Great neighborhood, close to San Francisco and transportation, lovely accomodations. Come enjoy a stay in Oakland!
Large, lovely apartment-like accommodations with private entrance, private bath, kitchenette, and sitting area in a wonderful California Craftsman house. Located in the heart of Oakland's lively Rockridge District, with great shopping and restaurants. One block from BART, easy on-street parking, laundry on site, refrigerator and microwave in unit. The room is spacious, quiet, with soft light, new carpeting, a TV, and a comfortable real bed. Can be two twin beds, or one double bed (see photos), depending on your needs. A second bedroom is available at a nightly rate of $40 a night..
Access to a sunny back yard with outdoor seating and barbecue that you are welcome to use.
Rockridge is truly a special area -- the streets around this house are interesting, flat, and very walkable. College Avenue is one of the nicest shopping districts in Oakland with world class foods, great clothing and book stores, and cafes. BART, the local subway, runs only a block away, making it an easy, affordable 20 minute ride into the heart of San Francisco. You can also take BART easily to and from the airport. We are very near Berkeley and the University of California as well. An unbeatable location!!
Your (friendly) dog is welcome, for an additional fee of $20/night. The backyard is completely secure, and my dog Luka loves company.
Come enjoy a cozy Rockridge getaway and explore all the Bay Area has to offer. I'd love to have you,
Interaction with Guests
There is a separate entrance so you can be completely private. If, however, you feel like coming up for a glass of wine or tea, that would be lovely! Your choice.
Smoking is ok on the patio only, please.
The laundry area is shared space, but I will check with you before using it.
This was my first time ever using Airbnb and based on this experience I will be using Airbnb again and stay with Amy again if I need to visit Oakland or San Francisco in the future. I am going to repeat many of the things already said by others. On our first meeting Amy gave me all the basic facts I needed and offered local knowledge of things I might like to see and do which I would never have found in any listings magazine.
I needed a place at short notice as a place to work from for a few days, having a microwave and a fridge meant I could do my breakfasts and little snacks when I needed during the day, in the evening, there are so many places nearby within less than a 10 or 15 minute walk at very reasonable cost there is no need to cook. There is a Trader Joes less than 10 minutes walk away.
As I was working, having internet access was essential, internet access via Wifi was great, better than many hotels, no problems using VPN.
Amy's place is pleasant and well-located near the BART station and the food, drink, and shopping of College Ave. The pictures nicely represent the space. Although it's a basement apartment, the windows are reasonably large and the space is colorfully painted so it feels bright. Amy herself was welcoming, as was her friendly dog. I had everything I needed for a good visit to the Bay Area, and I would stay here again.
Amy was wonderful and her place was perfect for my needs. I loved staying in the heart of the Rockridge neighborhood. I wandered along the back streets looking at the beautiful gardens in front of almost every home.
My sister and I stayed at Amy's while visiting our other sister in Oakland. Amy was not home when we first got there, but all of her instructions were easy and spot on. Later that night we were greeted by Amy, which added a nice personal touch. The basement room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Also, having access to a washer/dryer came in very handy. We would definitely stay here again!
Amy left us a welcoming note with instructions as to where to go and where to find things. Her friendly dog greeted us. She arrived somewhat later.
Amy's basement apartment fit the bill for our holiday visit. Amy wasn't home when we checked in, but her dog Luka welcomed us warmly, and it was easy to get settled in. The convenient location near BART and Zipcars made it very easy for us to get there from/to the airport, and around to our various family gatherings. Even though the house is close to the highway, trains and a high-traffic shopping district, the environment was pretty quiet, and I had no problems concentrating or sleeping. It was great to have a private entrance, so we could come and go and not disturb the rest of the house.
The bed (made up as one large bed) was very comfortable. The wi-fi was very reliable, which was important for both my husband and I, as we work remotely... which also made the desk/table with two chairs a plus! There isn't a lot of natural light, but that was expected, given that we were in the basement. No problem though... when we needed to see the sky, we just took a walk to one of the many cafes or restaurants. The neighborhood feels very safe to walk around in.
We very much appreciated the flexible check-out time, as we had a late flight out. Thanks again, Amy!
Amy made us feel very comfortable after a long trip to Oakland and San Francisco area. We stayed there for 9 days and the accommodation was very convenient, close to BART station and Berkeley University. The bed was comfortable, wi-fi superb, and we can only say all the best for Amy and her apartment.
