Our "room with splendid view" is ideal for single travellers who need to stay at a friendly and quiet place in the historic centre of Florence.
We are a couple with a cat.
English, German, Italian, Spanish spoken.
The terrace is available by a personal invitation from the hosts.
We are surrounded by the lively atmosphere of a daily market where you can buy souvenirs, clothes, handbags, wallets and leather articles. In fact San Lorenzo is the leather district, and browsing around the stalls under the Medici chapels you might find some leather bags and jackets at terrific prices!
If you like food take a break at the mercato centrale. The Central Market, built in 1874 by Milan's architect Giuseppe Megoni, is a huge iron and glass structure that resembles the Halles in Paris and his other famous construction, the Gallery of Milan. It is the largest and perhaps the most typical of his kind in Florence; not only is it possible to buy flowers, vegetables, fruit, meat, cheeses and all kinds of typical gastronomic products but you can also eat a delicious lunch in one of its inside small restaurants. The upper floor has now food stalls that serve freshly prepared goodies. It is open every day from 10 am to midnight. Pizza, mozzarella, fresh bread and pastry, fried fish and vegetables, cured meet, cheeses, chocolate and gelato. You can wander among the stands and pick your preferred food to eat right there, and you will see how it’s prepared, at the minute! Drinks? Of course: cappuccino, wine, beer, smoothies and juices! To complement the offer: a Cooking school, a library and a wine tasting bar with sommelier.
The Medici chapels, located just at two blocks from our flat, is housing monuments to members of the Medici family, in the New Sacristy of the Church of San Lorenzo in Florence. The funereal monuments were commissioned in 1520 by Pope Clement VII (formerly Cardinal Giulio de’ Medici), executed largely by Michelangelo from the year 1520 to the year 1534, and completed by Michelangelo’s pupils after his departure.
You won't need public transportation to see all the major monuments. How convenient is that?
Other Things to Note
Since the dimensions of single beds vary considerably around the world, with most countries having their own standards and terminology, I should like to clarify the size of the single bed of our room in order to prevent any misunderstandings.
In Italy, the standard size of a single bed is: 80 cm wide by 190 cm long.
Our single bed is slightly longer than the standard size: 80 cm × 200 cm.
Accommodation does not include breakfast and use of the kitchen - but there are plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants in our neighborhood where you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack ...
No use of washing machine - but there are lots of laundromats nearby.
Curfew: we prefer that guests be home by 1 am.
If a guest looses the apartment keys, they will be asked to cover the cost of changing the locks and having new keys made.
The terrace is available by a personal invitation from the hosts.
Guests are asked to be mature, tidy and respectful.
Before booking, make sure that my house meets your needs, for instance:
- Do you have problems climbing the stairs?
As in almost all buildings in the historic centre there is NO elevator and you have to climb the stairs up to the 4 th floor.
- Are you a very light sleeper?
Being located right in the middle of Florence, there is obviously some street noise and you will not wake up listening to singing birds.
- Are you allergic to cats?
We have a cat.
Cristina was a wonderful host. I was traveling by myself for the first time and she made the experience very smooth by providing a clean, well managed room and private bathroom for me. She even tidied my room for me during the middle of my visit - a nice treat to come back to after a long day of sightseeing. While I had a set itinerary, Cristina was also very kind to give me a basic introduction to Florence and suggest sites of interest to visit. Overall, I would highly recommend this host!
I have a wonderful and relaxing stay in Cristina's house! The place was very clean, tidy, and comfortable! I Love the big window in the room so so much! I enjoy look out of the window, and see the layers of red roof and the white smoke from chimney every morning!! and after a long day travel I can have a really relaxing moment in the private bath room which have a bathtub!! a big bathtub!! The bed was very soft and the sheet smell fresh and dry, i have a very good sleep every night! location is absolutely convenience, just 5mins walk from the Firenze S.M.N. and the house is just in the heart of Firenze. surrounding have supermarket, many cafe and bars. I will miss you Cristina~ and I should highly recommend this house for every traveller which visit Firenze!!
It was the best airbnb experience in my whole Italian getaway. I was welcomed with a glass of wine and invited to the balcony upstairs. Cristina hospitality was A+++ she recommended few restaurants and places to visit. I had a busy schedule but went to few places and fell in love with the city. Cristina even went with me on the last day to a local wine shop to help me choose wines as gifts. I had the best time in Florence thanks to Cristina. She even recommended restaurant in Rome which was my next destination. Place is located close to a market so it can be noisy in the morning but I didnt mind it. Its very close to the train station and close to Duomo. Thank you for lovely stay and hope to stay in touch!
Cristina is really friendly. She makes me feel comfortable and warm. Her house is clean. must read the rules carefully before reserve. For example we cannot use her kitchen. Everything was good especially the long and huge window, also the location of the room. You can feel the town. Recommand you to stay long.
very convenient place, walk distance to train station and almost all the hot spots of the town. room is very clean and comfortable and also Cristina is very helpful. it's on top floor and no lift, if you have too many lugguages you have to be strong enough :)
The location is excellent, near Basilica di San Lorenzo. The room was clean and sufficient with view to the south-west of Florence.
Christina is very helpful in case of needs.
My suggestions for international travelers eating out in Florence is:
- EATALY at Via dei Martelli
- Mangia Pizza Firenze (for a ciabatta) at Via Lambertesca
Both modern with local food at local prices, WIFI, but not too intimate
Muy buena primera experiencia con air bnb! Cristina me ayudó mucho y me hizo sentir muy cómoda. Super céntrico a todo lo importante para visitar y al costado está el mercado donde se pueden tomar unos desayunos muy ricos. Gracias Cristina!

Dreams of freedom and adventure were a vivid chapter of my childhood, and somehow still are. I love the horizon... so travelling became an activity in adult life.
For several years I was on the road with jazz musicians. Being a "roadie" manager was a great and unique experience not only for the sake of it but also for finding about people: I had to learn to be patient and to make my groups feel comfortable and happy while away from home. This experience was extremely useful later when I settled down in Florence and started accompanying tourists visiting Tuscany.
I think every single journey is worthwhile because we make it happens.
We all might have different targets but, as far as I know, everybody looks for a clean, quiet and friendly place for the night.
Love jazz, literature, cinema, animals, nature, bicycle riding. Sorry, I don't like soccer !
