What a BEAUTIFUL place!! One of our favorites on the trip FOR SURE. Lara and Eric were amazing hosts. VERY friendly, VERY helpful and kept such a wonderful, clean home. The room itself was perfect. Clean, everything we needed, decorated wonderfully etc. We enjoyed the location because it was a little way down the road from the "downtown," keeping it quiet, but also still close enough to ride bikes. They gave us great ideas for things to do while there as well, which were awesome. Thanks to you both!
Eric and Lara were very accommodating to our needs. They create a good balance of giving us space while making sure we have everything we need. The Casa Verde had the most comfortable bed we had slept on our entire trip through Costa Rica. The outdoor kitchen and dining area was amazing. We played cards outside while listening to the noises of the jungle. The black sand beach was just a two minute walk. There were a lot of good places to eat within a short distance. We had a great time on the Caribbean side and it had a lot to do with this place. I would recommend the Wild Side Casa Verde to anybody who wants to enjoy relaxation and the feel of a rain forest.
Lara was a fantastic host. Her place was welcoming and extra convenient. She was a consummate host for providing an authentic experience. I would absolutely stay here again. Pura vida!!
This little bungalow is pretty good for the price. This is not a resort experience, and its not meant to be- it felt a little like glamping. Eric and Lara did a great job giving us a chance to live like the locals and pointed us to some of their favorite spots. Eric helped us see a sloth and iguana in the trees outside our door. We rented bikes, but our favorite places we went were all within walking distance in Cocles.
Staying at the Wild Side was simply magical! The home is perfect--very clean, a comfy bed with lots of attention to detail inside the house (hooks for keys/jewelry/towels, bathrobes) and cooking in an open air kitchen was SUCH a treat! The inviting sitting areas on the front porch were wonderful - I even fell asleep in the hammock! The location of the property is fantastic--out of the hustle and bustle of the touristy part of Puerto Viejo, but close enough to access anything you may need (we had a car). Lara and Erik were super hosts--friendly, kind, very communicative, and willing to help with anything. You can tell that they put a lot of thought and pride into their property. My only regret is that I didn't get to stay here even longer!

About the Host, Lara And Eric
My name is Lara and, together with my husband Eric, we have created The Wild Side. We wanted something different than what we normally find while travelling in Costa Rica. We wanted to offer an affordable stay, but it be at the same time elegant, simple, and, above all, clean. Our concept is geared toward single travellers or couples who want a quiet place to rest, a kitchen to prepare meals, and a base to enjoy what the area offers. We are very lucky to live in one of the most perfect locations along the coast. Our houses are literally minutes from unspoiled, empty beaches. Most people tell us that they see more animals in our own yard than in the national parks!
Originally I am from Savannah, Georgia, and Eric is from Sitges, Spain. We are both dedicated surfers and enjoy the peace of natural living.
I work as a hairstylist in my own jungle salon. Eric is an artist/woodworker..his handmade wooden toys can be found in specialty shops in Puerto Viejo.
