We booked the whole house for a week before our son's college graduation. We have two well behaved labs and LOVED that we could have them with us. Eric's house was quite roomy and very comfortable. Lots of nice host touches - lots of towels, pillows, we had a washer and dryer and…

It was great! The house kinda smelled like dog, but we expected that based on the owner's comments and other reviews. Awesome value for a lot of space, and the location was pretty nice (good food and beer within walking distance etc.) Eric showed up on the last day at 10:55 AM -…

Was way bigger than expected, way more than I needed for little old me . Not complaining, just saying. Super cozy and warm. I liked that I got to do laundry while I was there . Tons of little , thoughtful things like chapstick, floss in the house . Eric was super communicative, …

Really great location right near the downtown - we got the house to ourselves and our dogs which was really great but the smell was definitely really strong throughout the whole house

This originally was a rental for a party of 8 people. Living in FL we were impacted by Hurricane Irma and had to cancel our portion of the trip. After some correspondence with Eric he agreed to allow me to name another person in my group as the responsible member. The followin…

Response from Eric:
Try to keep this short and sweet, but I don't agree with everything that was said on here. The floors were vacuumed and mopped an hour before they arrived. I don't know what they mean by they were dirty, not sure what else I could do to make them cleaner. The clean dishes one was a surprise and if true unfortunate. I rarely use dishes, so what might have happened is another guest used some and didn't clean them properly and put them back. Regarding the house smell, while I agree I am nose deaf from living with my dog I hear from many people including friends and guests it doesn't smell that bad. It definitely does smell like a dog lives here because one does live here. Depending on the person and if they have a dog, the smell might be worse to others. Two window screens are ripped. One in the porch will be replaced when I make it a 3 season. The other one in the dining room is still functional in my opinion. I personally don't have issues with gnats or mosquitoes so it is interesting this happened at a time I was away. The tub was cleaned ahead of time, and there is some buildup of mold in the grout. It is something you will always have, and you try to mitigate. It needs to be cleaned again more thoroughly. The book of rules is wrote in a sarcastic humorous way, but humor is subjective. In the beginning I say please don't take it personally, so I am sorry not sorry they can't take a joke and got defensive. I arrived 2 hours early because I work from home, and I made the assumption that since it was a Monday most of the party had left and it wouldn't be a big deal if I was on my computer working. When I arrived only one person was left and I didn't see a problem with me being there. When I do full house rentals I like to arrive before guests leave to make sure they didn't forget anything and also check on the house before they leave in case something isn't right. I understand if you rent a house you don't expect to the host to be there, but at the same time it is my home and I want to make sure it wasn't trashed or things were stole, both of which I have experienced. It would be one thing if I was barging into bedrooms while people are sleeping, but I was in the dining room working.

I began hosting on Airbnb in May of 2014, and what began as something I had plan on doing part time to help pay for rent has been more successful and fun than I ever anticipated. I really enjoy sharing my home and having people meet my super friendly St. Bernard Dempsey. I also…
