their home is beautifully decorated and very clean, even with their several friendly pets. The pull-out bed was very comfortable and the vaulted ceiling and big windows made it feel like a real getaway.
I was greeted warmly by everyone and it was clear I could chat or keep to myself as I desired. Fresh, "happy" eggs from the chickens on the farm and homemade jam were a special treat at breakfast.
Thanks for a great stay!
We wish we could give infinity stars. We couldn’t have dreamed up a more perfect beginning to our very first “just for fun” family vacation with our three small children. This smart, worldly, down to earth family is so welcoming, relaxed and easy to be with, we felt as though we had come to our own family’s home. On top of the embrace of their gracious hospitality, their pretty, roomy, immaculate home in its island setting is an essay in serenity. The house is nestled back a ways from a quiet tree-lined road with the farm spreading behind, surrounded by forest. The upstairs room is a large, airy “bonus” type room with comfy beds and a view of the farm and forest. We woke every day to the smell of coffee, yummy jams and toast and delightful conversation. Rebecca and her family would have given us as much respectful privacy as we wanted, but we enjoyed their company so much that we fell into a delightful routine of lively conversation and family fun that was by far the highlight of our stay. It was hard to say goodbye – we hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
About the Host, Rebecca
Happy and busy farmer/accountant/mom-of-2 who loves travel, good food, tear-jerker movies and conversations that go to the wee hours. Dave and I love our farm and our home but we also love to immerse ourselves in other cultures and experiences. We want to show our daughters that there is SO much more out there than our own little corner of the world; travel can be hard to carve out of our schedules, so we love the idea of inviting the world to stay with us, even if it's only for a day or three.
