Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
A beautiful one-hundred year old Richard Sharp Smith historic home in Montford neighborhood. 3 blocks from the center of town, 5-15 minute walk to everything. High speed wi-fi and cable tv, mini fridge, coffee and tea station in each room, private en-suite bathroom, outdoor spaces for relaxation.

The space
You will be staying in the "Blue Room". This is downstairs and accessed by the front door of the home. The room is the first door on your left in the hallway. You will have access to the front porch, the front guest parlor, your room with the private en suite bathroom, and outdoor backyard pergola with table and chairs, with relaxing furniture. I do have child friendly things like eating utensils, games, toys, along with a pack n play and a rollaway. This home is a quick 10 minute walk from the center of downtown. This historic neighborhood is peaceful, yet only a short walk to all the fun activities downtown. Fantastic restaurants nearby, the US Cellular Center, and St. Lawrence Basilica are only three blocks away. We are a 5 minute drive from UNCA.. You won't need to move your car once you are settled in, unless you decide to go to the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village, 10 minutes away. Easy access to the Blue Ridge parkway, NC Arboretum, Folk Art Center and much more!

Guest access
This calendar reflects the reservations for the "Blue Room". The Blue room is on the first floor . It has one queen bed and has an en suite bathroom. The room has mimi-split air conditioner, Roku/Cable TV, mini- fridge, Coffee /tea station, high speed wi-fi, access to outdoor pergola with table and chairs for outdoor dining as well as relaxing furniture. We have a “roll-away” available for a $20 charge for one extra guest. There are some amazing places to eat within a 5-minute walk.

During your stay
Now that we have received “SuperHost" status, we will do everything to keep that honor. I have a really easy-going manner and love to laugh and have fun! Lots of nice people moving through, but yet a very mellow place. You are free to come and go as you please and basically just feel at home. If you ask me, I will be happy to help you with whatever your needs are, and I have a supply of maps and suggestions to make the most of your visit. I do teach afternoon music lessons in the house (flute/voice/ piano) Monday - Friday

Other things to note
I would like to note that this is a Home-stay, as Jeff and I do live in the house. Please park on the Elizabeth st side. Also, the day of your arrival, a general ETA is very much appreciated!

I have two small short-haired kitties, Sebastian and Sasha, real sweet and mellow. They stay outside most of the time and are never allowed in guest rooms for those who might be slightly allergic. I have had several guests stay who are allergic to cats and have had no adverse reactions.

LGBTQ and straight-friendly.
Iron and ironing board available upon request.

Neighborhood highlights

I love the beautiful old historic homes in this Montford neighborhood. My house dates from circa 1910, termed a "Victorian cottage", and built by Richard Sharp Smith. Many of the homes in the neighborhood date from the 1880's. This Victorian neighborhood was the first suburb of Asheville. It is very quiet and friendly. Lots of beautiful walking opportunities around the neighborhood.
