Lara and Eric gave us a very warm welcome, even though we arrived a bit too early. The bungalow is beautifully designed and perfectly set into their amazing lot. You can enjoy privacy while watching agutis, kinkajous, frogs, butterflies and sloths from the terrace. The houses are also perfectly built for rainy days, as the terrace has a roof and you can relax in the cozy hammock. The kitchen of the bungalow is perfect for preparing breakfast yourselves. Lara was very helpful borrowing us some kitchen utensils we were missing. Everything you'll need is a bike ride away. We enjoyed our private tour in the Jaguar Rescue Center a lot (Do book a private Tour in advance. You will regret missing it!), a bike ride into Puerto Viejo as well as a day at Playa Chiquita. We can also recommend the spanish restaurant La Casita Azul. It serves amazing food. Lara and Eric own a little paradise. Enjoy it too!
Lara and Eric were great hosts. We had a lovely time staying at their bungalows! The property is walking distance to the beach and a perfect location if you want to be a little removed from the party scene of Puerto Viejo. Bike rentals right across the street, which allow for easy access to everything!
Dommage.

Very quaint and tranquil bungalow in the jungle! We enjoyed our time immensely, lots of privacy and walking distance to a secluded beach and many bars/restaurants. We rented bikes to get to Puerto Viejo and manzanillo which was very easy. We would highly recommend Lara's spot and would love to come stay again.
Lara was really great and very helpful during our whole stay at her location. We had everything we needed and more so close by and the beach was right across the main road. The wildlife was also a plus and we saw many animals we had not seen anywhere else in Costa Rica.
Casa Verde and The Wild Side was a perfect get away while staying in Puerto Viejo. It was amazing to fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle with rain trickling on the roof. The kitchen was greatly stocked and the cottage was decorated beautifully. Lara and Eric were awesome hosts. So friendly and responsive. Downtown Puerto Viejo is about 3 km from The Wild Side so a bike is necessary to rent. Biking is a wonderful and ideal way to get around and there is a bike rental with very reasonable prices about 2 minutes away. Thanks for showing us the Caribbean Lara and Eric!
We wanted to show up early and Lara was very accommodating to our needs. The place was spotless and had a wonderful eucalyptus aroma. Wild Side was peaceful and perfect for our honeymoon night. We had a great experience and lovely stay. Lara is easy to get a hold of and even pointed us in the right direction a lawyer to marry us and attractions to see in the area.

My name is Lara and, together with my husband Eric, we have created The Wild Side. We wanted something different than what we normally find while travelling in Costa Rica. We wanted to offer an affordable stay, but it be at the same time elegant, simple, and, above all, clean. Our concept is geared toward single travellers or couples who want a quiet place to rest, a kitchen to prepare meals, and a base to enjoy what the area offers.
Originally I am from Savannah, Georgia, and Eric is from Sitges, Spain. We are both dedicated surfers and enjoy the peace of natural living.
I work as a hairstylist in my own jungle salon. Eric is an artist/woodworker..his handmade wooden toys can be found in specialty shops in Puerto Viejo.
