A traditional area of York ,a short walk from the city centre. The area is very local and has not been changed much since these houses were (website hidden) is peaceful and quiet. there are a few outlying villages only a short walk where they have a fantastic gastro pub.The nearby village green has two excellent pubs also ,which do food and fine Sunday lunches. Also a very authentic reasonable fish and chip shop nearby Possibly the best fish and chips you will taste!!!You will have to try.On the high street is a Thomas Cafe, the only one of the local Yorkshire Bakers,it is fine for sandwiches cakes breakfast,it produce has won many awards
Good transport infrastructure No1 5 11 buses are a6 min journey to City centre, and its weekend bustle. The walk is about 20 mins and takes you past parks and pubs one way,and down by the river or through Bootham the other

A wonderful place to stay in York. Claire welcomed me on behalf of Carol when I arrived and was very lovely and helpful. Will definitely stay again if I am ever in York! The house was also very conveniently placed to get to the city center.
Carol lives in a quiet residential neighbourhood in the village of Acomb.
Buses into York City centre are every couple of minutes and the journey takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
The area felt very safe and pleasant at night.
My wife and I like this experience in Carols house .Carol was away during our stay , but her friend Claire and her husband gave us a nice welcome . Claire helped us settle in very smoothly , provided many tips even guided the tour to nearby bus station from where we could take No. 1 bus to city center easily . In next 2 days , Claire also helped a lot via mobile text. The house is quiet and comfortable . We were given a house key and allowed to go out or back anytime we liked . We also enjoyed delicious breakfast in Carols house ! We would like to thank Carol and Claire for the house and all of helps , you made our York tour perfect !
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay! We had a really nice time in the house, and although unfortunately we didn't get to meet Carol, Claire her friend was really friendly and welcoming, and gave us lots of good local tips. The house was clean and breakfast was good plentiful. Only a very short bus ride away from the centre and in a nice area. I would highly recommend!
Carol was away, so I did not get a chance to meet her. But her friend Claire made me feel quite welcome; she got me settled in, showed me around the house, and then even gave me a tour of the neighborhood so that I knew which way was which. I very much enjoyed meeting her husband, too.
I loved this house; the room is indeed large and very comfortable. The house is filled with books (which, as an editor, made me feel right at home) and souvenirs of travels and art exhibitions and shows; I was sorry not to meet Carol herself.
I would be glad to stay here again when next I pass through York, which I'll certainly do again.
Clarie is nice, the room is clean. But the kitchen is ...and I can find any clean cup in the (website hidden) is far from the city center. Almost 30 minutes by bus. All in all, fair enough for this price. Thank you!
I'm glad you liked the room and sorry I didn't get chance to meet you. Claire had left some cups for you in front of the kettle so you didn't have to look for them. You could of rang Claire, if you had any problems as she would not of minded. Sorry about the buses, they are normally quite quick about 10mins into the centre 15mins at busy times, but I think they may have been road works on the bus route at the time of your stay.
Warm Regards Carol
