Work in publishing and television. Happy to send along suggestions for nearby bars, restaurants, and shops, and am always available as a resource for tips and tricks for making the most of your stay. I've lived here a long time, and know where to find what you're looking for.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PLACE:
Q: Is it near the subway?
A: You won't find a home closer to the subway—literally around the corner. You don't even need to cross the street to get to it.
Q: Do you have an elevator?
A: Nope. But I am happy to help you carry luggage up the stairs. I promise it's not a big deal.
Q: Is the neighborhood safe?
A: Extraordinarily. As is the subway, 24 hours a day.
Q: Do I need to bring towels, a hair dryer, or linens?
A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with hotel-size toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is rare).
Q: What does "Flexible" check-in/-out time mean?
A: I will try to accommodate your check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need to allow them to check out and prepare the room for you. However, I can usually allow you to drop off luggage, and the room will usually be ready by noon or 1pm at the very latest. If you have a late flight, you are welcome to leave your luggage until at least the late afternoon. Late check-ins, even ones at 2am, are no problem at all (I promise you won't be bothering me).
Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please?
A: Yes and yes. And I wouldn't trust any Airbnb listing with which this isn't the case.
Q: I see I'm renting a "Private Room". How much privacy do I have?
A: An insane amount. I sleep on a separate floor with a separate bathroom and living area. You won't keep me awake, nor will you ever need to tip-toe around late at night. Basically: You have all the privacy of a private apartment, but a great guide handy.
Q: Can my friend sleep on the sofa?
A: I have a two-guest-per-booking maximum, and do not allow guests to sleep in the living room. In other words: If you aren't comfortable sharing a bed with your traveling partner, this place probably isn't for you.
Q: Do I have a private bathroom?
A: 99% yes. The large bathroom adjacent to your bedroom is yours to take over/leave your stuff in/etc. However, as it is the only bathroom on the first floor, I sometimes use it. But it's basically yours, and will feel like a private bathroom.
Q: What's my total booking price?
A: Don't ask me, as I have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest how much they pay. This figure should be present after you enter your dates.
Q: The pictures look pretty cool. Is that how the place really looks?
A: Yes. In fact, the space is actually quite a bit larger than can be seen in the photos. It is a very, very large apartment by New York standards, and there is plenty of room to stretch out and relax.
Q: Is the bed comfortable?
A: Very. It comes from CASPER (look them up to read reviews!)
One last thing: Because you read this entire listing to the end, you get bonus points for your ability to follow directions. To redeem them (for increased chance of booking!) just include the phrase "Bonus points are fun!" at the top of your message. Thanks for sticking in there!
Guests have access to an enormous and beautiful apartment in a great part of town, steps from the subway. Your private room has a private balcony, and is on a completely separate floor from where I sleep (meaning tons of privacy). You have your own bathroom, access to the kitchen, living room, and pretty much whatever else they like. You can come and go as you please, 24 hours a day, and you won't disturb me. It will feel almost like a private apartment.
Interaction with Guests
You will see me as much or as little as you want. If you'd rather I didn't exist, I understand. If you want to grab a beer and talk about your trip and getting the most out of NYC, I'm happy to (assuming I'm not slammed with work)! There are also occasions when I have to travel at the last minute. So if I have to skip town for work, I apologize, and hope you enjoy the private apartment!
Williamsburg has become world-famous for its fun, bars, restaurants, music venues, and general (once-)bohemian atmosphere. You simply won't find a younger, funner place in NYC. The apartment is steps to great restaurants, bars, cafes, and anything else you could want.
The subway is literally around the corner (you don't even need to cross the street). It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is quick and very safe—even late at night. You can get just about anywhere in the city in minutes.
The neighborhood itself is also very walkable, with tons to do, eat, shop, and drink in the immediate vicinity.
Other Things to Note
Please have a great time! And even though the area is lively and a lot of fun, the apartment itself is VERY quiet, in case that's a concern.
Once you book, I'll send you the basics. It's all pretty much common sense!
First, thank you Seth for a wonderful stay. You rock. We had a blast and we HAVE to come back!
Seth really encompasses what should be the standard of every Airbnb stay. First of all he is very helpful both prior and during your trip. He answered very quickly and in depth whenever vi had questions. Add to that that Seth also notified us during our stay whenever the L-train was cancelled – and how to get around that.
Also if there where a sweet warehouse party going on etc. He was constantly making sure that our stay was to be as good as possible.
Add to that the room was in perfect condition, clean, the bathroom was clean, big and private and the location of the apt is outstanding. Going to Manhattan/Bushwick could’nt be easier with the L line in the back yard, literally.
Finally Seths tips for restaurants, things to do and what not is the BEST. We wish we’ve had more time to explore them – all of those we tried did not dissapoint, whether it was a restaurant, a bar, a route around Williamsburg. Whatever it was it was a very good.
Finally finally Seth is a nice guy and fairly good at pinballin’. :).
Seth is so sweet. I felt really comfortable staying at his place. Seth knows his way around town so was able to help me with directions in getting around the city. I would recommend his place to anyone wanting to stay and have recommended his place to my friends. Thank you, Seth. Take care and all the best! Suzanne :)
Our stay at Seth's was fantastic! Everything is exactly as described. The apartment is great, the room is comfortable and clean, and the view of the city from the balcony and the roof terrace couldn't be better. The subway is right around the corner so it's very easy to get to Manhattan. The Williamsburg neighborhood with a lot of bars, restaurants and shops is also worth exploring! Seth was a great host, very helpful and had a lot of tips for us. Definitely a great place to stay in New York!
This was a great first AirBnb experience for us. Seth was so welcoming and gave us great pre-arrival information as well as advice for exploring the city. His apartment is clean and airy with a great view from the roof. The five flights to the apartment were a bit of a slog at the end of a long day with luggage/bags, but hey, it's good to keep fit! The subway is just around the corner which makes getting to and from Manhattan easy. Thanks a million, Seth!
Seth was a great host. We had a great time! The location is superb! Just next to the subway station. Good connection to Manhattan! With best recommendations. We would love to stay again.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay in Seth's apartment!! The room and apartment are just as described, and being literally around the corner from the subway made getting around Brooklyn and back to Manhattan so easy. It's about a ten minute walk into the heart of Williamsburg. Seth was super helpful and nice and made us feel really welcome whenever our paths crossed. Seth was super helpful and the accommodations in his gorgeous home were the best of the best! We highly recommend this home. Thanks again Seth!
