Chris' place is as fantastic as described. The view is just excellent and I can lean on the couch and enjoy it all day long. It's spacious and clean, with all necessary amenities for living, except for the absence of a dryer. Ruthy brought a lot of snacks and coffee as gifts, thanks! I think the address is not so accurate. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps provided the wrong location. The doorman, Jose, was really nice, who helped watch the traffic every time we tried to park. Unfortunately, there was something wrong with the hot water. As soon as I talked to Chris, Ruthy and Veronica came quickly and tried to fix it. However, it seemed the water heater was broken and the water was either too hot or cold.

Thanks Shirley, glad you enjoyed the stay. The hair dryer is kept in the bathroom cabinet. Sorry about the erratic hot water -we have ordered a new water heater. Hope to see you again one day.

This apartment was a delight. There are huge windows in the living room and bed room with fantastic views. it is nicely and comfortably furnished and decorated. Everyone I met was welcoming and very friendly, quite a contrast with the northeast USA. If I return to Quito, this is where I will stay

chris' place is quite possibly the best located apartment in Quito if you want some tranquillity vibes whilst also being close to the action. Chris and family were lovely and very communicative, especially for such a last minute booking! The place is very commodious, the kitchen was reasonably well equipped and the views are so lush! Bonus points for a great roof terrace too :)

The view here is truly wonderful, the building would be considered very "good" and the apartment is modern, highly functional with all of the amenities -- as well as being located close enough to the city to be convenient without being soaked in the traffic-generated pollution of downtown Quito. The family of Chris helped with airport taxis and responded to questions or deal with apartment kinks very willingly. Hotel Quito is indeed right nearby with its pool, facilities, and ready access to cabs. The cleaner who came in mid-week was magnificent and for a little extra money did my laundry -- or you can use the wash machine in the laundry room yourself. On the down side, the young woman who was our next door neighbor likes to party a bit too much - so families planning to put young children on the sleep away couch in the living room would be advised to think again. (The bedroom in the back was calm and far removed.) A very pleasant guard was posted at the building entrance during daytime and early evening - this definitely adds to the sense of security but practically he wasn't of much use for the main thing i needed cabs -- he had no idea of who to call although he helped me wave some down on the street a few times, I had been advised that it is better to order by phone. So whole experience would be vastly helped by a house rules sheet explaining how to get cabs, where nearby to buy milk, foodstuffs and bottled water, and who exactly to call for what kind of help (there were so many well meaning family members involved that it wasn't entirely clear right away who I needed to speak with for certain issues, e.g. when the internet broke). Having said this, the owners are honest, entirely devoted to making their guests have a good experience, and I am sure will rapidly address these points. All in all I still loved this place. The location is superb, the view is indeed unequaled.

Chris was in away during my stay, but he was kind enough to call me twice (from England!) to make sure everything was to my liking. His caretakers for the apartment were incredibly prompt and helpful when questions or problems arose. The apartment itself is absolutely fantastic! Incredible views of Guapulo and the mountains every morning upon waking, a fully stocked kitchen, modern furnishings, an incredibly comfortable bed, with a security guard and cleaning service included. It's a 10 min walk to all the great restaurants in La Floresta and only a 15 min cab ride to the old centre. The neighborhood is very quiet except during morning rush hour, when traffic drives up through Guapulo, but it's not bad at all. The only issue was the shower, which was either cool or steaming hot. Overall, highly recommended, especially for long term stays.

The apartment is lovely, with gorgeous views and fast access to key places in the city (though perhaps not the old town). Walking downhill from the street of the house, there are cute shops and bohemian bars. The apartment was quiet and secure. Chris was quick to respond to my emails, and his family on the ground in Quito was on time and very helpful. When an issue arose, the family swooped in and handled it quickly. Great hosts, easy to communicate with.

I am British with an Ecuadorean wife -we live in Bristol in the UK but have been travelling to Quito for 25 years.

In 2005 we bought a small apartment in Quito that we rent out on a short term basis. We have hosted many visitors over the last eight years and enjoy helping visitors to discover Ecuador. We try to get to stay in Quito at least once a year, and enjoy our little refuge in the mountains with its views.

I am an architect, with my own practice in the UK. Susana is a doctor. Our son James is doing a PhD in evolutionary biology in the University of Southern California, and our daughter Maria is an actress working in London.
