About This Listing
My place (and soon to be your home) is in one of the best locations in Nairobi.
Quiet neighborhood, 2 minutes walk to Nairobi Arboretum park, safest area as it is across the road from State House and a 10 minute walk to the city center.
Free WiFi included.
Cozy apartment, tastefully furnished to make you feel at home. Your room is private and lockable. You'll have free high speed wireless internet and a mobile phone with a pre-paid local card as an option.
The apartment is surrounded by a large garden with beautifully aged, protective trees. It is on a private road with minimal traffic that leads to the park where you can enjoy walks, runs, quiet time, monkey sightings or just discover the park.
In contrast to the quiet neighborhood, the city center and main business district is a 10 minute walk away. Here, you will get what you need from banks, ATM services, forex bureaus, supermarkets and other shopping areas, chemists, travel agents and airlines, bus and train services, restaurants, bars, cafés, offices, 3D movie theater, schools e.t.c. Every Saturday the Maasai Market ( for Kenyan curios and artifacts) comes to the city center. Here you will have a plenty of options for gifts and souvenirs as well as traditional clothing.
The heavily guarded State House (the President's residence) is across the road which makes this a well secured area. You couldn't have asked to be in a better neighborhood.
You will have access to the living and dinning areas, kitchen and bathroom. These are shared areas within the house. The only area not accessible to you will be my bedroom.
Interaction with Guests
I am available to offer advice and recommendations on things to do and see in Nairobi and generally Kenya.
Areas around: The Nairobi Arboretum park, National Museums of Kenya, City Center, Westlands by night and day, State House area, Nairobi city view point and Uhuru national park.
If you will not have a chance to go on safari, visit the Nairobi National Park for the game drive. It is a 20 minute drive away and you will see lions, elephants, rhinos, zebra, antelopes, buffalo, cheetah, leopard, hyenas, warthogs, many more animals and more monkeys.
It takes 35 minutes from the airport except during heavy traffic hours. Major shopping malls and hospitals are a short drive away. I can arrange a taxi pick-up for you from the airport at $32 and you can use your local mobile to call a taxi whenever you require.
Public transport is available in the city center, a 10 minute walk away. However, you may call a taxi (contacts which I can provide) or a motor-taxi.
Free ample parking is available.
Other Things to Note
I have a Mini Pinscher pet dog who lives with me. He is well behaved, calm and makes for good company if you wish.
Free cleaning services are available if you stay 7 days and longer or at a moderate extra charge if less than this period.
Jacquie's house was perfectly beautiful, and her attention to detail and consideration was evident at every turn. She was out of town when I arrived, which gave opportunity to just relax and get some alone time (hammock on a balcony, anyone?) Unfortunate, though, once I met her, because she is so charming and warm that I would have gladly spent more time with her! She has recommendations for everything, and you will leave her house with much more information than you had at arrival (even if she is not home: she has typed up some tips, etc, and leaves guidebooks and maps on the bedside table. Not to mention a local cell phone to borrow!) Her neighborhood is lovely, and the jaunt to the neighboring arboretum is a perfect way to spend some hours. I also had an easy time finding groceries in walking distance.
I contacted Jacqui based on a (glowing!) recommendation from a friend who had previously stayed with her.
Unfortunately, Jacqui wasn't in Nairobi for my stay so I wasn't abe to meet her. However, she was very flexible when I contacted her about my booking and she let me stay in her place despite her being away. She arranged for the keys to be available when I arrived and left a manual of useful information (including local reliable taxi drivers). She also left a phone with a local sim for my use.
Jacqui's flat is really lovely and the location very good. The room is perhaps a bit small for two people but the flat is open and has a balcony and outdoor space.
Even though Jacqui was away she kept in contact with me to ensure I had arrived ok etc. She also provided me with tourist information that I asked about.
A really great host, flat and location.
We enjoyed very much staying in Jaqquis nice place. It was easy to get there and The sorrouidings felt safe and nice. She was not home at The moment I was there but she Kent in touch and was so willing to help with anything. Would gladly go there again.
Jacqui must be the nicest, warmest and kindest host there is. She waited for us upon arrival after midnight and she was never more than a phone call or text away whenever we needed something. She became flexible to our plans and offered to take us around with her to her gym and pool on the day her space lost power due to a major rain storm which brought down the electricity lines in her neighborhood.
Her apartment is truly in a safe location across the street from the Presidential residence and a mere 15 minute walk to the city center. Her place was absolutely beautifully decorated, reflecting her own personal travels and taste with a balcony on the front side facing the compound so that you could look out and enjoy a nice breeze. Her kitchen is stocked with all you could need to make your stay as personal as you need it to be. We felt very safe with the security at her apartment and were able to walk out and around whenever we wanted.
I would definitely recommend staying with Jacqui if you want to be close to Nairobi city centre, avoid the infamous traffic and want to be in an area where you'll feel like you actually living in Nairobi. Jacqui is also well traveled, so she knows a lot about other East African countries in addition to offering insight into excursions to do while in Kenya. Over all I highly recommend Jacqui's place for a couple or a single person. I would definitely stay here next time I travel to Nairobi! Thank you Jacqui for making our time in Nairobi wonderful!
My wife and I recently stayed with Jacqui on our 100 day journey from Cairo to Cape Town and her place felt like a home away from home. She was a wonderful host who took care of everything from arranging transport, providing us with a mobile phone and recommending tours and places to eat. Since this was our first Air BnB experience we were a little uncertain about what to expect. Based on our experience with Jacqui, we will definitely be using Air BnB again! I highly recommend a trip with Lion on his motorcycle tour of Nairobi that Jacqui will happily arrange for you.
Jacqui was a great host, she made us feel most welcome. Accommodations were very nice with a balcony overlooking a lovely yard. She had a cell phone we could use and an extensive list of people for transport and sightseeing. The building has a manned gate so we felt secure and comfortable. Her sweet dog Prince was quite charming as well!
