The neighbourhood is friendly and quiet but with many interesting things for tourists to do. There are speciality shops and boutiques, cafes and restaurants, great walking trails, wineries nearby, and beautiful public gardens to wander in and explore.
Public transport does exist in the form of a train from Melbourne to Belgrave (end of the line) which is a 15 minute drive from our place. Buses do run from Belgrave to us and around the area but they are not frequent. We strongly recommend that anyone staying here come by car. We have off-street parking available. (If using GPS to find us it is best to avoid all gravel roads until you reach ours).

Graeme and Sheilas house was perfectly located for our trip back to Melbourne. Their home is fascinating and unique with amazing views down the garden and across the valley. We were met by Sheila and shown our room which was located on the lowest floor. The bed was extremely comfortable and had great linen. Getting our bags down stairs and into the room was a little tricky. There were some nice touches like the fresh flowers on the bedside table. They were very trusting and gave us a house key for entry on our return from our evening meal. There are no restaurants within walking distance. We had a nice chat with Graeme over breakfast was a help yourself affair which was fine
This was one of the most relaxing getaways I have had. Graeme and Sheila were lovely and their house and garden is amazing. You can't help but feel relaxed. I would definitely stay here again.
As we were travelling with another couple this house was perfect as we both had our own rooms and our own entrances if required. Our friends stayed in this room which Looked over the garden and were very comfortable. They had no complaints about anything and enjoyed their stay as much as we did in the "mountain view" room. Please also read my review of this room - "Mountain Views", as this will give you an overall review of Graeme and Sheila's lovely house and how we were made to feel most welcome. If you have a choice of rooms I think the mountain view room is a lighter airy room, but this room "amongst the tree tops" is ideal for summer months as it is lower in the house and therefore cooler. Everything is thought of and there were even coats hanging up if you required them to walk around the beautiful gardens. Thanks Sheila and Graeme.
We went to the Belgrave Outdoor cinema and decided to stay in the Dandenongs for the night so we booked ourselves into Graeme and Sheila's home. It was brilliant. Clean, comfy bed, remarkable gardens, friendly poodles and cats... Sheila even lent us blankets and jackets for the cinema. Next time we're here, we'll definitely stay again.
From the moment we arrived, being greeted by Sheila and the poodles, to hand feeding a king parrot once out the balcony, I knew it was going to be a wonderful holiday and it was. The room was clean and beautifully presented, the house is fabulous with stunning views, and the area is full of things to explore. Our plans to spend time in the city were put to the side, and we loved having coffee locally, enjoyed nature walks and gardens close by, and saw our first lyre bird! Graeme and Sheila are wonderful hosts; warm, welcoming and full of knowledge. Thank you for a wonderful start to 2015!
Graeme & Shiela were very welcoming, we found it a great little quiet & cosy, peaceful getaway from Melbourne. Easy for a night or two. Hopefully we'll be back there again someday;) Thank you for your hospitality!
