FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PLACE:
Q: Is it near the subway?
A: You won't find a home closer to the subway—literally around the corner. You don't even need to cross the street to get to it.
Q: Do you have an elevator?
A: Nope. But I am happy to help you carry luggage up the stairs. I promise it's not a big deal.
Q: Is the neighborhood safe?
A: Extraordinarily. As is the subway, 24 hours a day.
Q: Do I need to bring towels, a hair dryer, or linens?
A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with hotel-size toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is rare).
Q: What does "Flexible" check-in/-out time mean?
A: I will try to accommodate your check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need to allow them to check out and prepare the room for you. However, I can usually allow you to drop off luggage, and the room will usually be ready by noon or 1pm at the very latest. If you have a late flight, you are welcome to leave your luggage until at least the late afternoon. Late check-ins, even ones at 2am, are no problem at all (I promise you won't be bothering me).
Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please?
A: Yes and yes. And I wouldn't trust any Airbnb listing with which this isn't the case.
Q: I see I'm renting a "Private Room". How much privacy do I have?
A: An insane amount. I sleep on a separate floor with a separate bathroom and living area. You won't keep me awake, nor will you ever need to tip-toe around late at night. Basically: You have all the privacy of a private apartment, but a great guide handy.
Q: Can my friend sleep on the sofa?
A: I have a two-guest-per-booking maximum, and do not allow guests to sleep in the living room. In other words: If you aren't comfortable sharing a bed with your traveling partner, this place probably isn't for you.
Q: Do I have a private bathroom?
A: 99% yes. The large bathroom adjacent to your bedroom is yours to take over/leave your stuff in/etc. However, as it is the only bathroom on the first floor, I sometimes use it. But it's basically yours, and will feel like a private bathroom.
Q: What's my total booking price?
A: Don't ask me, as I have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest how much they pay. This figure should be present after you enter your dates.
Q: The pictures look pretty cool. Is that how the place really looks?
A: Yes. In fact, the space is actually quite a bit larger than can be seen in the photos. It is a very, very large apartment by New York standards, and there is plenty of room to stretch out and relax.
Q: Is the bed comfortable?
A: Very. It comes from CASPER (look them up to read reviews!)
One last thing: Because you read this entire listing to the end, you get bonus points for your ability to follow directions. To redeem them (for increased chance of booking!) just include the phrase "Bonus points are fun!" at the top of your message. Thanks for sticking in there!
Guests have access to an enormous and beautiful apartment in a great part of town, steps from the subway. Your private room has a private balcony, and is on a completely separate floor from where I sleep (meaning tons of privacy). You have your own bathroom, access to the kitchen, living room, and pretty much whatever else they like. You can come and go as you please, 24 hours a day, and you won't disturb me. It will feel almost like a private apartment.
Interaction with Guests
You will see me as much or as little as you want. If you'd rather I didn't exist, I understand. If you want to grab a beer and talk about your trip and getting the most out of NYC, I'm happy to (assuming I'm not slammed with work)! There are also occasions when I have to travel at the last minute. So if I have to skip town for work, I apologize, and hope you enjoy the private apartment!
Williamsburg has become world-famous for its fun, bars, restaurants, music venues, and general (once-)bohemian atmosphere. You simply won't find a younger, funner place in NYC. The apartment is steps to great restaurants, bars, cafes, and anything else you could want.
The subway is literally around the corner (you don't even need to cross the street). It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is quick and very safe—even late at night. You can get just about anywhere in the city in minutes.
The neighborhood itself is also very walkable, with tons to do, eat, shop, and drink in the immediate vicinity.
Other Things to Note
Please have a great time! And even though the area is lively and a lot of fun, the apartment itself is VERY quiet, in case that's a concern.
Once you book, I'll send you the basics. It's all pretty much common sense!
Great place with great instructions from Seth. Very comfortable place and private. Would go back there again next time I visit my son.
This was my first time using air bnb and not only was the apt as cool as it looks in the photos, Seth made it a great experience. Great communication throughout the whole process, helpful, kind and full of locals advice on where to explore to see the real NYC. He sets the bar high for other hosts to follow and I would definitely recommend him and his place to others.
Seth made a great effort to get in touch with me before the trip. He even offered to let me use one of his mobile phones while I was in New York. His place is exactly as the photos show. It's tastefully decorated and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The location same block as the subway!) is great and I totally recommend going for a walk around the neighbourhood to familiarise yourself with the area. Go find Mash and the Bear and try some of their craft beers (and delicious Russian food). And you have to make time to go enjoy the rooftop terrace! It really is fantastic. And woowww the bed is SUPER COMFY!
The apartment is tidy, modern and as shown in the photos. Seth is a very thorough communicator prior to arrival and easy to coordinate with. He was also a welcoming host and offered many suggestions about the local neighborhood that made my stay memorable. The location is close to the train and walkable to many bars and restaurants. I recommend staying here!
Seth's place served my needs perfectly for my stay in NY to attend my son's wedding. Seth was accommodating in every way, and I especially valued having my own private bath and room. About ten minutes into lower Manhattan on the L line, East Williamsburg is perfectly situated for almost anything New York. I personally recommend the Willburg Cafe (open early for a vegy breakfast) and Sage, a Thai restaurant on Graham.
Having tons of family and friends and family to spend valued time with I didn't get a chance to know Seth well at all, but he certainly seemed a happening guy in a happening neighborhood...
We had a great time staying at Seth's place. The flat was cosy and a nice place to come home to after a day in the city. It was in a quiet neighborhood so you could sleep with an open window. The subway is just around the corner. The TV-set in the living room was rather complicated but who needs that in NY City when you've got a pinballmachine you can play endlessly. Seth made us feel welcome with a gift and a tour of the flat. You have a lot of privacy as he only shares the front door and lives upstairs. He was always helpfull and gave tips on what to do or not to do. If ever going back to New York we would definitely stay here again. Don't forget to check out the roof top terrace with a great view over the Manhattan skyline.
Seth was an amazing host. He made Chris and myself feel welcomed and right at home. The place was beautiful and clean. With an amazing view. He even showed Chris the right way to play his pinball machine. He was always available to help if needed and has amazing suggestions for restaurants , bars and overall experiences throughout the city. Finding his place was easy and getting around even easier. I would definitely and have already recommend staying with Seth. I could not ask for a better stay then what Seth provided. We only wish we could have had more time.
