Our 2 bedroom self-contained unit is located semi-rural on hillside with beautiful views and sunsets. Quiet area with native bush and paddocks on property.10 km from Tauranga and 15 km from Mount Maunganui.
Tauranga has one of the best climates in New Zealand and being up on the hill means a lot of sunshine for this place. It is hard to beat the sunsets here when sitting on the deck in the evenings while having a barbecue.
The place was built in 2010 and we have done the interior work ourselves, using mostly European products such as the tiles, sinks and cupboards. We put a lot of importance into storage space and great insulation, making it warm in winter and cool in summer.
Now also featuring a media system with hundreds of movies available. 39" Full HD TV with English and German movies and new releases. Unfortunately there is no cable TV though and therefore cannot get any TV channels.
There are 3 beds, 1 queen size bed in one room and 2 single beds in the other. All beds have thick (8 - 10cm) memory foam toppers on top of the normal mattress for maximum comfort.
The house has a bathroom, toilet and kitchen. We will do your laundry as the washing machine is in the neighbouring house. Washing can be hung up on the washing line which is under cover which protect the clothing from direct sunlight and rain.
Otherwise you will be completely self-sufficient.
Interaction with Guests
I am always around when needed, residing in the neighbouring house. Usually interaction is minimal although we have had the occassional dinner with guests in our house.
The only immediate neighbours you will have is my brother, mother and I who live in the house next door. The other house on the property is currently unoccupied.
Apart from that we have no immediate neighbours as pretty rural. The area is safe and quiet.
There is a bus connection every 30 minutes into town and from town if you wish to Mount Maunganui.
The bus stop is 5 min walk from the house.
Smoking is fine as long as it's done outside.
nice location at back of Welcome Bay overlooking hills. I liked the freedom to come and go without bothering the hosts who are in a separate dwelling. Clean and tidy
Very nice place. Magnificent view on the area, nice veranda for relaxing. Welcoming and helpful hostesses. Recomended!
Marita and Nina were very welcoming. If we needed anything, they were never far away. The house is adorable and fully functional. The views, day and night, were amazing! Comfy beds. Wonderful to wake up to the sounds of birds and cows (and the occasional rooster).
Great neighborhood, quiet; and the place has a great view. Plenty of room for my wife and I and son and his wife. We often had meals on the outside deck watching the sunset. Clean and all as advertised.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Tauranga! Marita and Nina's house was lovely, tidy, private and cosy. It was perfect for our short stay in Tauranga.
We had a good stay! Great location, nice view, tidy house.
The host was very helpful and kind to us. Some minor issues were resolved quick, and overall impression is good.
Great place to stay in Tauranga, spectacular sunsets, and nice porch for meals and relaxing.

My name is Marita and my family and I will be your hosts :)
We are originally from Switzerland but have moved here with the entire family 7 years ago. Me and my 3 children (17, 23 and 25) live on a 4 hectare property in beautiful Welcome Bay. The children all go to secondary school/university. My daughter (Nina) and I are the ones you are most likely to encounter as we will be looking after you and help you out if there is any problems.
Our family is open-minded and open-hearted. We love meeting new people and learning about different cultures. Apart from work/study we often spend weeks during summer doing bush clearing and cultivating the land e.g. planting trees, fencing etc. We are hands on people who love a good laugh and spending time together.
Hobbies vary, we are mostly outdoorsy people. I personally love gardening. Nina is into fishing, snowboarding and hiking. The boys usually go cliff and bridge jumping during summer as well as paragliding, snowboarding and skiing. If you are planning your trip through NZ feel welcome to ask for advice as we have been pretty much everywhere :)
