About this listing
Enjoy a private room on our quiet, peaceful farm. Shared kitchen, living room and bathroom available right there. Internet. Coffee and tea anytime. Must appreciate family pets and a very talkative African Grey parrot, who loves to dance as well.
First-this is a working farm, and with this comes, poop from free ranging chickens and ducks, some weeds as we try to keep up with growth from rain, some noises, and light farm smells (light because we are not over-populated). Given that, please do not rate us as if our listing is in the city. We pride ourselves on our farm atmosphere.
Ok, on to the details. Our home is situated on 14 acres, 7 of which are wooded. The rest is our farm. We have beef, chickens, ducks, rabbits, peacocks, and a goat. Depending on the season and year, a large farm garden, free ranging, growing meat chickens and turkeys. The farm is harmonious and peaceful. The woods have walking trails where you can sit or wander. We also have a retreat area which includes a Chartres Labyrinth, Native American Medicine Wheel, Pyramid, and Kabbalah Tree of Life. Whether you just want to stay or participate in farming or utilize the retreat spaces, come and rejuvenate.
For additional cost, or farm help, guests will have access to the farm as well as seasonal produce, and retreat spaces.
If you are interested in staying on days that the calendar shows as closed or for a longer term rate, please do email us to see if we can accommodate your needs.
Interaction with Guests
If you are interested in more than lodging, you may choose to participate in farming activities with us, which are very seasonally dependent. We have a fully functioning retreat center here and can teach or guide you in use of any of the spiritual tools. We are more than happy to encourage involvement to the level of your interest.
The farm is situated in the middle of a forest. There are no obvious neighbors. It is secluded yet accessible.
There is no public transportation here, so a vehicle would be necessary. Or a bike.
Other Things to Note
We are about 15 minutes from State College, as well as University Park Airport. We are also 1 mile from Interstate 80. There are renowned fishing creeks and streams nearby, as well as Bald Eagle State Park.
The main rule is that we are kind to the animals, and do not chase them. Beyond that, it is exceedingly quiet and peaceful here and thus we require it to remain that way, meaning no parties or loud behaviors. We would like your stay to be enjoyable, and relatively clean. Coming and going, either early or late is fine and we may do the same, so we would let you know and you let us know, so that no one worries about things that go bump in the night. No pets please, but you can love ours (Lily the toy poodle, Bentley and Sissy the cats, and Duncan the African Grey parrot, who never stops talking).
About the Host, Larry And Nancy
Larry and I have made our farm a peaceful place where all the animals co-exist in harmony. Nancy is a licensed psychologist as well as a Celtic Shaman, Reiki Master and Spiritual Alchemist. We both enjoy being outdoors and find farm life to be healthy and refreshing. Most of the farm animals are fed organically and are free range. We are in the process expanding the garden produce to include medicinal herbs and plants, grown not only in the garden, but in various places on the farm, including the woods.
