Rated #1 Property in New York Central Park
"We had a grand time in NYC and your condominium was perfect! The location is outstanding and the condo spacious and comfortable. Thank you for letting us stay there! We left the apartment as we found it, and the kitchen items are washed. Your tips were most helpful -- Grom was wonderful and Whole Foods was very convenient. Thank you for a lovely place to stay. We would definitely like to stay there again when we return to New York." - From Family of 2, May 29, 2015

It is also one of the most convenient places in town, because there are 2 subway lines just outside, the N/R/Q/W line and the F/V line. Time Warner Center which has brand name shops and world class restaurants like Masa and Per Se is right next door, and so is Trump Tower which is the home of Jean Georges and Fifth Avenue, the shopping mecca of New York, is just a block away. For couples with kids, be sure to visit the Central Park Zoo where there are lots of activities for kids.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the rate calculated?
The rate is for 1 person plus just $40/night for any additional persons. Babies under 1 year old stay for free. Everyone else counts as extra (see Extra Person). Airbnb charges a booking fee for all bookings - which I do not collect - and that is listed under SubTotal. The room rate is automatically calculated by Airbnb based on the information you provide. Due to extremely high demand and limited inventory, rates are may change until you have paid for and confirmed your reservation.
Is there Wifi?
Yes and it is fast and 100% free! There are several options. There is free wireless internet in the room and throughout the hotel. I will provide you the login and password after booking. With it, you can also logon and work in the lobby for free where there are great tables and chairs and a coffee bar. There's a Starbucks next to the hotel where you can get free Wifi. The Apple Store is 24 hours and there is free internet - this is a very popular option.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
My place has a large comfortable couch in the living room, in addition to the bed in the bed room which sleeps two people. It is not a sofa bed. It is fairly big when you remove the pillows. I have guests frequently who sleep on the couch. There is a recliner in the bedroom which can roll over flat. It will be cozy for sure. There is central air conditioning and a thermostat for automatic temperature control. It can fit 4-6 guests for stays and 10 guests for events. If you decide to pack more than the recommended number of guests in, you are advised to plan ahead. I have 2 Coleman sleeping bags provided as a convenience. Different guests have different sleeping habits. If you prefer your own, you can also bring your own. If you have more than 2 people and the additional guests are not okay sleeping on a couch or using sleeping bags, please do not book. Otherwise, you will have to make your own arrangements.
What if I need a crib or rollaway bed?
You have access to all hotel services during your stay for an extra fee such as housekeeping services. If you need cribs or rollaway beds, they are $30.00 each per day up to three days after three days it will be $100.00 per week for a crib. Since the rollaway and crib is provided by the hotel and not me, the hotel will bill you directly when you checkout. You will pay the hotel directly. The hotel charges guests for beds/cribs and $75 for extra linens, towels, blankets, and housekeeping services. Because this is a condominium within a 5 star hotel and my home, hotel services are not included and require extra charge.
What's the best part about staying at my place?
The impeccable service and location! My apartment has central air conditioning and central heating, so you will always stay at a comfortable temperature whether it is summer or winter. Located in the safest part of New York, this is a condominium within a hotel and it is professionally cleaned by the hotel housekeeping staff prior to your arrival. As a result, the style of the interior and decoration is unique, and it is enormous. The spacious interior is hard to find in most New York apartments and much bigger than any listing in this area. Enjoy the privacy, the deluxe services, and the convenience and services available at a 5 star hotel like a free gym and world class spa. The hotel has a safe deposit box to store valuables.
Other bonuses: A car service is available to drop you off for a nominal fee and a taxi stand is available right outside the front entrance so there is no need to hail one yourself especially during cold New York winters. It is very convenient especially when you go shopping on Fifth Avenue. If you have a baby, let me know ahead of time and I will arrange a crib for you. You have come to the right place! Due to overwhelming demand and feedback from recent guests who enjoy cooking and eating in, I have bought a new 16-piece set of dinnerware and 10-piece set of cookware and pots for the avid chef to ensure there are plenty of plates, cups, and silverware for everyone. I also recently installed a brand new GE refrigerator. A new set of Faberware flatware and Anchor Hocking large tumblers have also been added to my kitchen collection so there are plenty of utensils and cups for your use. I also recently added a set of wine glasses to the collection. In addition, I bought a new SterlingPro Doublewall French Press coffee maker and premium ground illy coffee awaiting on your arrival. Also, I recently installed (website hidden) Chromecast on my Samsung TV so you can stream any show you want from the Internet!
