Positive points :
Nice localization closed to central park and subway
Nice welcome - Quiet flat.
It is more a guests house. John rents 3 of 4 rooms.
Safe for your stuff
Negative points :
1 bed set up. The 2nd was not.
A little expensive.
Great host - the best! Fabulous location close to Central Park and Subway.
John has four rooms for rent. One room has a privat bathroom. We had for one week room number three and shared the bathroom with two other rooms (four people). We checked in without any problems. Our key for the appartment were at the doorman of the house. The room and the bathroom were clean when we arrived. During our one week long stay there was no cleaninglady. The livingroom has AC but the room had no AC. During our stay the weather was not so hot, so it was ok. The room was ok but it didnt look like the one in the pictures. John sleeps on the couch. He is polite and helps with any Problems. The appartment is right next to the Central park. The subway is one block away. From middtown the taxidrive to the appartment costs about 13 Dollars. So for sleeping their it is totally ok!
Location was excellent, close to subway station and Central Park. In the description it is not well stablish that the house has 4 rooms for rent so you need to share the bathroom (that was the worst of it) so it was a surprise. Nevertheless it was clean.
The room is not the one of the pics but still was good. It lacks AC in the rooms so it can be too hot for summer so we needed to sleep with the door and window open.
OK experience. The vibe of this multi-unit host was somewhere between a hostel and a hotel.
Photos were not very accurate of room or location, although clean and very accessible.
Host was kind enough to allow a late pickup of bags, and was very responsive.
Still, just a little too impersonal for me to want to return; however, maybe that's unfair to this particular host - and maybe more of a general comment on NYC as a whole. Although shared some brief but good conversation with host's roommate who showed an interest to make a connection with guests.
