Mike met us at the apartment and was very kind. He gave us a full tour of the location and instructed us on how to use things. The apartment even comes with a full book of useful information that they've written for the guests. We stayed on the second floor for 1 month. A housecleaner came each week, as well.
Everything worked well. The kitchen came with good appliances like a blender and a coffee-maker (which we used almost every day). The bed was very comfortable. The laundry machines on the terrace were convenient. There isn't a whole lot of sunlight that reaches the terrace, but the view of town is pretty remarkable. We aren't really big TV watchers, but having a TV and getting to practice our Spanish listening skills was an unexpected plus. As Mike will tell each guest, the shower can get obnoxiously hot, and we never quite mastered the perfect knob adjustment for the ideal temperature (it seemed to have a mind of its own sometimes). Overall, it was a good place to stay, but it's good to know ahead of time that you'll be in a quiet neighborhood about 15 minutes from downtown. The immediate area doesn't have a whole lot of things to do, but there are a few little restaurants and corner-markets nearby if you don't want to make the big walk.
Mike and Ana made everything easy- even though they were on vacation they arranged for someone to let us in. All the instructions are clear and complete. The apartment is perfect - just the right size for 2, very clean, and everything that you need to make simple meals is provided. The best part is the view from the rooftop terrace which is stunning, especially at sunset. It's a 20-30 minute walk to get into the heart of the historic center, or a cheap bus ride, but the view is worth it.
Mike was very helpful throughout and clearly communicated with me throughout the entire booking process. The space is as shown online and the space is wonderful. Mike provided great instructions on arriving to Guanajuato along with a lovely web guide to the City. Its a fun walk down to the Historic Center. I would definitely stay here again.
Mike was the perfect host with the perfect apartment. He communicated very well with us and provided all necessary information for our stay. The apartment was very comfortable and the bed was bliss! They also provided a full range of necessities for our stay which was very much appreciated, such as cooking oil, coffee, cling wrap, little things but they make life easier. Even provided was a computer and cellphone if required. It was a lovely 20 min or so walk to the centre and sometimes we'd catch a 40 peso cab home. Sometimes the neighbours are a bit noisy but then you must expect this anywhere in Mexico.
my wife and i chose mike and ana's based on the strong ratings. our experience leads us to join with others who have enjoyed staying there. mike greeted us at the beginning of our stay and gave us all the particulars. the apt is spotless, and we especially appreciated the comfortable bed, hot showers and filtered water....oh, and watching the coronation of the new super bowl winners on their tv!
gto is a vibrant city; lots to do and see. we especially enjoyed an evening meal at a new restaurant, los campos. this apt is well located; you can walk downtown, although taxis and the local bus are within half a block.
thanks, mike and ana for an enjoyable week!