What else is unique?
My apartment at the Essex House has a top of the line kitchen, a granite dining table and a nice refrigerator. Hotel rooms at the Essex House do not have kitchens and dining tables because they are smaller.
How do I operate the lights?
I have a really cool green energy lighting system to save energy and for the good of the environment. They work well and they operate on multiple levels of brightness. Sometimes guests are ask me: How do I make it brighter? You can adjust it to suit your needs. Push the "on" button once and it will be on medium lighting. Push it again, it will be on full brightness. In the kitchen, the lighting is touch sensitive - just touch the metal strip above the stove and it will turn on. Touch it again to turn it off. There is a light control panel in the left side of the entrance for controlling all the lights. The super is on call 24 hours to assist.
Is there dry cleaning or laundry service?
Yes. When you are traveling, you may so many exciting things planned that you do not have time for laundry. For that, I recommend and use Essex Dry Cleaners myself. They will pickup your laundry and deliver it back on the same day The service is great. They are located next door so you can call them anytime at your convenience and they will arrive at your door in 5 minutes with a large laundry bag to put your laundry into for pickup and delivery. The hotel also provides excellent and professional dry cleaning services.
Is there in-room dining?
Absolutely. A full in-room dining menu is provided by the award winning restaurant South Gate which uses organic and non-GMO ingredients. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and catered dinner, and a full wine list with your friends and guests. Just as you would right at home.
Can I order packages from Amazon, shop online, and have it delivered to your apartment?
Absolutely, many of my guests come to New York for shopping because many things are cheaper in America, and choose to order items online ahead of time. As a convenience for my guests, I allow you to have your packages sent over ahead of time so you can pick them up when you arrive. You agree to be solely responsible for ensuring arrival and delivery, if packages do not arrive on time, are lost, or undelivered. You may choose a same day delivery service to ensure timely delivery of goods. For instance, Amazon offers next day shipping, and eBay offers same day 2 hour door to door delivery from major New York City retailers like Nordstrom, Target, Macy's and Toys R Us, via their own private couriers. That means you can have your items delivered in 2 hours. Their mobile app allows you to shop from all their major stores in New York City without setting foot in the store, but please note you can only place orders during store hours. It's worked well for me when I want something delivered same day.
Will I really save more money booking your apartment rather than a hotel room at the Essex House?
Based on my experience as a top host, if you enjoy a bigger place with free internet and an artistic decor and easy access to the outdoors, then I think you will enjoy the experience. This information is intended to help set the proper expectations for your stay and help you make an informed choice taking into account your tastes before you book. I think you will. Here's why. 1) When you book a hotel room in New York, they will charge you a 15% hotel occupancy tax that includes state and local sales tax plus a daily occupancy fee on top of the daily rate. Because my place is not a hotel room but an apartment, you save 15% automatically. 2) Hotel guests pay $20/day for internet. The fee is assessed daily so if you book a hotel room at the Essex Houses for 10 days, you will pay $200 in internet fees. You get free internet when you stay in my apartment. 3) The cheapest room in the hotel is half the size of my apartment. If size is an important factor, then my apartment will be better than a hotel room. These extra fees easily add 30% to any rate quoted by the hotel. So, when comparing prices, I recommend adding 30% to any hotel rate. For example, if the hotel quotes you a rate of $495/night, the actual price you pay will be $645/night. That said, the experience of staying in my apartment is not the same as staying in a hotel room. If you like staying in a hotel room that is smaller, more expensive, and traditional, please don't book my apartment. A hotel room will suit you better and it is worth the extra fees. My place is not perfect and there are minor imperfections. Because the hotel cable offers a limited selection of channels, I recently added an Amazon High Definition TV antenna (to receive channels such as ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, and Fox) and Chromecast which allows you to watch your favorite shows via streaming. I also have a DVD player which you can use to watch DVDs. If you can overlook them, then I think you will love it. You will need a microscope to find some of these but in fairness to those who are disturbed by even the slightest details, a tiny floor tile (less than 1/8") is missing and an inch of carpet is frayed. I have a handyman who repairs any imperfections as I discover them and he recently replaced the shower tiles with new ones and rebuilt the saddle in the shower, so if you notice anything, please let me know and I will send him over. I take every piece of feedback from my guests as an opportunity to make the experience even better. Atmosphere-wise, my place has an artistic and lively New York loft style that is popular in Tribeca with exposed brick, steel beams, and wallpaper, which may not suit those looking for conventional decor. Most guests love it, but a few guests don't. When you walk out the front door every morning, you will see Central Park! If you are nature lover and like taking walks in the park, you will love the location. The only downside is that my place does not have a direct view of Central Park.
