About this listing
This house is totally made for the adventurous and the Mexican culture lovers. Located 10 minutes away from downtown and with incredible views and Mexican decorations, this place would make you feel instantly at home.
This is one of the views of the kitchen. On the back of the picture you can see the bar that divides the kitchen area with the living room area.
This place can fit up to 4 people. We have an amazing master room with a great dome and two full beds in it. As well, you have full access to the rooftop garden and all the accommodations a house can offer (shower, bathroom, kitchen, living/dining room, etc). The space offers interesting hosting possibilities especially for families and/or close friends (the master bedroom has to be shared and the living room has a futon sofa which can be used by an extra person or two). Just as a brief note, we are not a hotel, in fact we are recent graduates who love traveling and who want to make it affordable for people traveling to our city by staying at our place. Since we've just got it (the property) we are still working on improving it. It is a very beautiful colonial house, but of course, it's in the process of getting to an even better place. We appreciate and welcome any kind of guest. Don't forget to be respectful with our schedules and rules.
You have access to all of the unit. Please make yourselves feel at home.
Interaction with Guests
We try to keep the interaction with our guests as attentive as possible. However, since currently I'm living in Querétaro, México (1 hour away from SMA) my accessibility has to be more limited. Nonetheless, we have personnel working for us who clean the house and can help us solve any problem for our visitors at any given time. As such, if you're planning on visiting us, please consider the fact that in order to give you the keys of the place, I have to plan it with anticipation. Hence, it would be amazing if you guys could give us some 'heads-up' a few days before your arrival time, so we can plan things out smoothly.
This place is located exactly in front of mercado de San Juan de Dios (open food market) and ten minutes away from the downtown area. In which case, you are gonna be able to get fresh produces from the local producers and a refreshing walk to the hottest parts of the city.
There's decent public transit system. It's not the best in the world but most of the city is pretty walkable. If there's any need to get to farther distances you can always get around on a Taxi or on the bus. It's cheap and safe.
Other Things to Note
Sometimes people get confused on how to find the house. Sadly, this site's map application doesn't shows it correctly. To make it easier and clearer for all, we've posted some pics with the exact location of the property as well as instructions you can hand in to your Taxi driver or chauffeur. (The instructions are from the bus station to the house).
As descent as you would behave with your own beloved stuff.
The apartment was really nice and directly to the city and near by the busstation. You can walk both ways. Romeo was friendly and wait for us. He offert us, to the pik us up from the busstation, because the way to the apartment is very difficult. It was a really cool place, but never the less we have to admit that it was a bit dirty.
romeo was kind enough to go out of his way to locate us on the street because we had trouble finding the place. the photos are what attracted me to the place. i loved the huge windows in the bedroom. here is what i thought...
close to the beginning of town and to the walkway of the mercado de artesanias
lots of food choices and produce market right behind the building.
great old world charm. beautiful building
great price for our group
new towels in the bathroom
rooftop area to hang out on
parking in the mercado lot after hours was right around the corner.
lighting was beautiful from the huge windows in the bedroom. great for a photo backdrop
not enough plates and silverware for our family to use
knives were not sharp enough to cut thoroughly
not enough pans to cook a full meal
no dishsoap and half a jug of water to use for produce washing for the 3 days we were there
it wasn't as tidy as i expected it to be-a bit dusty. we are sensitive to dust and were sneezing constantly
needs updating-hot tub listed is not a hot tub. although the tiles in the bathtub/shower were nice
futon was broken
bedding didn't seem like it had been changed and house didn't seem as thoroughly clean as it could have been. litter and evidence of previous guests was visible.
the one room listed was one room with two full beds, so there is no privacy
rooftop fountain upstairs had stagnant water. my kids like to play in the fountains of san miguel and we were disappointed that it wasn't clean.
only one key
it i was in my 20s traveling with friends, it would have been perfect, but with two toddlers it wasn't quite the right match for us. host should charge a little more to update and have it thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis and it would be perfect for families with older kids or single travelers/backpackers.
thank you romeo for letting us stay in your home. good luck.
The location of the house was good - easy to walk all over San Miguel, with easy access to local and long-distance buses. The market behind the house was very handy for shopping and was not noisy at all.
The apartment is a short walk from both the bus station and the historic centre of town and is right by a pretty great mercado. It isn't in the most beautiful street but is so close to the fancier part of town that it makes little difference. The apartment's very spacious and pretty, and the roof terrace is a great bonus. The kitchen wasn't very well-equipped (no decent knives, one spoon, etc.) but otherwise everything was fine.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
About the Host, Romeo
My friends describe me as a very fun and interesting person. I was born in Querétaro, México. I am currently studying my last semester of International Relations and I am really happy about it. I enjoy reading, traveling, learning new languages, and taking on new adventures (especially if they include nature). Hope you find this useful, I really don't know what else to say.
