1880 cottage fully renovated. Warm and inviting and a great place to base yourself to explore Adelaide. Very private Queen room and Double room with bathroom upstairs. Carpark, bikes, easy taxi access as well as free city bus 100m away.
Renovated character cottage in a quiet one-way street which still has the charm of an old cottage but now includes every modern convenience. This gorgeous cottage comes with a friendly but not intrusive host to help you get the most out of your stay in Adelaide.
Upstairs there is a large, bright queen bedroom with a huge walk-in wardrobe and a small balcony. The second bedroom is a double room with a large built-in wardrobe. There is a gorgeous 2-way bathroom between the bedrooms. The 2 bedrooms are only ever rented to either singles, doubles or families within one group, so the bathroom is never shared with strangers.
Downstairs there is a warm and inviting lounge, kitchen and dining area with a relaxing outdoor courtyard garden.
Breakfast is provided, i.e.choice of cereals, fresh fruit, juice, yoghurt, toast (with numerous toppings), biscuits, and eggs and bacon if desired. Coffee, tea, chai and hot chocolate (with marshmallow, of course) are available at all times. Your provisions are there for you to prepare for yourself at any time that suits you.
Welcome bottle of wine on arrival.
Your laundry can be done for you at no extra charge, or you can do it yourself, if you prefer.
All facilities are exceptionally clean and of a high standard.
Free Wi-Fi, 2 TVs, piano (actually a pianola), outdoor courtyard garden for relaxed breakfast, late night drinks or BBQs with friends.
The kitchen and laundry are shared areas, but guests are welcome to use pantry items and to treat my home as their own.
I provide bikes for easy access to Fringe and local events. There is off-street parking for 2 cars if needed.
Fluffy towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash provided.
If you have forgotten anything, such as umbrellas or coats, I am happy to loan these to you!
Interaction with Guests
Minimal interaction, as my bedroom, bathroom and lounge are at the front of the house. I work long hours so guests often have the house to themselves. But I'm there if and when you need me.
A quiet one-way street in the best residential area in Adelaide CBD, within easy walking distance to a huge variety of restaurants, theatres, pubs and markets - you are spoiled for choice!
The beautiful Adelaide parklands (both natural and cultivated) are close by for early morning walks as well as a tranquil Japanese garden 400m away.
A library, a pharmacy, a supermarket and many more conveniences are just around the corner.
The location is ideal for business trips, short holidays or for longer stays for travellers wishing to get to know Adelaide and environs.
My location is so close to all the major attractions that it is possible to walk to most things. I have 3 bikes available for loan (best way to get around Adelaide). As well, there is free public transport 100 metes away which gives you a chance to get a snapshot of Adelaide and North Adelaide. I can accommodate 2 off-street car parks, if needed.
Guests are encouraged to relax and enjoy all the house. The usual "outside for smoking" applies and no pets. Generally I do not accept families with small children due to the stairs and set-up of the house. However, exceptions can be negotiated.
My initial hesitations about Airbnb immediately disappeared after meeting Meredith, my host. She was warm, friendly and welcoming. It was like staying at a friend's. I was impressed that Meredith paid close attention to details to enhance my comfort and she was almost like a "personal butler" during my entire stay. The property was also pretty and cosy; just as advertised. I had easy access to Hutt Street, less than a 5 minutes walk, with so many options on F&B outlets. Many Thanks Meredith, for making my 1st Airbnb stay a wonderfully memorable experience.
We absolutely loved our stay at Meredith's home, she made us feel very welcome. The home is beautiful with everything you could possibly need and the location is fantastic. Meredith is a delightful host who cares so deeply for her guests, she goes the extra mile in everything she does. My hubby and I enjoyed borrowing Meredith's bikes and riding into the city via the spectacular parks and gardens, Adelaide is such a beautiful city. Then of an evening we could simply walk down to Hutt St, fine dine and walk home. Couldn't have hoped for anything better. We hope to come back some day and when we do, we will most certainly chose to stay here. HIGHLY recommend.
Thanks so much for your heartfelt review. I think we are kindred spirits in so many ways. I wish you happiness and contentment in whatever you do - I am sure it will be a full and rich life - I can't see either of you sitting around, twiddling your thumbs! Give my love to Ada xx
We had a lovely time staying with Meredith in her house. The décor is artistic, eclectic and beautiful, the standard of cleanliness extremely high, and the lovely host, Meredith, is so very warm and welcoming. Our family felt very comfortable during our four nights staying in the cottage – the food and wine that Meredith provided were exceptional –it was like staying with family. The ensuite bathroom upstairs is spacious, there’s plenty of storage space for luggage and clothes, the beds are comfortable and there are even plenty of books and DVDs to enjoy if you feel like it. Favourite parts were tinkling on the piano, sharing some fresh sourdough bread that a neighbour had baked, enjoying a lovely red wine with the delightful Meredith, and eating breakfast outside in the courtyard. It was a peaceful, lovely break. Thanks again :D
Our stay with Meredith was absolutely perfect! Meredith is not I LY the perfect host, but our room was absolutely beautiful, even more so than what the pictures and descriptions tell. Meredith clearly takes a lot of pride in making her guests feel welcomed and special. Her attention to details, such as a welcome chilled bottle of wine, a reserved shelf of goodies in the fridge and pantry, and handwritten notes in the morning for suggestions of activities, made our stay exceptional. She was kind enough to loan her two bikes to visit the city during our stay, which I have to say is the best way to see Adelaide! The location of her home is in a wonderful district of city centre, with many great restaurants and shops at short walking distance. But above and beyond all this, it is the open heartedness with which she welcomed us in her home that made our stay so memorable and special. We cannot recommend this place enough!
I had a wonderful time while you and Sabrina stayed in my house for 10 weeks. You were the perfect house guests and I feel it was a privilege meeting you. Your calmness and sense of well-being is inspirational. You and your family are welcome any time. Sending you and Sabrina an Aussie hug.
Meredith made us feel so welcome in her home. It is a wonderful space, beautifully and creatively decorated. Thank you Meredith and Olivia (and Charlie the dog) for letting us share it. It is definitively a home not just a house. Great situation just off Hutt Street. Close to everything but very quiet. Hope to stay again one day on an Adelaide visit.
After a long drive it was lovely to find a gorgeous home to stay at for 2 nights. Merediths daughter welcomed us and made us feel comfortable. Really close to the cbd and a great base in Adelaide. Meredith.
whom we met the day after. .. had left us a great assortment of breakfast foods AND a bottle of wine. Even though we didn't stay long we had a great experience and would recommend Merediths lovely home.
I love my life, my kids, my job and I also love this new venture called AirBnB which enables me to meet such diverse people. I get a lot of pleasure from offering my guests a great experience here in Adelaide, and I feel my life is enriched by the interaction.
Travel, good food and wine, languages and other cultures, movies and the outdoors would be top of my list.