Can I make last-minute bookings?
You must book at least 3 days in advance of your arrival. Same day bookings are not allowed and will be cancelled with no refund.

I typically respond to requests within 30 minutes. Be sure to checkout my Guidebook around Central Park for tips! I have welcomed so many guests from around the world that I decided to highlight all the best places to see, restaurants to eat, and things to do around Central Park in my Airbnb Guidebook. Whether you are on business, traveling with family, or visiting friends, there are activities for everyone!
If you are an early riser, there are some great breakfast choices in the area. I personally like Bouchon at Time Warner Center. It's a nice French bakery. And there is also Norma's at Le Parker Meridien which has Chocolate French Toast and Blueberry Pancakes - perfect if you have a sweet tooth. If you like working out in the morning, the gym on the third floor is free (use the card key) and there are free towels, magazines, and bottled water. They just renovated it recently and there's even a free sauna!
Ready for your trip? The easiest way to get to the Essex House is to take a taxi from the airport. The cost for a taxi to Manhattan is a flat fare of $52 (plus toll). You can also take SuperShuttle.
Once here, you have convenient access to both public and private transportation. There are 2 subway lines just outside the back entrance, the N/R/Q/W line and the F/V line. These can be taken to Times Square, Bryant Park, Herald Square, Union Square, China Town, and Wall Street.
There is also a 24 hour taxi stand at the Essex House which means taxis are always available for you even during rush hour.
If you are driving, Quik Park garage offers convenient parking and it is next door with in and out privileges Be sure to check their website for coupons and specials.
The 10 Steps To Being a Great Guest
1. Check in is fast and easy. When you arrive, you will be given a card key at the hotel front desk. Smoking is not allowed indoors in New York.
2. Please be neighborly. You are staying in my home.
3. Please remember to clean up and take out the trash. Please do not leave food in the refrigerator - although I appreciate the gesture. There is a trash bin past the elevators - first door on the right.
4. If you break anything during your stay, please let me know as soon as possible. Please notify me, so I can make arrangements for it to be fixed. Airbnb has a Host Guarantee Program which helps in this process.
5. If you use the kitchen, cups, plates or utensils, please clean up and wash them, so future guests can enjoy using them.
6. To raise or lower the curtains in the living room, please flip the switch in the cabinet next to the entrance.
7. There are shower towels in the cabinet behind the mirror in the bathroom. The shower has one handle for turning on/off the water and another handle for adjusting the temperature.
8. To watch TV in the living room, please switch on the TV using the Samsung remote. Please use the small remote control (RCN Cable remote) for flipping through the channels.
9. If you moved the furniture, please put them back into their former location.
10. As a guest, you agree that you will not make any video recordings or take any photographs of the apartment, distribute, upload, or share them. Because this is a private property, you agree that all recordings and images are property of the property owner. By making a booking, you agree to observe these rules. Violations of any house rules will result in immediate forfeiture and cancellation of your reservation. You agree to automatically forfeit your entire security deposit if any damage is found after checkout in addition to paying for the full cost of repairs.
Have a Happy Stay!
The location is quite good in Manhattan, very convenient to Metro, central park, and Fifth avenue. No central park view of the department, it is one of the condos managed by JW Marriott. Very safe and convenient place to stay in New York.
Thank you Yan. It was a pleasure to have you! I hope you had a wonderful time in the city and enjoyed the amazing shopping on Fifth Avenue and Time Warner Center. One day, I hope to visit Shanghai. You can always count on having a wonderful place to stay next time you are in the Big Apple!
I traveled to New York City with two of my friends to attend the Women In the World Summit. We chose Jonathan's apartment as the location was close to the event venue, Lincoln Center, right in front of Central Park, and the apartment seemed good to accommodate three people.
The apartment was clean, and had the basic appliances and furniture. The two lamps in the dinning area were not working properly, when we would turn them on it would smell like something was burning - we kept them off.
The bed is big enough for two people to sleep comfortably, the sofa is good for one adult person to sleep there.
Overall, we had a great stay at Jonathan's apartment - until the end.
Our flights got cancelled two hours prior to our departure on Sunday evening. We found out as we were about to leave the apartment. When we found out, we started calling the airline (United) to book us another flight since they booked us until the next morning - very inconvenient since we had no where to stay.
