Our "room with splendid view" is ideal for single travellers who need to stay at a friendly and quiet place in the historic centre of Florence.

The terrace is available by a personal invitation from the hosts.
We are surrounded by the lively atmosphere of a daily market where you can buy souvenirs, clothes, handbags, wallets and leather articles. In fact San Lorenzo is the leather district, and browsing around the stalls under the Medici chapels you might find some leather bags and jackets at terrific prices!
If you like food take a break at the mercato centrale. The Central Market, built in 1874 by Milan's architect Giuseppe Megoni, is a huge iron and glass structure that resembles the Halles in Paris and his other famous construction, the Gallery of Milan. It is the largest and perhaps the most typical of his kind in Florence; not only is it possible to buy flowers, vegetables, fruit, meat, cheeses and all kinds of typical gastronomic products but you can also eat a delicious lunch in one of its inside small restaurants. The upper floor has now food stalls that serve freshly prepared goodies. It is open every day from 10 am to midnight. Pizza, mozzarella, fresh bread and pastry, fried fish and vegetables, cured meet, cheeses, chocolate and gelato. You can wander among the stands and pick your preferred food to eat right there, and you will see how it’s prepared, at the minute! Drinks? Of course: cappuccino, wine, beer, smoothies and juices! To complement the offer: a Cooking school, a library and a wine tasting bar with sommelier.
The Medici chapels, located just at two blocks from our flat, is housing monuments to members of the Medici family, in the New Sacristy of the Church of San Lorenzo in Florence. The funereal monuments were commissioned in 1520 by Pope Clement VII (formerly Cardinal Giulio de’ Medici), executed largely by Michelangelo from the year 1520 to the year 1534, and completed by Michelangelo’s pupils after his departure.
You won't need public transportation to see all the major monuments. How convenient is that?
Other Things to Note
Since the dimensions of single beds vary considerably around the world, with most countries having their own standards and terminology, I should like to clarify the size of the single bed of our room in order to prevent any misunderstandings.
In Italy, the standard size of a single bed is: 80 cm wide by 190 cm long.
Our single bed is slightly longer than the standard size: 80 cm × 200 cm.
Accommodation does not include breakfast and use of the kitchen - but there are plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants in our neighborhood where you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack ...
No use of washing machine - but there are lots of laundromats nearby.
Curfew: we prefer that guests be home by 1 am.
If a guest looses the apartment keys, they will be asked to cover the cost of changing the locks and having new keys made.
The terrace is available by a personal invitation from the hosts.
Guests are asked to be mature, tidy and respectful.
Before booking, make sure that my house meets your needs, for instance:
- Do you have problems climbing the stairs?
As in almost all buildings in the historic centre there is NO elevator and you have to climb the stairs up to the 4 th floor.
- Are you a very light sleeper?
Being located right in the middle of Florence, there is obviously some street noise and you will not wake up listening to singing birds.
Very nice location to start with exploring the beautiful city. Love the place and very kind of Cristina giving me info on Pisa and Lucca. Will stay there again if going Florence again.
Lovely room, bright and clean and well appointed. Cristina is a thoughtful and caring host, who provided everything needed, from bath slippers to bottle of water to a spare umbrella. She gave excellent suggestions and directions for restaurants, events, and excursions (such as to Fiesole) and even gave me wonderful suggestions for when I went to Rome. Absolutely my best Air BnB experience. Gracie mille, Cristina!
Cristina is very kind person. Her house is located middle of central. She always keeps clean her house. She always tried to help me when ever I had a plan to go somewhere.
I had great time in her house.
I miss her and her cats.
Cristina is a lovely person and greeted me when I arrived at the apartment with a very welcome (and very good) gin and tonic.
Communication was good and she was at pains to help me find the place (very easy from Santa Maria Novella station and less than a five minute walk.
The apartment is spotless and the room very nice. There is a private bathroom that is very clean.
The area is very lively, with the market directly below the 4th floor apartment. After the market finishes (and it is daily) road cleaners come in. I'm a good sleeper and this wasn't a problem for me but if you struggle with noise this might not be the place for you. Cristina kindly offered earplugs but I didn't need them.
You really are in the historic center of Florence here; it was only about a six minute walk to the Duomo. I have visited Florence before and it was wonderful to return. The crowds around the historic areas and buildings are not for the faint hearted. That said it is very easy to simply slip into back streets and walk between the main sites without feeling oppressed by the many tourists. Cristina was helpful in sending me a link allowing me to book Uffizi tickets via the official site so I did not have to queue.
Cristina is respectful of your privacy. Personally I enjoyed having someone to talk to who knew the city. She told me about visiting San Miniato al Monte on the hill, and the right time to visit to hear the monks chant. It was a magical experience.
I think Cristina would have spent more time with me but she was feeling under the weather. She told me I have a friend and contact in Florence always which is a lovely thing to know. On my last morning she very kindly made me a lovely breakfast before I went to catch my train to Venice. In the evenings she gave me a glass of red wine to wind down after a hectic day.
Overall I recommend staying with Cristina highly.
Oh ahd finally the apartment is literally a 30 second walk from the wonderful Mercato Centrale, a covered market with multiple outlets to buy and eat Italian 'street food' and the wonderful Tuscan wine. I ate their twice and it was fantastic. It is open until midnight. Everything is fresh and delicious, reasonably priced.
If you don't mind bustle and some noise, don't hesitate to book Cristina's place. I will definitely return if I travel to Florence again on my own. It's one of the most beautiful cities on earth and the experience of staying here makes you feel you are having an authentic experience of the city.
Thanks Cristina and apologies again for spilling wine on the bedclothes!!!
I had a very pleasant stay at Cristina's, which I can only highly recommend. Besides the loveliness of the apartment, Cristina's advice to places to dine and to visit made my stay in Florence truly wonderful.
Cristina was a wonderful host. I was traveling by myself for the first time and she made the experience very smooth by providing a clean, well managed room and private bathroom for me. She even tidied my room for me during the middle of my visit - a nice treat to come back to after a long day of sightseeing. While I had a set itinerary, Cristina was also very kind to give me a basic introduction to Florence and suggest sites of interest to visit. Overall, I would highly recommend this host!
I have a wonderful and relaxing stay in Cristina's house! The place was very clean, tidy, and comfortable! I Love the big window in the room so so much! I enjoy look out of the window, and see the layers of red roof and the white smoke from chimney every morning!! and after a long day travel I can have a really relaxing moment in the private bath room which have a bathtub!! a big bathtub!! The bed was very soft and the sheet smell fresh and dry, i have a very good sleep every night! location is absolutely convenience, just 5mins walk from the Firenze S.M.N. and the house is just in the heart of Firenze. surrounding have supermarket, many cafe and bars. I have no worries to find a place to eat! and Cristina was also advise me many place to visit and to eat which only local knows!! Dreams of freedom and adventure were a vivid chapter of my childhood, and somehow still are. I love the horizon... so travelling became an activity in adult life.
For several years I was on the road with jazz musicians. Being a "roadie" manager was a great and unique experience not only for the sake of it but also for finding about people: I had to learn to be patient and to make my groups feel comfortable and happy while away from home. This experience was extremely useful later when I settled down in Florence and started accompanying tourists visiting Tuscany.
I think every single journey is worthwhile because we make it happens.
We all might have different targets but, as far as I know, everybody looks for a clean, quiet and friendly place for the night.
Love jazz, literature, cinema, animals, nature, bicycle riding. Sorry, I don't like soccer !
