Hi, I'm Seth. I'm here to make sure you have the best stay in New York possible. Looking to make this trip special? Let me know and I can help you get the most out of the hidden NYC that most tourists don't see.

My place is situated in Williamsburg (undoubtedly the city's most fun and one of its most desirable neighborhoods) and is conveniently located just steps to the L line of the subway (it seriously couldn't be closer). It's a two-storey duplex, with tons of space and privacy. I stay upstairs in what is basically a separate apartment, ensuring tons of privacy. It really is huge by NYC standards and, as my reviews say, it is actually even bigger than the pictures seem to suggest.

The place includes:
-Your own bathroom, complete with a Japanese bidet toilet and rainfall shower.
-A spacious bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows and a private balcony with a killer view of Manhattan.
-Remote-controlled automatic blinds that ensure blackout darkness while you sleep on a super-comfy queen-sized foam/latex mattress.
-A Netflix and cable-equipped plasma TV in your room, with HBO and all the other premium channels (in case you want to catch up on Game of Thrones or the like)
-More privacy than any other "Private room" listing on this whole site (it's on a completely separate floor from where I sleep so I can totally stay out of your hair)
-A pinball machine!
-Super-fast Wi-Fi Internet

-FREE LAUNDRY with my washer/dryer (note: only if you are staying more than six days)
-Three outdoor terraces/balconies, including one that is a part of the room for rent (with an incredible view of Manhattan).
-Deep Jacuzzi-style tub and rain shower.
-Ridiculous amounts of natural light throughout.
-Apartment is furnished throughout with designer and custom-made furniture.
-Lots of original art throughout, most of which comes from myself and local artist friends.
-I can also usually provide hotel-size shampoo and conditioner bottles.
-Towels and linens are definitely included (just because some people ask)
-My home is a unique apartment that has been used in numerous photo and film shoots, and has been featured on numerous Web sites and television programs. It makes me happy to share it, and I hope you can enjoy it.

The place is less than one block from the L train (you don't even need to cross the street to get to it), which runs 24 hours a day and takes about 7 minutes to zoom you to the East Village and 10 minutes to Union Square. It is also a short walk to the countless bars, restaurants, grocery stores, etc... that make up Williamsburg (it's the youngest and most fun 'hood in the city!). Williamsburg is a diverse neighborhood that still has some graffiti and grit. It is very safe, but if you're looking for a sanitized touristy area, it may not be for you.

Q: Is it near the subway?
A: You won't find a home closer to the subway—literally around the corner. You don't even need to cross the street to get to it.

Q: Do you have an elevator?
A: Nope. But I am happy to help you carry luggage up the stairs if I'm around. This is what we call a New York gym and I promise it's not a big deal.

Q: Is the neighborhood safe?
A: Very much so. As is the subway, 24 hours a day.

Q: Do I need to bring towels, a hair dryer, or linens?
A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with hotel-size toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is rare).

Q: When can I check in or check out?
A: I will try to accommodate your desired check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need time to have the room professionally cleaned for you. However, I can usually allow you to drop off luggage, and the room will usually be ready by or 1 or 2pm at the very latest. If you have a late flight, you are welcome to leave your luggage until at least the late afternoon. Late check-ins, even ones at 2am, are no problem at all (I promise you won't be bothering me).

Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please?
A: Yes and yes. And I wouldn't trust any Airbnb listing with which this isn't the case.

Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests?
A: Yes, and I take pride in providing a clean home for guests.

Q: I see I'm renting a "Private Room". How much privacy do I have?
A: An insane amount. I sleep on a separate floor with a separate bathroom and living area. You won't keep me awake, nor will you ever need to tip-toe around late at night. Basically: You have all the privacy of a private apartment, but a great guide handy.

Q: Can my friend sleep on the sofa?
A: I have a two-guest-per-booking maximum, and do not allow guests to sleep in the living room. In other words: If you aren't comfortable sharing a bed with your traveling partner, this place probably isn't for you.

Q: Do I have a private bathroom?
A: 99% yes. The large bathroom adjacent to your bedroom is yours to take over/leave your stuff in/etc. However, as it is the only bathroom on the first floor, I sometimes use it. But it's basically yours, and will feel like a private bathroom.

Q: What's my total booking price?
A: I honestly have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest how much they pay. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and Airbnb actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so I don't actually control this.

Q: The pictures look pretty cool. Is that how the place really looks?
A: Yes. In fact, the space is actually quite a bit larger than can be seen in the photos. It is a very, very large apartment by New York standards, and there is plenty of room to stretch out and relax.

Q: Is the bed comfortable?
A: Very. Some guests say it's the best they've ever slept on!
One last thing: I really, really appreciate that you followed directions and read the whole thing. Please put the phrase "Bonus points are fun!" at the top of your message so I know you did so as such bookings tend to go so much smoother! And thanks for hanging in there!

Guest Access

Guests have access to an enormous and beautiful apartment in a great part of town, steps from the subway. Your private room has a private balcony, and is on a completely separate floor from where I sleep (meaning tons of privacy). You have your own bathroom, access to the kitchen, living room, and pretty much whatever else you like. You can come and go as you please, 24 hours a day, and you won't disturb me. It will feel almost like a private apartment. I also offer free laundry drop-off service for guests staying at least six nights.

Interaction with Guests

That's up to you! If you'd rather I didn't exist, I understand. If you want to grab a beer and talk about your trip and getting the most out of NYC, I'm happy to (assuming I'm not slammed with work)! There are also occasions when I have to travel at the last minute. So if I have to skip town for work, I apologize, and hope you enjoy the private apartment!

The Neighborhood

Williamsburg has become world-famous for its fun, bars, restaurants, music venues, and general (once-)bohemian atmosphere. It still has a bit of graffiti and grit and is full of vibrant ethnic enclaves but is very safe and you simply won't find a younger, funner place in NYC. The apartment is steps to great restaurants (probably the best in the city), bars (definitely the best in the city), cafes, and anything else you could want.
Within a few minutes' walk you'll find: a huge arcade bar, a whiskey-slash-grilled-cheese bar, the most famous steakhouse in the country, dirt-cheap dives, incredible speakeasy cocktail bars, and the best pizza place in NYC.

Getting Around

The subway (L train) is literally around the corner (you don't even need to cross the street). It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is quick and very safe—even late at night. You can get just about anywhere in the city in minutes. Union Square is about 10 minutes away, the East Village about 7 minutes. It really is about as convenient a location as you'll find for getting around.
We also have several CitiBike bike-share stations within steps of the building. For $10 a day (or a longer-term subscription), you get unlimited access to these bikes, parked throughout the entire city.
The neighborhood itself is also very walkable, with tons to do, eat, shop, and drink in the immediate vicinity. Be like the locals and walk!

Other Things to Note

Please have a great time! And even though the area is lively and a lot of fun, the apartment itself is VERY quiet, in case that's a concern. Oh, and while it's a walk-up, I'm happy to help with luggage if I'm home.

-Be a nice person and view the fact that you aren't in a hotel as a good thing!
