Neighborhood highlights

‘Santa Anna Gals’, is a great place to shop for unique, one of a kind items! The owner, Kyra Neff, has become a great friend and will take great care of you. Guys, they even have something for you. GameGuard shirts and hunting apparel are a must have! Head on down Wallis Avenue and look through several of the antique stores. Mesa Emporium has a great selection of olive oils, vinegars and Texas wines! When you are ready for lunch, take off to Coleman. Coleman is a great little town about eight miles west of Santa Anna. The Owl Drugstore is definitely worth the drive! Texas Country Reporter has featured the drugstore several times. The soda fountain is packed with locals and visitors, and the famous Owl Burger is known throughout the area! If an old -fashioned soda fountain isn’t your thing, Rancho Pizzeria is incredible! Woodfired pizzas are on the menu, along with one of the best Cesar Salads ever. After lunch, check out ‘Bonnevilles,’ a great store filled with Mid Century Modern one of a kinds! Bonnie West, the owner, is wonderful! The final stop, without a doubt, should be RLV Wines. This upscale, boutique wine tasting room is unbelievable! If you are wanting an incredible dining experience, please check out Rancho Loma. This one of a kind, four-star restaurant is located approximately eight miles out of Coleman, in the big metropolitan area of Talpa. The restored 1878 farm house makes for an incredible setting. Rancho Loma has been featured in several publications such as Texas Monthly and Southern Living. Visit www.rancholoma.com for more information. Seating is limited, and reservations are a must! For those who enjoy road trips, you are in luck! San Saba, approximately a 1 ½ hours drive from Santa Anna is a great day trip. Enjoy Wedding Oak Winery and Old Man Scary Cellars for refreshments! Oliver and Co. offers meat and cheese trays that can be delivered to the wineries. The San Saba Olive Oil Company is a great place to taste and enjoy artisan olive oils and vinegars. The Jalapeno olive oil is a family favorite! Walk across the street and enjoy Harry’s Boots, one of the largest western wear stores around and filled with lots of goodies. Once you have enjoyed the San Saba downtown area, get in your car and head to the Wedding Oak tree. This majestic Oak tree is estimated to be almost 1000 years old and is one of the oldest trees in the state of Texas. Its large branches have witnessed countless weddings, thus the name Wedding Oak tree. Lastly, drive over to The Regency Bridge. Built in 1939, the Regency Bridge is the last suspension bridge in the state that is still open to traffic. Walk to the middle of the bridge for a great photo opportunity that includes a view of the Colorado River.
If wineries are your idea of a great Saturday, then you have come to the right place! There are several wineries within 30 miles of the Rockin’ H Lavender Farm. Brennan Winery is located at Comanche, Texas. This family-owned and operated winery is located at the McCrary House. Built in 1879, it is one of the oldest remaining homesteads in Texas and was designated a landmark by the Texas Historical Commission. The Spirit of Texas Winery is located at Early, Texas, on Hwy 84. Brian and Moira McCue will make you feel right at home. Their motto is, “Come Relax and UnWINEd with Us!” Lastly, the unforgettable RLV Wine Tasting Room in Coleman is a great way to end your day!
