Our "room with splendid view" is ideal for single travellers who need to stay at a friendly and quiet place in the historic centre of Florence.
English, German, Italian, Spanish spoken.
The terrace is available by a personal invitation from the hosts.
We are surrounded by the lively atmosphere of a daily market where you can buy souvenirs, clothes, handbags, wallets and leather articles. In fact San Lorenzo is the leather district, and browsing around the stalls under the Medici chapels you might find some leather bags and jackets at terrific prices!
If you like food take a break at the mercato centrale. The Central Market, built in 1874 by Milan's architect Giuseppe Megoni, is a huge iron and glass structure that resembles the Halles in Paris and his other famous construction, the Gallery of Milan. It is the largest and perhaps the most typical of his kind in Florence; not only is it possible to buy flowers, vegetables, fruit, meat, cheeses and all kinds of typical gastronomic products but you can also eat a delicious lunch in one of its inside small restaurants. The upper floor has now food stalls that serve freshly prepared goodies. It is open every day from 10 am to midnight. Pizza, mozzarella, fresh bread and pastry, fried fish and vegetables, cured meet, cheeses, chocolate and gelato. You can wander among the stands and pick your preferred food to eat right there, and you will see how it’s prepared, at the minute! Drinks? Of course: cappuccino, wine, beer, smoothies and juices! To complement the offer: a Cooking school, a library and a wine tasting bar with sommelier.
The Medici chapels, located just at two blocks from our flat, is housing monuments to members of the Medici family, in the New Sacristy of the Church of San Lorenzo in Florence. The funereal monuments were commissioned in 1520 by Pope Clement VII (formerly Cardinal Giulio de’ Medici), executed largely by Michelangelo from the year 1520 to the year 1534, and completed by Michelangelo’s pupils after his departure.
You won't need public transportation to see all the major monuments. How convenient is that?
Other Things to Note
Since the dimensions of single beds vary considerably around the world, with most countries having their own standards and terminology, I should like to clarify the size of the single bed of our room in order to prevent any misunderstandings.
In Italy, the standard size of a single bed is: 80 cm wide by 190 cm long.
Our single bed is slightly longer than the standard size: 80 cm × 200 cm.
Accommodation does not include breakfast and use of the kitchen - but there are plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants in our neighborhood where you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack ...
No use of washing machine - but there are lots of laundromats nearby.
Curfew: we prefer that guests be home by 1 am.
If a guest looses the apartment keys, they will be asked to cover the cost of changing the locks and having new keys made.
The terrace is available by a personal invitation from the hosts.
Guests are asked to be mature, tidy and respectful.
Before booking, make sure that my house meets your needs, for instance:
- Do you have problems climbing the stairs?
As in almost all buildings in the historic centre there is NO elevator and you have to climb the stairs up to the 4 th floor.
- Are you a very light sleeper?
Being located right in the middle of Florence, there is obviously some street noise and you will not wake up listening to singing birds.
I can't imagine a better stay in Florence, than with Christina! The place was absolutely beautiful, in the heart of the city with everything you need and a beautiful. Most importantly, Christina made the whole experience in Florence so memorable. She was waiting on arrival, so friendly and welcoming. That evening she invited me for a (email hidden) and introduced me to great musician friends. The whole stay was wonderful and I give my highest recommendations.
I will definitely come to stay again!
My first airbnb very satisfaction. I stayed 4 days at her house very comfortable and lovely. S.M Novella station is very close and safety at night. I did not get to speak english well, But Cristina very kindly and told slowly. Cristina so very kindly and delightful. For many of her support was fun things to do on a trip to Florence. I would like to go back to Florence to stay here again.
Cristina is a wonderful host! She provided so much useful information about restaurants, museums and other places to visit in Florence.
The apartment is in a great location and is walkable to everything. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. The bedroom and bathroom are very clean and spacious. Only thing I would add is to provide a fan in the bedroom for the summer.
Cristina was a warm lovely woman who made me feel very welcome as if we had been friends for a lifetime! She helped me with getting train tickets for Rome. She also helped me get tickets for my trip to Pisa and Lucca, two beautiful places to visit. We also spent a lovely evening on the terrace enjoying a wonderful chat. I was so fortunate that she included me in an evening out with her friends. What a treat to have met some very interesting and talented people especially the lovely singing! Her place is so close to everything including the train station and the museums. Thank you so much Cristina for making my solo trip to Florence such a wonderful experience!
Cristina and Mike's apartment is centrally located to many key sights such as the Duomo and galleries as well as the train station. The spacious guest bedroom and bathroom are well appointed. Although quite noisy early morning/ late evening, the lively central market and surrounding stalls are literally outside the front door - convenient for food and other shopping.
Cristina welcomed me during my 3 night stay with cups of tea and a refreshing gin & tonic up on the roof terrace late evening where we chatted. The terrace has fabulous views and was a gorgeous place to sit outside on a balmy evening. Because it was so hot for my time in Firenze, Cristina was unable to take me on a more extensive walk to gardens which was understandable given the conditions. I was very independent, however, and made my own discoveries. Cristina did introduce me to some friends in a nearby bar for a local experience. All in all, a pleasant stay.
Florence is beautiful and Cristina's place is gorgeous, old school Florence and right in the heart of everywhere you could wish to wander. The central markets are right next door so you can get a coffee at 7 am!
Cristina is such a warm, helpful and beautiful person and I hope to keep in contact with her for years to come. She made so much effort to make me part of Florence for my short stay.
I stayed 5 days at her house very comfortable and nice. S.M Novella is very close and not at all dangerous at night ^^ I did not get to speak english well, so can not a lot of talk with her. But Cristina very friendly and told slowly. I would like to go back to Florence to stay here again.

About the Host, Cristina
Dreams of freedom and adventure were a vivid chapter of my childhood, and somehow still are. I love the horizon... so travelling became an activity in adult life.
For several years I was on the road with jazz musicians. Being a "roadie" manager was a great and unique experience not only for the sake of it but also for finding about people: I had to learn to be patient and to make my groups feel comfortable and happy while away from home. This experience was extremely useful later when I settled down in Florence and started accompanying tourists visiting Tuscany.
I think every single journey is worthwhile because we make it happens.
We all might have different targets but, as far as I know, everybody looks for a clean, quiet and friendly place for the night.
Love jazz, literature, cinema, animals, nature, bicycle riding. Sorry, I don't like soccer !
