Relax in our quiet guesthouse on the scenic central coast. Our property is one acre and the standalone guesthouse is about 600 square feet with a bedroom and kitchen facilities. We’re very close to the ocean, parks, shops, wineries, and more!
Enjoy nature in our quiet, private one-bedroom guesthouse on the scenic central coast. The house is about 600 square feet and completely separated from the main house by a thick oak grove. It has contemporary furniture, a separate bedroom, kitchen facilities, and a back yard patio with grill, table, and chairs. The house has DSL and a strong WiFi signal.
The property and the area are a relatively intact habitat which means lots of birds...we have almost 80 species on our "yard list". However, one of the best features of the area is the magnificent dark sky. The Milky Way is often visible. The property is at about 600 ft. elevation and often clear of the fog along the coast. In addition, the neighborhood has a minimum lot size of 1 acre and the neighbors are very respectful of privacy, light, and noise.
Just a few blocks away hiking trails lead into Montana de Oro State Park. Montana de Oro is an 8,000-acre park with spectacular views, secluded beaches, bluff trails, and picnic spots. The main entrance to the park is about a 10-minute drive out Los Osos Valley Road. Grocery stores, gas, and restaurants are about a mile away.
The coastal city of Morro Bay is about 5 miles to the north and the college town of San Luis Obispo is about 10 miles inland. San Luis Obispo has a fun, historic downtown with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. The area is also known for wine making. There are numerous wineries outside of San Luis Obispo (Edna Valley) and near Paso Robles.
Thanks! We look forward to meeting you!
Guests have access to the patio behind the house and the Adirondak chairs in front. Our guests can usually find a nice, sunny place to relax.
Interaction with Guests
Mosts of our guests want their privacy, so we have very limited interaction with our guests. We make ourselves available, as needed. But the property is fairly large and it is highly likely that you will see very little of us.
Other Things to Note
We have no pets on the property.
No pets and no smoking.
Lisa's cottage was exactly the getaway that my wife and I were looking for. It had all the essentials, including a kitchen well stocked with cookware. The cottage was quiet, relatively private, warm, and not too far away from Morro Bay or San Luis Obispo. I didn't get a chance to meet Lisa, but I didn't have any problems with the cottage either. Definitely recommend staying here!
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay on Lisa's property. The guest house was very spacious for two people, and conveniently located about 5 minutes from Montana de Oro. And if you love stargazing, as my girlfriend and I do, you can't beat the view of the night sky.
We spent a month at Lisa's cottage in the wonderful area of Los Osos. The space was clean, comfortable and the the property was very peaceful. Los Osos is conveniently located to SLO, Montana de Oro State Park ( don't miss the Pt Buchon hike on PG&E property), and Morro Bay.
Lisa was gone for much of the time we were there, but we saw each other a couple of times and seemed very friendly. Emails were promptly answered when we had a question. The written "guest manual" was helpful in orienting to the area. Great value for a basic accommodation.
We really enjoyed our stay in Lisa's guest house. It's a very quiet and comfortable cottage that certainly provides privacy and solitude. It's actually more spacious than it appears in the pictures; two of us were very comfortable there.
Due to busy schedules we never met Lisa but the instructions she provided were detailed and easy to follow. Even around the New Year's holiday she was very punctual in responding to our questions.
The cottage is in a beautiful and convenient setting. We had a fabulous hike in nearby Montana de Oro park, ventured north to Cambria and amazing elephant seal viewing, and explored Pismo Beach's pier and SLO's nightlife and fine dining.
Lisa talked with us (phone) & met us before she was leaving town. All directions in house. It was a wonderful place to stay; perfect for us; very clean; all necessities provided; safe & quiet neighborhood. we would definitely stay there again.
We had the most enjoyable stay. Lisa was very helpful and friendly. The cottage is comfortable and kitchen equipped with all the basic necessities. We enjoyed our evenings on the patio absorbing the breathtaking views of our solar system, that is when we weren't being slammed by a mega storm (which we loved as well). My two older girls were able to stay for a few nights and the home accommodated all of us very comfortably. We took every advantage of Lisa's recommendation for Top Dog, a local coffee house, and found all the staff and patrons to be absolutely fabulous and ever so helpful. The community of Los Osos is very quiet and unlike some of the other more tourist-y towns close by-which is what we wanted. If you are looking for Disneyland style attractions this is not your destination however if you are looking for a quiet and quaint escape, like we were, this is it. We only wish we could have extended our stay!
We were made to feel very welcome. It is a very quiet and peaceful location. We were able to do lots of reading. The futon was comfortable though for two people almost six feet tall it is not recommended.
It was just about as advertised and equipped well enough.
One chair needs to be repaired, and having just one small college room refrigerator really impacts how much one can cook in.
We did have to leave a night early because the toilet stopped functioning. Trying to repair on Thanksgiving Saturday would have been difficult.
But for someone looking for peace and quiet I do recommend the place. No TV, good WiFi.
