Rated #1 Property in New York Central Park

"We had a grand time in NYC and your condominium was perfect! The location is outstanding and the condo spacious and comfortable. Thank you for letting us stay there! We left the apartment as we found it, and the kitchen items are washed. Your tips were most helpful -- Grom was wonderful and Whole Foods was very convenient. Thank you for a lovely place to stay. We would definitely like to stay there again when we return to New York." - From Family of 2, July 12, 2014

Stay in the Jumeirah Essex House, on the doorstep of Central Park, and enjoy hotel services.

The luxurious Central Park Suite typically books for $1295 per night directly with the Jumeirah Essex House. It is now available for a limited time for 75% off for just $295/night - which is the lowest price on the internet. Spacious, clean, quiet, and convenient! For a limited time only, book a stay of 1 month or longer and save even more. It comes fully furnished with top of the line amenities including fresh linens and towels, an entire set of brand new bath and spa accessories from Cornelia Essentials, furniture from Ethan Allen, a 40 inch Samsung flat screen TV with Chromecast, and wireless broadband internet. There is also a beautiful kitchen and utensils for cooking, in case you would like to eat in, stocked with a brand new General Electric refrigerator and a classic Subzero refrigerator, Miele microwave and electric stove. The spacious Central Park Suite features a queen sized bed and is over 720 sq ft (66 sq m) in size. It is a condo within a hotel, and it is my home, and professionally cleaned by the Jumeirah Essex House.

* 1 block from Time Warner Center, Fifth Avenue, and Whole Foods
* Full service spa, gym, concierge services are included.
* Everything you would expect from a hotel.

The entire apartment will be yours when you stay here. You will be located in the heart of Manhattan right on Central Park which is one of the safest areas in town. It is also one of the most convenient places in town, because there are 2 subway lines just outside, the N/R/Q/W line and the F/V line. Time Warner Center which has brand name shops and world class restaurants like Masa and Per Se is right next door, and so is Trump Tower which is the home of Jean Georges and Fifth Avenue, the shopping mecca of New York, is just a block away. For couples with kids, be sure to visit the Central Park Zoo where there are lots of activities for kids.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the rate calculated?
The rate is for 2 people plus $50/night for any additional persons. Babies under 1 year old stay for free. Everyone else counts as extra (see Extra Person). Airbnb charges a booking fee for all bookings - which I do not collect - and that is listed under SubTotal. The room rate is automatically calculated by Airbnb based on the information you provide.

Is there Wifi?
Yes and it is fast and 100% free! There are several options. There is free wireless internet in the room and throughout the hotel. I will provide you the login and password after booking. With it, you can also logon and work in the lobby for free where there are great tables and chairs (email hidden)ere's a Starbucks next to the hotel where you can get free Wifi. The Apple Store is 24 hours and there is free internet - this is a very popular option.

What are the sleeping arrangements?
My place has a large comfortable couch in the living room, in addition to the bed in the bed room which sleeps two people. It is not a sofa bed. It is fairly big when you remove the pillows. I have guests frequently who sleep on the couch. There is a recliner in the bedroom which can roll over flat. It will be cozy for sure. There is central air conditioning and a thermostat for automatic temperature control. It can fit 4-6 guests for stays and 10 guests for events. If you decide to pack more than the recommended number of guests in, you are advised to plan ahead. I have 2 Coleman sleeping bags provided as a convenience. Different guests have different sleeping habits. If you do not like my sleeping bags, you should bring your own. If you have more than 2 people and the additional guests are not okay sleeping on a couch or using sleeping bags, please do not book. Otherwise, you will have to make your own arrangements.

What if I need a crib or rollaway bed?
You have access to all hotel services during your stay for an extra fee such as housekeeping services. If you need cribs or rollaway beds, they are $30.00 each per day up to three days after three days it will be $100.00 per week for a crib. Since the rollaway and crib is provided by the hotel and not me, the hotel will bill you directly when you checkout. You will pay the hotel directly. The hotel charges guests for beds/cribs and $60 for extra linens, towels, blankets, and housekeeping services. Because this is a condominium and my home, hotel services are not included and require extra charge.

