The space
This spacious and modern, yet cozy, earth house consists of two octagonal shapes with a kitchen in-between. This passive solar house is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Floors are beautiful hand-applied stone skim coat using the same technique as Venetian plaster.
Ceilings are exposed large beam joinery. Plenty of windows give lots of light and beautiful views over herb and flower gardens, apple and peach trees and blueberry bushes.

Main living area: Large windows facing south. One of a kind, wood burning stove with plentiful seasoned hardwood to burn (the stove is back up to the main electric heating system).
Modern sofa to cozy up on. Lots of books stock the shelves for a lazy afternoon or post hike relaxing. Bring your laptop for movie streaming and remote work as we have high speed fios internet.

Master bedroom: handmade queen bed with new memory foam mattress, thick pillows and high quality, cotton sheets. Two skylights are located directly above the bed for enjoying starry nights.
Large windows facing south. An antique wallpaper table serves as an elegant work table to draw, write or study. Large, handmade, oak armoire to hang clothes.

Full kitchen with Bosch dishwasher, toaster, Kitchen Aid mixer, ice cream maker, several different kinds of coffeemakers. Handmade porcelain plates, cups and bowls by local ceramicists. Triple filtered, pure catskill water out of the faucet.

Bathroom with tub, shower, modern Japanese porcelain sink and toilet. Handmade barn wood shelves. Direct access to the master bed room and kitchen.

High speed fios internet. Bluetooth Klipsch speakers, easy to connect to from smartphones and computers.

Outdoor stone terrace adjoining the kitchen with wooden table and chairs, parasol and lots of herbs growing on either side. Walk out on the big lawn, terraced gardens with flowers, apple and peach trees and blueberry bushes. There's is a stone fire pit with seating just above the house overlooking the entire valley. A total of 23 acres of private land to wander with forest, meadows, open skies and lots of stars.

We cannot accept pets due to the absence of fencing, livestock on adjoining farms and potential allergies.

Parking space for two cars is located at the end of a long, private driveway on a quiet road. In winter snow season, access to the house can be slippery. 4WD is recommended in the snowy season but the house is also accessible by parking at the entrance and walking up to the house on the rare occasions 2WD isn't doing the job.

8 minutes from Bloomville and our restaurant Table on Ten, featured in Condé Nast Traveler, Bon Appétit, Travel + Leisure, The New York Times, Remodelista, Modern Farmer and Design Tripper. The earth house offers a more remote option to the rooms above the restaurant itself, private and rural, but inheriting Table on Ten's style and aesthetic - clean, simple, open, friendly. By staying with us, you become a de facto member of the community that congregates in Bloomville; venture into the surrounding villages and enjoy the food (gathered from local farms, dairies and producers). Come over for pizza cooked in the wood fired oven on Friday evening.

Great area for hiking, bicycling, visiting antique stores, yard sales, skiing and snowshoeing in winter, horseback riding. Visit the Book Village of Hobart and the villages of Bovina, Delhi, Andes, Meredith, Cooperstown and many other undiscovered villages nearby. We can point you to trails, swimming holes, recommend farm-stands, other places to eat, walk, ride.
