Quiet Guest House Near the Coast

House - Entire home/apt · Bayview Heights Dr, Baywood-Los Osos, CA 93402, United States

Relax in our quiet one-bedroom guesthouse on the scenic central coast. Our property is large and the standalone guesthouse is about 600 square feet with a separate bedroom and kitchen facilities. We’re very close to the ocean, wineries, and more!

The Space

Enjoy nature in our quiet, private one-bedroom guesthouse on the scenic central coast. The house is about 600 square feet and completely separated from the main house by a thick oak grove. It has contemporary furniture, a separate bedroom, kitchen facilities, and a back yard patio with grill, table, and chairs. The house has DSL and a strong WiFi signal.

The property and the area are a relatively intact habitat which means lots of birds...we have almost 80 species on our "yard list". However, one of the best features of the area is the magnificent dark sky. The Milky Way is often visible. The property is at about 600 ft. elevation and often clear of the fog along the coast. In addition, the neighborhood has a minimum lot size of 1 acre and the neighbors very respectful of privacy, light, and noise.

Just a few blocks away hiking trails lead into Montana de Oro State Park. Montana de Oro is an 8,000-acre park with spectacular views, secluded beaches, bluff trails, and picnic spots. The main entrance to the park is about a 10-minute drive out Los Osos Valley Road. Grocery stores, gas, and restaurants are about a mile away.

The coastal city of Morro Bay is about 5 miles to the north and the college town of San Luis Obispo is about 10 miles inland. San Luis Obispo has a fun, historic downtown with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. The area is also known for wine making. There are numerous wineries outside of San Luis Obispo (Edna Valley) and near Paso Robles.

Thanks! We look forward to meeting you!

Guest Access

Guests have access to the patio behind the house and the Adirondak chairs in front. Our guests can usually find a nice, sunny place to relax.

Interaction with Guests

Mosts of our guests want their privacy, so we have very limited interaction with our guests. We make ourselves available, as needed. But the property is fairly large and it is highly likely that you will see very little of us.

Other Things to Note

We have no pets on the property.

  • we love the cottage spent a whole week there only suggestion would be bigger refrigerator with a little bigger freezer section and a small microwave oven, especially when we spend at least a week there and cook for ourselves. Like the quietness and seclusion of the cottage and the proximity to Montana de Oro Park and San Luis Obispo

Thanks Donna. We added the microwave to the list of amenities!

  • We had a wonderful week in Los Osos. The weather was perfect and we hope to plan another trip next October. The house was great...spacious, comfortable, clean with a stocked kitchen, lovely sitting area, patio with Adirondack chairs and some in front to catch the sun wherever it was. Hiking close by and views of Morro rock and the bay. The hosts took care of our few requests and we were very happy!

  • We had a pleasant stay at Lisa's guest house. The location is ideal and the best of two worlds. When there, it's quiet, peaceful, and private -- you feel like you're alone in a cabin in the woods. Yet, in just a drive of a few minutes, you're in town and back to civilization, with Morro Bay, Montana del Oro and other gems of nature at your beck and call. The house is super clean, kitchen is well stocked, plenty of hot water, plumbing works great, etc. It can get a little chilly on cold nights, as the heating is with two radiant portable heaters. The bed is super comfortable. It's a full size (or double bed), smaller than a queen. As noted in the amenities, there is no TV, radio, or other entertainment goodies, but there is a dedicated DSL wireless Wi-Fi with a strong signal which works great. We didn't have the opportunity to meet Lisa or Henry, but Lisa's communication was prompt and excellent. We are familiar with the area and didn't need advice for things to do or places to eat, but I'm sure Lisa would be happy to answer any questions and/or provide tips to help make anyone's visit that much more pleasant. What's more, the value was outstanding. Thank you Lisa !!

  • What a great little house! It was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It felt like we were in a cabin in the woods. Such a neat property. We came in to town to take care of some business with the purchase of our new home and stayed a couple nights with our two boys and toddler. It's not toddler proof (is anything?) but there was plenty of room.
Lisa was very responsive with emails regarding our arrival time as well as helping me coordinate getting my phone charger back. :o)
I will definitely suggest this place to friends when they come visit us!

  • Lisa is a wonderful host. Her guest house is quite spacious, secluded, and quiet. A perfect getaway. Everything was as expected. We arrived quite late, and Lisa arranged a way for us to get into the guest house with no problems. She left us a guide pamphlet with various tips, which were quite helpful. Thank you Lisa!
