--
Welcome to the best place in Williamsburg, New York's best and most fun neighborhood:
Steps to subway... your own bathroom... room with private balcony with view of Manhattan... remote-control automatic blinds... Netflix-enabled plasma TV in room... tons of privacy (your room is on its own floor)...

My home has been featured on...
*CBS' The Early Show... *Gizmodo... *Frommer's... *The Next Web... *Fast Company... *Forbes... *The New York Post... *Airbnb TV... *The film "The Unloveables"

NOTE: PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING before inquiring. If you have any questions about the place, chances are they are answered below.

NOTE 2: No long-term rentals, so please don't ask!

AMENITIES:
-FREE LAUNDRY with my washer/dryer (note: only if you are staying more than six days)
-Japanese-style bidet toilet with heated seat. Basically a robotic spa toilet.
-Personal bathroom
-Super-fast Wi-Fi Internet
-Three outdoor terraces/balconies, including one that is a part of the room for rent (with an incredible view of Manhattan).
-Deep Jacuzzi-style tub and rain shower.
-TWO full-size playable pinball machines (AC/DC and Elton John games).
-Central heating and air-conditioning.
-Remote-control automatic blinds ensure blackout darkness while sleeping.
-Super-comfy queen-size Casper bed
-Steps to subway (less than 1 block to L Train!)

The place:
-One of the nicest apartments you'll ever see in Williamsburg. Two-story duplex, 1200 square feet total. The room for rent is on a different floor from my room, so there is tons of privacy (and you don't need to worry about disturbing me if you come in late).
-Wi-Fi, plasma flatscreen TV, all game systems, streaming Netflix, stainless steel kitchen with blender, juicer, French press for coffee, and espresso machine.
-Ridiculous amounts of natural light throughout.
-Apartment is furnished throughout with designer furniture (some of which is custom-made).
-Lots of original art throughout (most of which comes from myself and my friends).
-My home is a unique apartment that has been used in numerous photo and film shoots, and has been featured on numerous Web sites and television programs (you can see a partial list above.)

The place is less than one block from the L train (you don't even need to cross the street to get to it), which runs 24 hours a day and takes about 7 minutes to zoom you to the East Village and 10 minutes to Union Square. It is also a short walk to the countless bars, restaurants, grocery stores, etc... that make up Williamsburg (it's the youngest and most fun 'hood in the city!). The area is a diverse neighborhood that still has some graffiti and and grit. It's very safe, but if you're looking for a sanitized touristy area, it may not be for you.

Your room:
-Fully furnished with queen-sized CASPER bed, dresser, desk, and a huge flatscreen TV with streaming Netflix.
-Towels included (just cause some people ask)
-Floor-to-ceiling windows and a private balcony overlooking Manhattan.
-As I said: Room is on different floor from me, so there are extreme amounts of privacy.
-Remote-control automatic blinds
-Comes with a selection of NYC guidebooks
-I can also usually provide hotel-size shampoo and conditioner bottles.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PLACE:
Q: Is it near the subway?
A: You won't find a home closer to the subway—literally around the corner. You don't even need to cross the street to get to it.

Q: Do you have an elevator?
A: Nope. But I am happy to help you carry luggage up the stairs. I promise it's not a big deal.

Q: Is the neighborhood safe?
A: Extraordinarily. As is the subway, 24 hours a day.

Q: Do I need to bring towels, a hair dryer, or linens?
A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with hotel-size toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is rare).

Q: What does "Flexible" check-in/-out time mean?
A: I will try to accommodate your check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need to allow them to check out and prepare the room for you. However, I can usually allow you to drop off luggage, and the room will usually be ready by noon or 1pm at the very latest. If you have a late flight, you are welcome to leave your luggage until at least the late afternoon. Late check-ins, even ones at 2am, are no problem at all (I promise you won't be bothering me).

Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please?
A: Yes and yes. And I wouldn't trust any Airbnb listing with which this isn't the case.

