Originally a 1 bedroom 1870 cottage that has been added on to over time , it sits at the base of the hills facing North and gets all day sun. The road and the river used to be the main routes to and from Dunedin with nearby Lake Waihola being classed as a "Port" with wool and stock transported out to the Port of Dunedin and supplies shipped back.
The house has been extensively renovated throughout but keeps its old world charm.