What's the best part about staying at my place?
The impeccable service and location! My apartment has central air conditioning and central heating, so you will always stay at a comfortable temperature whether it is summer or winter. Located in the safest part of New York, this is a condominium within a hotel and it is professionally cleaned by the hotel housekeeping staff prior to your arrival. As a result, the style of the interior and decoration is unique, and it is enormous. The spacious interior is hard to find in most New York apartments and much bigger than any listing in this area. Enjoy the privacy, the deluxe services, and the convenience and services available at a hotel like a free gym and world class spa. The hotel has a safe deposit box to store valuables.

Other bonuses: A car service is available to drop you off for a nominal fee and a taxi stand is available right outside the front entrance so there is no need to hail one yourself especially during cold New York winters. It is very convenient especially when you go shopping on Fifth Avenue. If you have a baby, let me know ahead of time and I will arrange a crib for you. You have come to the right place! Due to overwhelming demand and feedback from recent guests who enjoy cooking and eating in, I have bought a new 16-piece set of dinnerware and 10-piece set of cookware and pots for the avid chef to ensure there are plenty of plates, cups, and silverware for everyone. I also recently installed a brand new GE refrigerator. A new set of Faberware flatware and Anchor Hocking large tumblers have also been added to my kitchen collection so there are plenty of utensils and cups for your use. I also recently added a set of wine glasses to the collection. In addition, I bought a new coffee maker and premium ground illy coffee awaiting on your arrival. Also, I recently installed (website hidden) Chromecast on my Samsung TV so you can stream any show you want from the Internet!

How do I operate the lights?
I have a really cool green energy lighting system to save energy and for the good of the environment. They work well and they operate on multiple levels of brightness. Sometimes guests are ask me: How do I make it brighter? You can adjust it to suit your needs. Push the "on" button once and it will be on medium lighting. Push it again, it will be on full brightness. In the kitchen, the lighting is touch sensitive - just touch the metal strip above the stove and it will turn on. Touch it again to turn it off. There is a light control panel in the left side of the entrance for controlling all the lights. The super is on call 24 hours to assist.

Is there dry cleaning or laundry service?
Yes. When you are traveling, you may so many exciting things planned that you do not have time for laundry. For that, I recommend and use Essex Dry Cleaners myself. They will pickup your laundry and deliver it back on the same day The service is great. They are located next door so you can call them anytime at your convenience and they will arrive at your door in 5 minutes with a large laundry bag to put your laundry into for pickup and delivery. The hotel also provides excellent and professional dry cleaning services.

Is there in-room dining?
Absolutely. A full in-room dining menu is provided by the award winning restaurant South Gate which uses organic and non-GMO ingredients. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and catered dinner, and a full wine list with your friends and guests. Just as you would right at home.

Can I order packages from Amazon, shop online, and have it delivered to your apartment?
Absolutely, many of my guests come to New York for shopping because many things are cheaper in America, and choose to order items online ahead of time. As a convenience for my guests, I allow you to have your packages sent over ahead of time so you can pick them up when you arrive. You agree to be solely responsible for ensuring arrival and delivery, if packages do not arrive on time, are lost, or undelivered. You may choose a same day delivery service to ensure timely delivery of goods. For instance, Amazon offers next day shipping, and eBay Now offers same day 2 hour door to door delivery from major New York City retailers like Nordstrom, Target, Macy's and Toys R Us, via their own private couriers. That means you can have your items delivered in 2 hours. Their mobile app allows you to shop from all their major stores in New York City without setting foot in the store, but please note you can only place orders during store hours. It's worked well for me when I want something delivered same day.

