Enormous luxury duplex apartment, steps to the subway. Comes with tons of privacy and a private bathroom. Situated in Williamsburg, one of the city's best and most fun neighborhoods.

The Space

Welcome to the best place in Williamsburg, New York's best and most fun neighborhood:
Steps to subway... your own bathroom... room with private balcony with view of Manhattan... remote-control automatic blinds... Netflix-enabled plasma TV in room... tons of privacy (your room is on its own floor)...

My home has been featured on...
*CBS' The Early Show... *Gizmodo... *Financially Fit... *Frommer's... *The Next Web... *Fast Company... *Forbes... *The New York Post... *Airbnb TV... *The film "The Unloveables"

NOTE: PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING before inquiring. If you have any questions about the place, chances are they are answered below. As a matter of security, I also ask that you fill your profile out fully and add a picture before inquiring about a stay. I do not accept bookings from blank profiles. Thanks!

NOTE 2: No long-term rentals, so please don't ask!

-FREE LAUNDRY with my washer/dryer (note: only if you are staying more than six days)
-Japanese-style bidet toilet with heated seat. Basically a robotic spa toilet.
-Personal bathroom
-Super-fast Wi-Fi Internet
-Three outdoor terraces/balconies, including one that is a part of the room for rent (with an incredible view of Manhattan).
-Deep Jacuzzi-style tub and rain shower.
-An actual full-size playable pinball machine.
-Central heating and air-conditioning.
-Steps to subway (less than 1 block to L Train!)

The place:
-One of the nicest apartments you'll ever see in Williamsburg. Two-story duplex, 1200 square feet total. The room for rent is on a different floor from our room, so there is tons of privacy (and you don't need to worry about disturbing me if you come in late).
-Wi-Fi, plasma flatscreen TV, all game systems, streaming Netflix, stainless steel kitchen with blender, juicer, French press for coffee, and espresso machine.
-Ridiculous amounts of natural light throughout.
-Apartment is furnished throughout with designer furniture (some of which is custom-made).
-Lots of original art throughout (most of which comes from myself and my friends).
-My home is a unique apartment that has been used in numerous photo and film shoots, and has been featured on numerous Web sites and television programs (you can a partial list above.)

The place is less than one block from the L train (you don't even need to cross the street to get to it), which runs 24 hours a day and takes about 7 minutes to zoom you to the East Village and 10 minutes to Union Square. It is also a short walk to the countless bars, restaurants, grocery stores, etc... that make up Williamsburg (it's the youngest and most fun 'hood in the city!)

Your room:
-Fully furnished with bed, dresser, desk, and a huge flatscreen TV with streaming Netflix.
-Towels included (just cause some people ask)
-Foor-to-ceiling windows and a private balcony overlooking Manhattan.
-As I said: Room is on different floor from me, so there are extreme amounts of privacy.
-Remote-control automatic blinds
-Comes with a selection of NYC guidebooks
-I can also usually provide hotel-size shampoo and conditioner bottles.

About me:
Work in publishing and television. Happy to send along suggestions for nearby bars, restaurants, and shops, and am always available as a resource for tips and tricks for making the most of your stay. I've lived here a long time, and know where to find what you're looking for.

Q: Is it near the subway?
A: You won't find a home closer to the subway—literally around the corner. You don't even need to cross the street to get to it.

Q: Do you have an elevator?
A: Nope. But I am happy to help you carry luggage up the stairs. I promise it's not a big deal.

Q: Is the neighborhood safe?
A: Extraordinarily. As is the subway, 24 hours a day.

Q: Do I need to bring towels, a hair dryer, or linens?
A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with hotel-size toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is rare).

Q: What does "Flexible" check-in/-out time mean?
A: I will try to accomodate your check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need to allow them to check out and prepare the room for you. However, I can usually allow you to drop off luggage, and the room will usually be ready by noon or 1pm at the very latest. If you have a late flight, you are welcome to leave your luggage until at least the late afternoon. Late check-ins, even ones at 2am, are no problem at all (I promise you won't be bothering me).

Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please?
A: Yes and yes. And I wouldn't trust any Airbnb listing with which this isn't the case.

Q: I see I'm renting a "Private Room". How much privacy do I have?
A: An insane amount. I sleep on a separate floor with a separate bathroom and living area. You won't keep me awake, nor will you ever need to tip-toe around late at night. Basically: You have all the privacy of a private apartment, (email hidden) handy.

