Guests love this home’s scenic location.
At 4000+ feet & only a 10 min walk to town on the Rhododendron Trail. Totally renovated 2017!! Light & sunny 3 bed/2 bath, 750 sq. ft. Originally built by my wife's g-grandmother in the 1940's. Floor to ceiling shiplap, 17 ft. ceilings, hardwoods, reclaimed barn wood, custom fixtures, heated marble/slate bath floors, tankless water heater, gas fireplace, porch, Wifi, TV, washer/dryer, kitchenette. Beautiful gardens! Classic Highlands charm with modern comforts! Hike, fish, shop, or relax!

The space
A perfect cottage hideaway for a honeymoon couple, anniversary or special birthdays, couples getting away for the weekend, a family with young children, solo adventurers seeking a solemn retreat or business travelers!

Spacious den with high ceilings & remote control gas fireplace. Master bedroom with huge king bed that you will melt into! The Master bedroom closes off from the den with large custom barn wood doors. Custom marble master bathroom with luxury walk-in shower with bench and separate shower head and wand, separate toilet closet and custom vanity. Heated/cooled floors! Full size modern washer & dryer.

Bedroom # 2 includes super-comfy bunk beds, and the lower bed is a full size mattress. Adults can sleep very comfortably on these beds. Also a custom vanity, separate water closet and subway tile and ceramic shower/tub combination. Heated/cooled slate floors. USB chargers in bedrooms.

Kitchenette is nicely appointed - granite counter tops, farm sink with disposal, small fridge, microwave, countertop stainless oven (nice size), Keurig coffee maker, icemaker, 2-eye hot plate, dishes, pot & pans, utensils, etc.

Outside - Screen sun porch with outdoor lighting and fan, portable gas grill. Outdoor flagstone flower garden & fire pit - the perfect setting to enjoy a glass of wine while watching the hummingbirds.

We are located about 8/10ths of a mile from downtown Highlands, and you can walk to town from the Rhododendron right next to our drive way!

Whether you want to relax by the fireplace, hike to local waterfalls and trails or enjoy Highlands’ upscale restaurants and shopping district, our cottage is a little piece of Heaven!

My wife and I live in Montgomery, Alabama. I am a Labor & Employment lawyer, and my spouse of 32 years (Julie) is a lawyer. I grew up in Atlanta, attended Marist High School, Furman University and Samford law school, where Julie and I met. We have been coming to Highlands for decades and love to hike, garden, fish and relax in our little piece of heaven. We have two cottages on the property - our rental cottage, and our main cottage located just below the rental. Julie's great-grandmother owned both cottages, which we fully renovated from 2017-18. God has blessed us with two wonderful children - a son who is an architect/inventor and a daughter who is a high school senior. The climate, people, food and attractions of Highlands are wonderful. We look forward to meeting each of you and hope you will enjoy your stay in our little bit of heaven!