Will I really save more money booking your apartment rather than a hotel room at the Essex House?
Based on my experience as a top host, if you enjoy a bigger place with free internet and an artistic decor and easy access to the outdoors, then I think you will enjoy the experience. This information is intended to help set the proper expectations for your stay and help you make an informed choice taking into account your tastes before you book. I think you will. Here's why. 1) When you book a hotel room in New York, they will charge you a 15% hotel occupancy tax that includes state and local sales tax plus a daily occupancy fee on top of the daily rate. Because my place is not a hotel room but an apartment, you save 15% automatically. 2) Hotel guests pay $20/day for internet. The fee is assessed daily so if you book a hotel room at the Essex Houses for 10 days, you will pay $200 in internet fees. You get free internet when you stay in my apartment. 3) The cheapest room in the hotel is half the size of my apartment. If size is an important factor, then my apartment will be better than a hotel room. These extra fees easily add 30% to any rate quoted by the hotel. So, when comparing prices, I recommend adding 30% to any hotel rate. For example, if the hotel quotes you a rate of $395/night, the actual price you pay will be $515/night. That said, the experience of staying in my apartment is not the same as staying in a hotel room. If you like staying in a hotel room that is smaller, more expensive, and traditional, please don't book my apartment. A hotel room will suit you better and it is worth the extra fees. My place is not perfect and there are minor imperfections. Because the hotel cable offers a limited selection of channels and is sometimes inaccessible, I recently added Chromecast which allows you to watch your favorite shows via streaming and I have a DVD player which you can use to watch DVDs. If you can overlook them, then I think you will love it. You will need a microscope to find some of these but in fairness to those who are disturbed by even the slightest details, a tiny floor tile (less than 1/8") is missing and an inch of carpet is frayed. I have a handyman who repairs any imperfections as I discover them and he recently replaced the shower tiles with new ones and rebuilt the saddle in the shower, so if you notice anything, please let me know and I will send him over. I take every piece of feedback from my guests as an opportunity to make the experience even better. Atmosphere-wise, my place has an artistic and lively New York loft style that is popular in Tribeca with exposed brick, steel beams, and wallpaper, which may not suit those looking for conventional decor. Most guests love it, but a few guests don't. When you walk out the front door every morning, you will see Central Park! If you are nature lover and like taking walks in the park, you will love the location. The only downside is that my place does not have a direct view of Central Park.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment in New York. It is well located, an easy walk to Times Sqaure, or to use the subway to anywhere in New York. The food was very enjoyable from the organic supermarket at Columbus circle and it was so relaxing to be able to prepare our own steak and salad after having travelled at a fast pace for a couple of weeks.
    Thanks for letting us stay
    Regards

  • The location was excellent, close to Central Park & transport. The hotel was 5 star however the apartment while nice but not five star, 4 star at best. There was 5 of us, 3 big teenage boys and ourselves and the space was tight for 5. Advertised for 10 people but only comfortable for 4 adults/teenagers and 5 at at push. My 3 sons slept on big couch but while OK was not exactly very comfortable or ideal.
We paid €37 extra per night for each of the boys but did not feel we got value for money in this case.
The decor of the place could do with some brightening up and cables everywhere could be tidied up. The closet/cabinet was very untidy with sheets , pillows, blankets & towels thrown in randomly. Took a good while to figure out the TV, instructions not very clear. There was no kettle to boil water on our arrival. Jonathan responded by sending a kettle and some american chocolates by courier which were delivered the next day.
In summary location was great but not enough space/comfort for 5 adults and thought the supplement was steep considering the boys were in sleeping bags on the couch which we did not consider was value for money. Advertised for 10 but can only cater for 4 adults comfortably at best.

    Response from Jonathan:

I'm delighted to hear you fully utilized the services of my place. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the Bodum tea kettle I couriered over exclusively for you and your family. As a suggestion, I do hope that you will let your future guests know when your three big teenage boys break the plates and cups of their hosts, rather than having your host find out as a complete surprise that their kitchenware have to be replaced. Would you have told me if I had not asked? At best, I can see it was an oversight. At worst, it appears that you were hoping I would not find out. I would not consider this to be the behavior of a responsible guest. I gave you the benefit of the doubt by returning your full security deposit. Had I known that you were so discerning, I would probably not be so forgiving. I do hope you will show future hosts the courtesy that you left at the door when you entered my apartment. It would also help to teach your boys the manners of being good guests.

  • Perfect host and a perfect location; we were so grateful to Jonathan for all his thoughtfulness and we thought the flat had just the right feel - a fabulously appointed home but with hotel services available if needed. As planned, my cousin was very comfortable using the sofas as a bed. Thank you so much Jonathan - chocolates particularly appreciated!!