Q: I see I'm renting a "Private Room". How much privacy do I have?
A: An insane amount. I sleep on a separate floor with a separate bathroom and living area. You won't keep me awake, nor will you ever need to tip-toe around late at night. Basically: You have all the privacy of a private apartment, but a great guide handy.

Q: Can my friend sleep on the sofa?
A: I have a two-guest-per-booking maximum, and do not allow guests to sleep in the living room. In other words: If you aren't comfortable sharing a bed with your traveling partner, this place probably isn't for you.

Q: Do I have a private bathroom?
A: 99% yes. The large bathroom adjacent to your bedroom is yours to take over/leave your stuff in/etc. However, as it is the only bathroom on the first floor, I sometimes use it. But it's basically yours, and will feel like a private bathroom.

Q: What's my total booking price?
A: Don't ask me, as I have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest how much they pay. This figure should be present after you enter your dates.

Q: The pictures look pretty cool. Is that how the place really looks?
A: Yes. In fact, the space is actually quite a bit larger than can be seen in the photos. It is a very, very large apartment by New York standards, and there is plenty of room to stretch out and relax.

Q: Is the bed comfortable?
A: Very. It comes from CASPER (look them up to read reviews!)

One last thing: Because you read this entire listing to the end, you get bonus points for your ability to follow directions. To redeem them (for increased chance of booking!) just include the phrase "Bonus points are fun!" at the top of your message. Thanks for sticking in there!

Thanks!

Guest Access

Guests have access to an enormous and beautiful apartment in a great part of town, steps from the subway. Your private room has a private balcony, and is on a completely separate floor from where I sleep (meaning tons of privacy). You have your own bathroom, access to the kitchen, living room, and pretty much whatever else you like. You can come and go as you please, 24 hours a day, and you won't disturb me. It will feel almost like a private apartment. I also offer free laundry drop-off service for guests staying at least six nights.

Interaction with Guests

You will see me as much or as little as you want. If you'd rather I didn't exist, I understand. If you want to grab a beer and talk about your trip and getting the most out of NYC, I'm happy to (assuming I'm not slammed with work)! There are also occasions when I have to travel at the last minute. So if I have to skip town for work, I apologize, and hope you enjoy the private apartment!

The Neighborhood

Williamsburg has become world-famous for its fun, bars, restaurants, music venues, and general (once-)bohemian atmosphere. It still has a bit of graffiti and grit and is full of vibrant ethnic enclaves but is very safe and you simply won't find a younger, funner place in NYC. The apartment is steps to great restaurants (probably the best in the city), bars (definitely the best in the city), cafes, and anything else you could want.
Within a few minutes walking are a huge arcade bar, a whiskey-slash-grilled-cheese bar, the most famous steakhouse in the country, dirt-cheap dives, incredible speakeasy cocktail bars, and the best pizza place in NYC.

Getting Around

The subway (L train) is literally around the corner (you don't even need to cross the street). It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is quick and very safe—even late at night. You can get just about anywhere in the city in minutes. Union Square is about 10 minutes away, the East Village about 8 minutes. It really is about as convenient a location as you'll find for getting around.
We also have several CitiBike bike-share stations within steps of the building. For $10 a day (or a longer-term subscription), you get unlimited access to these bikes, parked throughout the entire city.
The neighborhood itself is also very walkable, with tons to do, eat, shop, and drink in the immediate vicinity. Be like the locals and walk!

Other Things to Note

Please have a great time! And even though the area is lively and a lot of fun, the apartment itself is VERY quiet, in case that's a concern. Oh, and while it's a walk-up, I'm happy to help with luggage if I'm home.

House Rules

It's all pretty much common sense!
-We keep our shoes off inside. It's just better that way.
-Please don't smoke inside. You have a balcony for this, so please close the door so smoke doesn't drift inside and don't throw your butts down below (people live down there!)
-Please clean up after yourself. No need to hand-wash dishes (can just toss them in the dishwasher and I'll handle); except for pans, chef's knives, and wood things.
-Be a nice person and view the fact that you aren't in a hotel as a good thing!
