We visited with our 4 year old and much enjoyed our stay. Property was as described, very comfortable and in a convenient location.
Tara made sure that we got all the information we needed to find the condo and get settled in. Tara's local manager, who helped us via phone, was friendly, business like, and super-helpful. The location of the condo is terrific - a charming historic neighborhood in Atlanta's mid-town. Close to shopping, dining, attractions, the freeway - really, everything you need. The place itself is adorable - comfortable, completely well-appointed, even beautifully decorated. We had a great time, would recommend the condo to everyone, and will try to stay here again when we visit Atlanta.
The duplex was quiet and clean. The neighborhood is about a 10-15 minute walk to Piedmont Park. Nice accommodations!
Everything is perfect! I didn't expect it could be so convenient, the location, the laundry, the kitchen, it's more than I expect!
Tara's place is an a SUPER accessible location. We were able to walk anywhere we needed to go in the Midtown area. There's plenty of bars, restaurants, gay bars and shopping in the area. Piedmont park is just a few blocks away. A few things to note, there is a hill which others have noted and the beds (at least when we stayed) were very comfortable, but they are full size, a bit challenging for four adults. The two bathrooms worked well and the kitchen is fully equipped. The laundry was also convenient. The garden area with tables was great for breakfasts. We would stay here again during our next trip to Atlanta.
Our stay was outstanding! The location was ideal, and the neighborhood was beautiful. The property manager met us when we arrived and gave us the full lay of the land: linens, laundry, cable and kitchen set up. The house was immaculate and wildly comfortable and perfectly fit the needs we had, and exceeded them, for our stay in Atlanta. The beds were comfortable, the water was hot and the kitchen was perfect for cooking breakfast. The patio was a nice plus as well, either for a quiet cup of coffee in the AM or a cigar and bourbon in the evening. The price is well beyond worth it; the prices of hotels in the area are about the same cost, so why stay in a room where the sheets might not even be clean, when you can have an entire house to yourself in the quietest, cleanest neighborhood in Atlanta? Next time we visit, we will most assuredly stay at 805 Durant.
Thank you for the glowing response, Jennifer! It is so fabulous to have wonderful guests who love our space as much as we do. I appreciate your comments about paper towels and kitchen towels. They were stocked but apparently disappeared at some point and got missed. They have since been replaced. Come back any time!
I would have given 4 stars if not for all the problems with arrival & dealing with the property managers.
Arrival was very confusing at 805. We had 3 property managers trying to arrange our arrival and they changed the time on us several times. This led us to believe that the time was fairly flexible. When we did arrive in Atlanta we were informed by both the main property manager and the owner that we'd failed to show up on time and that a personal walkthrough was mandatory. They then tried to dictate to us what time the walkthrough would happen the next day. On our vacation. We ended up doing an over-the-phone walkthrough that really covered very little and was hardly necessary.
The place itself was acceptable: soap dispensers in both bathrooms were empty but there were little hotel soaps to use. Keurig was absolutely filthy so we avoided trying to use it. There was a pipe of sorts related to water pressure sticking out of the ceiling in the sitting area though we were assured it'll be fixed as soon as we were gone. Beds are full-size and a little cramped for 2. The AC/Thermostat battery died on us and we had to replace it with a battery from the remote for the TV (There we plenty of AAs in a bowl, but no AAAs). Showerhead was loose from the wall and not securely placed. Many towels (all white) had some sort of stain on them. A lot of the furniture was old and charming, but also a little intimidating to use in the event something broke. A ~200yr old chest is sitting in the narrow hallway upstairs. We were asked not to touch it. Couldn't tell you why it was there especially in a place that can be easily bumped into and damaged. Our bed was very creaky and looking below it, it seemed the frame might be in not the best condition. TVs in the bedrooms were tiny and poorly placed
Overall, considering the confusion and mess of arrival and being asked to work our schedule around theirs, we will not be staying here again. Tara and the others seemed friendly enough but not very accommodating and at times were even a bit rude.
We are 4 siblings -- and Sky Monkeys -- living in various corners of the world (airliners, tourism, US military). We keep this charming place in Midtown Atlanta as a safe haven and convenient meeting ground.
We appreciate being able to walk to MARTA; having an upscale neighborhood with friendly neighbors, old growth trees, Piedmont Park and convenient shopping nearby, plus easy access to all of downtown and to the Interstates and major thoroughfares.
We also appreciate having many friends in Atlanta and caretakers for the duplex.