Q: Can my friend sleep on the sofa?
A: I have a two-guest-per-booking maximum, and do not allow guests to sleep in the living room. In other words: If you aren't comfortable sharing a bed with your traveling partner, this place probably isn't for you.

Q: Do I have a private bathroom?
A: 99% yes. The large bathroom adjacent to your bedroom is yours to take over/leave your stuff in/etc. However, as it is the only bathroom on the first floor, I sometimes use it. But it's basically yours, and will feel like a private bathroom.

Q: What's my total booking price?
A: Don't ask me, as I have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows you how much you pay. This figure should be present after you enter your dates.

Q: Can I cook/use the kitchen?
A: Definitely! Leave stuff in the fridge too.

Q: The pictures look pretty cool. Is that how the place really looks?
A: Yes. In fact, the space is actually quite a bit larger than can be seen in the photos. It is a very, very large apartment by New York standards, and there is plenty of room to stretch out and relax.

Q: Is the bed comfortable?
A: Very.
One last thing: Because you read this entire listing to the end, you get bonus points for your ability to follow directions. To redeem them (for increased chance of booking!) just include the phrase "Bonus points are fun!" at the top of your message. Thanks for sticking in there!

Guest Access

Guests have access to an enormous and beautiful apartment in a great part of town, steps from the subway. Your private room has a private balcony, and is on a completely separate floor from where I sleep (meaning tons of privacy). You have your own bathroom, access to the kitchen, living room, and pretty much whatever else they like. You can come and go as you please, 24 hours a day, and you won't disturb me. It will feel almost like a private apartment.

Interaction with Guests

You will see me as much or as little as you want. If you'd rather I didn't exist, I understand. If you want to grab a beer and talk about your trip and getting the most out of NYC, I'm happy to (assuming I'm not slammed with work)! There are also occasions when I have to travel at the last minute. So if I have to skip town for work, I apologize, and hope you enjoy the private apartment!

The Neighborhood

Williamsburg has become world-famous for its fun, bars, restaurants, music venues, and general (once-)bohemian atmosphere. You simply won't find a younger, funner place in NYC. The apartment is steps to great restaurants, bars, cafes, and anything else you could want.

Getting around

The subway is literally around the corner (you don't even need to cross the street). It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is quick and very safe—even late at night. You can get just about anywhere in the city in under a half hour, door to door.
The neighborhood itself is also very walkable, with tons to do in the immediate vicinity.

Other Things to Note

Please have a great time! And even though the area is lively and a lot of fun, the apartment itself is VERY quiet, in case that's a concern.

  • Seth's apartment was nice and modern, close to the subway and comfortable. Seth was friendly and gave us good suggestions for things to do. My only suggestion is if you are booking this apartment to bring an eye shade as the light comes in quite strong in the morning.

    Response from Seth:

Thanks for your review! The guest room actually has a black-out blind system that is remote-controlled, it completely blocks light from entering the room. If I forgot to show it to you guys when you checked in, I deeply apologize!

  • We had a great stay at Seth's. He was super accommodating and his tips were extremely helpful. The neighborhood is great and his apartment couldn't be in a better location, super safe and right around the corner from the subway! The room itself was great and it felt like we had a whole floor to ourselves. Seth's a great guy, you couldn't find a better place to stay in Williamsburg.

  • Seth is the man! He was a very gracious host who ensured we had everything we needed for our stay. He gave us great suggestions for what to do in the neighborhood and throughout the city. Plus, his place is awesome! We had our own bathroom and what felt like an entire floor of the apartment. We had plenty of privacy but he was still extremely available to help guide us toward his curated experience of the city (the guy knows his town well). Anyone looking for a great place to stay in the city should contact Seth. We can't thank him enough for a great stay.

  • We really scored with a host like Seth for a first-timers visit to NYC. In such an overwhelming city we were so lucky to have Seth guide us in the right direction. Our most memorable moment of the trip came from one of Seth's suggestions - Museum Hack - highly recommend!
The apartment was such a haven from the hustle and bustle, and the location was prime. We loved the coffee shop round the corner - Lulu bean - awesome bagels!
Seth's is definitely the place to stay for your NYC visit.

  • Seth's apartment was fantastic! It is very much the same as advertised. As a host, Seth was extremely accommodating and had plenty of great tips for places to check out in the area. He was friendly and very easy to get in touch with. The location was perfect with easy access to the L train. I'd definitely return on my next visit to NYC.
