FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PLACE:
Q: Is it near the subway?
A: You won't find a home closer to the subway—literally around the corner. You don't even need to cross the street to get to it.
Q: Do you have an elevator?
A: Nope. But I am happy to help you carry luggage up the stairs. I promise it's not a big deal.
Q: Is the neighborhood safe?
A: Extraordinarily. As is the subway, 24 hours a day.
Q: Do I need to bring towels, a hair dryer, or linens?
A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with hotel-size toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is rare).
Q: What does "Flexible" check-in/-out time mean?
A: I will try to accommodate your check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need to allow them to check out and prepare the room for you. However, I can usually allow you to drop off luggage, and the room will usually be ready by noon or 1pm at the very latest. If you have a late flight, you are welcome to leave your luggage until at least the late afternoon. Late check-ins, even ones at 2am, are no problem at all (I promise you won't be bothering me).
Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please?
A: Yes and yes. And I wouldn't trust any Airbnb listing with which this isn't the case.
Q: I see I'm renting a "Private Room". How much privacy do I have?
A: An insane amount. I sleep on a separate floor with a separate bathroom and living area. You won't keep me awake, nor will you ever need to tip-toe around late at night. Basically: You have all the privacy of a private apartment, but a great guide handy.
Q: Can my friend sleep on the sofa?
A: I have a two-guest-per-booking maximum, and do not allow guests to sleep in the living room. In other words: If you aren't comfortable sharing a bed with your traveling partner, this place probably isn't for you.
Q: Do I have a private bathroom?
A: 99% yes. The large bathroom adjacent to your bedroom is yours to take over/leave your stuff in/etc. However, as it is the only bathroom on the first floor, I sometimes use it. But it's basically yours, and will feel like a private bathroom.
Q: What's my total booking price?
A: Don't ask me, as I have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest how much they pay. This figure should be present after you enter your dates.
Q: The pictures look pretty cool. Is that how the place really looks?
A: Yes. In fact, the space is actually quite a bit larger than can be seen in the photos. It is a very, very large apartment by New York standards, and there is plenty of room to stretch out and relax.
Q: Is the bed comfortable?
A: Very. It comes from CASPER (look them up to read reviews!)
One last thing: Because you read this entire listing to the end, you get bonus points for your ability to follow directions. To redeem them (for increased chance of booking!) just include the phrase "Bonus points are fun!" at the top of your message. Thanks for sticking in there!
Guests have access to an enormous and beautiful apartment in a great part of town, steps from the subway. Your private room has a private balcony, and is on a completely separate floor from where I sleep (meaning tons of privacy). You have your own bathroom, access to the kitchen, living room, and pretty much whatever else they like. You can come and go as you please, 24 hours a day, and you won't disturb me. It will feel almost like a private apartment.
Interaction with Guests
You will see me as much or as little as you want. If you'd rather I didn't exist, I understand. If you want to grab a beer and talk about your trip and getting the most out of NYC, I'm happy to (assuming I'm not slammed with work)! There are also occasions when I have to travel at the last minute. So if I have to skip town for work, I apologize, and hope you enjoy the private apartment!
Williamsburg has become world-famous for its fun, bars, restaurants, music venues, and general (once-)bohemian atmosphere. You simply won't find a younger, funner place in NYC. The apartment is steps to great restaurants, bars, cafes, and anything else you could want.
The subway is literally around the corner (you don't even need to cross the street). It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is quick and very safe—even late at night. You can get just about anywhere in the city in under a half hour, door to door.
The neighborhood itself is also very walkable, with tons to do in the immediate vicinity.
Other Things to Note
Please have a great time! And even though the area is lively and a lot of fun, the apartment itself is VERY quiet, in case that's a concern.
Once you book, I'll send you the basics. It's all pretty much common sense!
Seth is an amazing host; he made us feel at home which is a great start for any visitor. Not only that he provided us with plenty of tips for visiting, dining and going out. I was unsure about Airbnb, but staying over at Seth has left me with a great experience and homely feeling. I highly recommend anyone to stay at Seth's apartment.
Pretty much the best Airbnb ever. The place was huge, very clean, and full of fun toys (Seth even has a pair of pinball machines!) The location was great - literally around the corner from the subway, and near lots of great bars and restaurants and shops (check out Noorman’s Kil for great whiskey and grilled cheese!) The apartment is very modern in its design and decor, has tons of space, and you have a large room and private bathroom. Seth stays on a different floor, so you have a lot of privacy and it basically feels like a separate, private apartment. He also had lots of suggestions for things to do that I wouldn’t have known about - great for getting off the tourist paths. He also let me dip into his impressive whiskey collection. Really great experience. Would definitely stay again.
Our host was very helpful, timely with communication and easy to deal with. The area is fantastic and the apartment was impressive, exceeding our expectations as advertised.
Seth made me feel very welcome when I arrived in Williamsburg. The apartment was nice and clean and my room was nice with a big window. He made sure it was warm enough. The bathroom was right next door and i almost had it to myself, certainly during the night and morning. I only used the room and bathroom as there is so much to do in New York I wasn't at home apart from to sleep. It was quiet and calm when I was in. Seth was very discreet and private, but made it clear I could ask questions if I had any. The area is not at the the heart of Williamsburg's shops, bars and restaurants, but it is seconds away from the subway, its also very fast into Manhattan. I would recommend this apartment.
Nice place, the host was helpful with any questions we had. The apartment is not far from the subway, which was convenient. There were also a lot of coffee shops and grocery stores nearby. Around the corner you have a bank and a car service, which came in handy when we needed a ride to JFK airport. The apartment was quiet, a lot of times we had the place for ourselves.
We had a wonderful stay in Seth's apartment. The room and apartment are just as described, and being literally around the corner from the subway made getting around Brooklyn and back to Manhattan so easy. It's only two subway stops or about a fifteen minute walk into the heart of Williamsburg. Seth was super helpful and nice and made us feel really welcome whenever our paths crossed. (And the bed is literally the softest bed I have ever slept in - I wish I'd looked at the linen brand before we left!) Thanks again Seth!
Seth was very communicative for the few days leading up to our arrival to ensure that we had what we needed. Once we arrived, he was very helpful and while we only saw him a few times during our stay, he made sure that we had what we needed. We appreciated being able to have a few friends over to hang out in his cool living room and play his pinball machines! His apartment is pretty much as it looks in photos and the bed was comfy. Very close to the subway and a quick 10-15 minute ride to Union Square which was nice. We also appreciated his suggestions of things to do/see in NYC and wish we could have had more time to explore Brooklyn more!
