Interaction with Guests
Now that we have received "SuperHost" status, we will do everything to keep that honor. I have a really easy-going manner and love to laugh and have fun! Lots of nice people moving through, but yet a very mellow place. You are free to come and go as you please and basically just feel at home. I will be happy to help you with whatever your needs are, and I have a supply of maps and brochures and suggestions to make the most of your visit. I do teach afternoon music lessons (flute/voice/ piano) Monday - Thursday.
I love the beautiful old historic homes in this Montford neighborhood. My house dates from circa 1912, termed a "Victorian cottage", and built by Richard Sharp Smith. Many of the homes in the neighborhood date from the 1880's. This Victorian neighborhood was the first suburb of Asheville. It is very quiet and friendly. Lots of beautiful walking opportunities around the neighborhood.
We are happy to do shuttles to and from airport and around town if needed for a small fee. The city bus stops near the house, but the house is so conveniently located that you will hardly need the public transportation.
Other Things to Note
Please park on the Elizabeth st side. Also, the day of your arrival, a general ETA is very much appreciated!
I have two small short-haired kitties, Sebastian and Sasha, real sweet and mellow. They stay outside most of the time and are never allowed in guest rooms for those who might be slightly allergic. I have had several guests stay who are allergic to cats and have had no adverse reactions.
LGBTQ and straight-friendly.
Hair dryer, iron and ironing board available upon request, outdoor hot tub, outdoor screen room, patio with pergola, outdoor fire pit, gas and charcoal grills, flower, herb and vegetable gardens.
Smoking outside only. No drugs, drinking ok if of age.
Jeff and Rita were fantastic hosts! The room was cozy, and Jeff was so welcoming when we arrived. Clean towels, delicious muffins and fresh coffee every morning were a few of my favorite perks! Rita was out of town during most of our visit, but I am so glad we were able to meet her before we left--she is the sweetest lady I had met in all of Asheville!
What an amazing visit! The Victorian Cottage was relaxing and the guests were stimulating. Jeff is a fascinating host who welcomed us warmly. Thank you for a rejuvenating stay!
Rita and Jeff were amazing hosts, so warm, welcoming and generous.
We arrived pretty late- after 10 pm after a long drive in the rain from Nashville. Rita sensed that we could use a little relaxation and suggested that we hang out on the porch and use the hot tub. What an absolute pleasure this experience was. The house is gorgeous and it was great to have some time to rest and relax and enjoy this little slice of heaven. I will definitely be back.
The place was everything as advertised. Clean room and beautiful house on a quiet street, but only 10 min walk downtown. Ideal place to for someone visiting. Rita was very friendly and helpful.
Really great last minute stay in Asheville. Rita was out of town, but Jeff met us when we arrived and was incredibly friendly and helpful. The place was clean, beautifully decorated and an easy walk in a great neighborhood.
My husband and I did not get to meet Rita, but she directed us to Jeff who was incredibly welcoming. He was able to meet us upon check-in and give us a tour of the beautiful home. It was easy to park on Elizabeth Street and the walk to downtown Asheville was a breeze. The Blue Room was large and very comfortable. We had no trouble accessing the shared bathroom. And the baked goods in the morning were delicious. I recommend staying here.
Jeff and Rita were kind and responsive. The room in comfortable, the home/outdoor space is very nice and the location is walking distance to downtown. Thumbs up! It was nice meeting you Jeff, thank you for your hospitality.
