This is our own personal apartment, which we use for occasional visits to Quito and we endeavour to keep it in top condition. It is situated in a quiet part of the city away from the noise and pollution of the colonial centre, but within easy reach of both the old city and new parts of Quito including the Mariscal.
Interaction with Guests
The apartment is looked after by Susana's sister in law, Ruthy. She and her son Jorge will meet you at the apartment to hand over the key and deal with any questions you have.
Just 100m up the road you will find the beautiful courtyard cafe, Warmi, and at the top of the hill, the upmarket shops and cafes of Av Gonzales Suarez. Hotel Quito offers top notch meals from its penthouse restaurant, or take a swim at its outdoor pool. There are some great restaurants in Avenida Isabel La Católica.
Provisions can be bought from the well stocked Supermaxi -a short taxi ride away in La Floresta.
Take a walk down the hill to the village of Guapulo -home to artists. On the first bend is the corner shop, selling croissants and daily provisions. A little further down you can find the gift shop, Rayuela, selling beautiful arts and crafts, followed by a number of bars and cafes. Continue to the bottom to see the fantastic Sanctuary of Guapulo, Quito's oldest church, before taking a taxi back to the top along a different route.
You can get to the Mariscal or the Old City by taxi for £3.00-4.00 or buses are cheap at 25c. If you decide to hire a car, there is a parking space at the front of the building.
The apartment is looked after by Susana's sister in law. She will meet at the apartment to show you round and handover the keys -please do advise your approximate time of arrival so that she can be there, as she is based some distance away.

You must handover the keys to Ruthy on departure, please.
Great apartment! Really felt like home to us with the equipped kitchen and cosy living room. It's a bit more worn that pictures suggest but overall very nice and the view's fantastic! Excellent communication with Chris, Jorge and Ruthy!
The apartment is excellent. Perfectly situated behind Hotel Quito providing easy access to Quito city and Cumbaya (conference centre). The view from both living room and bedroom is spectacular.
Also by far the most useful information pack I have ever received outlining places to go shopping/eating etc.
The internet works quite well and all necessary amenities are provided. The apartment seems to be in a very safe area and we were not concerned even walking out at night to get a taxi etc.
Highly recommend it and would love to return at some point.
Staying in this lovely apartment was a wonderful experience--the place is amazing. I felt I had found exactly the right place to be able to accomplish what I needed to do in Quito.
Thank you so much, Chris.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone. May God bless you.
We spent two great weeks at Chris's apartment in Quito. Excellent in every respect! Communication with Chris (and Jorge, who takes care of the place) was extremely easy. We were arriving very late from Lima and arranged to have Jorge pick us up, which is wise. The apartment is exactly as pictured, with a gorgeous view over Guápulo, wonderful safe location that is walkable to the many restaurants and cafes on Isabela Catolica, etc. Immaculately clean. Quick cab ride into the New Town or the Centro. We loved how quiet it was, loved being able to get up and make some breakfast in the morning and watch the view while getting ready for another day in Quito. Highly recommended!
Great apartment! I would gladly come back. The location is really nice: only $3-4 ride on taxi to the Old Town. Quite, safe neighborhood. It's steps away from Hotel Quito. A few cute restaurants nearby. The apt. itself is very clean and cozy. Chris and Jorge really make sure you have a comfortable stay.
What an amazing place! The apartment is lovely, comfortable and the view is extraordinarily beautiful and we've been taken care of thought- and respectfully throughout our stay. Thank you so much Chris, Jorge and Ruthy!
We stayed 5 days in Chris apartment and we had a very good time in Quito.
The apartment had everything we needed and was as described with an amazing view It was easy to get a cab to go downtown for 3 bucks....
Thanks Ruthie and Jorge for your help

I am British with an Ecuadorean wife -we live in Bristol in the UK but have been travelling to Quito for 25 years.
In 2005 we bought a small apartment in Quito that we rent out on a short term basis. We have hosted many visitors over the last eight years and enjoy helping visitors to discover Ecuador. We try to get to stay in Quito at least once a year, and enjoy our little refuge in the mountains with its views.
I am an architect, with my own practice in the UK. Susana is a doctor. Our son James is doing a PhD in evolutionary biology in the University of Southern California, and our daughter Maria is an actress working in London.