As we tried figured out flights for that same night, we stayed in the apartment for an additional hour or so (less than two). While we were on the phone, the cleaning lady came in and worked around us. We had everything packed, and she was able to complete her job just fine. We made no mess, just sat on the couch. I contacted Jonathan to ask if we could book another night since the front desk had told us that no guests were checking in on Sunday (we contacted them first as we knew we would have to leave the apartment ASAP if guests were to be checked in). Jonathan then began his overreaction saying he was contacting hotel security and airbnb. We left -right after the cleaning lady - to a different hotel we booked after finding out there were no flights to that night. Jonathan then requested more than $590 because we "significantly overstayed..and also prevented the (website hidden) cleaner from cleaning the apartment." Needless to say, airbnb closed the resolution as it was an absurd request.
Aside from that ridiculous incident, the apartment itself is good place to stay at.
Hi Alejandra - I hope you had a wonderful time in the city. The checkout time is 12 pm and my housekeeper arrives at 1 pm to clean up. You should have notified me about your change of plans at 12 pm not at 5 pm. While it is unfortunate that your flight was cancelled, you made no effort to notify me of your intention to extend your stay until 5 pm which is well after the appointed check out time. My housekeeper was not able to do her job because she expected you to have checked out. According my housekeeper, you were still there after she had left the apartment. Even she was surprised. I tried reaching out to you at 4 pm and you did not pick up the phone and I had to get Airbnb involved, because you were unreachable. If you had notified me about your change of plans, I would have given you the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately, you made no effort to do so, and you squatted in the apartment until 5 pm hoping that I would not find out and only requested to extend your stay when I did. You are lucky that Airbnb did not charge you for an additional night for squatting, which I had every right to do. If you had followed the basic Airbnb rules, this would not have happened. I hope you will do a better job of communicating with future hosts and show them greater courtesy and respect.
A truly wonderful apartment in the heart of NYC with the doorstep on Central Park. Fully functional kitchen, amazing sofa and very nice bed. Staff in the building always nice and polite and helpful.
Would return any day, thank you Jonathan for a great vacation.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The condo is part JW Marriott Essex house but not maintained by the hotel staff on a regular basis. It would be a perfect place to stay for 2 people as there is only one bed in the bedroom and a sectional sofa in the living room. We paid for 4 people and had hard time sleeping on the sofa. It's a perfect location and a great hotel but I was disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the unit. There were only sleeping bags available for those who need to sleep on the sofa, no sheets or blankets were provided even after calling the housekeeping. It seemed like the unit was not cleaned prior to our arrival. We had additional maintenance related problems as well. Jonathan was responsive to my questions.
Thank you Birsen. I hope you had a wonderful time in the Big Apple. I am glad you to hear you loved the location right on Central Park. Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. The condo is professionally cleaned by hotel staff at the Essex House and by Handy (a professional cleaning service recommended by Airbnb) prior to each guest's arrival. I provide the services as described in my listing and it's all very clearly stated. In addition, the concierge at the Essex House is available 24 hours at your service to book trips and restaurants and provide additional services. You also have free access to the new gym and free high speed Internet - which normally costs $25/day. For a nominal fee, the Essex House also provides rollaway beds and cribs. These benefits make my apartment tremendously unique by Airbnb standards and I hope you were able to take advantage of everything available. One day, I hope to visit Naples and enjoy the beautiful weather. Thanks again!
We had a great stay in this apartment. Its a condo within The Essex House Hotel so the security, service etc is first class. As is the location - Central Park South, mid way between 5th Avenue and Columbus Circle. You have full access to hotel services including room service and the gym. The subway is a block away - use the rear entrance to the Hotel to cut off the corner. And Central Park is 2 minutes from the front door.
The apartment is large and comfortable and well equipped - you have so much more space than the usual Manhattan hotel room. The kitchen area has an electric hob, microwave, kettle etc and the bathroom has an excellent power shower. The bedroom is huge, comfortable bed and masses of closet space - with hangers!
We did find it a little noisy, particularly at night - we thought there must have been a vent just outside the bedroom window and some of the decor is a bit tired. But they are minor things and overall we wouldnt hesitate to recommend this apartment to others and to stay again ourselves.
The three of us had a wonderful time! The condo was so convenient to everything we wanted to see. Jonathan was very responsive with questions . It was pretty cold, so after a day of traveling in the cold getting into a hot shower was wonderful. I would definitely stay here again!