  • We spent a week in Jonathan's apartment. Let's try to give an objective and trustworthy comment.

    Pros :
. Location : really awesome, we couldn't find better at this price. On Central Park South, in the heart of Manhattan, located in a 5 star hotel, with all its services... Top !
. 5 star hotel services : as the apartment is located in the hotel, we got the benefits of its services : room service, security, taxis at any time...
. The flat is well laid out : a comfortable living room with an open kitchen, a separate bedroom, a nice bathroom.
. The bed was really comfortable, the shower perfect, the couch big and cosy and the kitchen convenient.
. A lot of helpful things : umbrellas, towels, toiletries...

    Cons :
. Even if we were in a 5 star hotel, the apartment itself is not 5 star. It should be renovated (floor and walls, damaged tiles, plugs that should be fixed...). It's a pity, as the apartment could be really nice...
. We found it difficult to be listened to sometimes by Jonathan. When we arrived, there were only 2 glasses in the kitchen, and no kitchen towels.. well, we had to wait a bit to get what we asked for...
. The fridge is really old-fashioned (quite an antique). It didn't work well, either hot or like a freezer. It wasn't repaired before we left... Bad for me, as I have to make an injection per day, and my injections must stay at a certain level of temperature...
. We were two in the apartment. Jonathan says that 10 people can stay... I really don't know where they can sleep...

As a conclusion, we enjoyed the stay, even with the little imperfections that I've just described.

    Response from Jonathan:

Thanks for your valuable feedback. I hope you and Sylvie enjoyed the Godiva dark chocolates I hand delivered for your anniversary. I am very happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and took advantage of all the comfort and conveniences. Your feedback helped me understand the needs of particular guests. As a result, I took your feedback, and since your stay, I've recently added a brand new GE refrigerator, renovated the shower with brand new tiles, and added new wine glasses to my collection as a convenience for guests from France who regularly drink wine. You helped me understand the utmost importance of wine in the French diet. Your feedback has helped make the experience better for future guests. I look forward to having you again!

  • Buyer beware. As advertised this aprtment is in a five-star hotel (more like a good four-star but still very nice) and is a good size. The location is also excellent. That's all that supports the rating. The decor of the place seems stuck in some bizarre time warp with some very odd features. The space has clearly not received much attention for a long time. Things are just messy and tired. Open a closet or a cabinet and things are just kind of thrown in randomly. Wires, cables, and electronics randomly thrown together, broken tiles in the shower, broken TV stand, garbage left out from the last visitor, to name just a few things. Badly in need of a paint job and tender loving care. No instructions for anything. We finally got one TV to work in the living room, but nothing else. All said, the price for the size and location might be reasonable, just don't expect five-star accomodations.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in NYC at this wonderful property. It turned out to be exactly as advertised and in one of the best locations in New York. Check-in and check-out were a breeze, the accommodations comfortable, and perfect for a stay in New York. Jonathan was very accommodating when we had to extend our stay for one day due to weather related flight cancellations. We could not have been happier and will definitely keep this property on our short list for future visits to NYC.

  • This was my first Airbnb experience, and I was a tad cautious to make this step. However, even before reaching the apartment, I knew I was in excellent hands as Jonathan is a truly outstanding host! He not only answered all my queries, but he went the extra length to send me a list of places to visit (including a Broadway show recommendation), and shopping possibilities. The apartment could not be in a better location, and while many reviews have mentioned its vicinity to Central Park, which is a huge plus, it is also close to so many other places of interest. I am a walker and enjoyed being able to reach places without having to take taxis or the subway. The flat itself is quaint and quite unique in style. It had everything I needed and was comfortable. Being located in a hotel was great as I was able to use its services, which boiled down to the concierge and porters. The former were formidable for advice on how to get to places! I would return to this apt without a thought and thank Jonathan for being a superb host.

  • The apartment is ideal for two people, we are a family of four adults and is a little tight. The location is excellent, close to points of interest and services. Service staff is excellent. The apartment is highly recommended, we would definitely go back again.
