Other Things to Note
* SAIGON - YOU WILL NEVER GET BORED:
I have been grown up and living here for more than 25 years, I‘ve been in a few countries but Saigon is always the place I want to be most, a place to return, a place to live and enjoy a real interesting life. Saigon never stops surprising me when I thought I know my city so well but oops there is always something new await for me everyday. I have just found out a great “Bún Thịt Nướng” (grill pork noodle) street food hidden right behind of a very famous Coffee shop on Dong Khoi Street, it has been always there for 10 years and I have just known it. Or a place on the top of a very big and nice shopping mall in central dist 1 but serve a set lunch only 50,000 VND (2 dollars) for a full set of Vietnamese lunch meal.
So believe me, you will love Saigon once you have sometime to spend here. People are nice and friendly, streets full of motorbikes and noises but full of energy and joy. I live at my house for all of my life, we have just been rebuilt the house for 5 years, so the house is new but the people and the location is still the same. There is so much things happen in the area that you will find it amazing to discover everyday and of course if you stay here, I would like to show you some of my favorite places of Saigon. A 10 years old nice smoothies and juice stand, a great and authentic Pho restaurant has just opened by a northern guy, a nice rooftop bar just next to Ben Thanh market, a day and night market with so much interesting things to buy for your souvenirs, a pizza restaurant owned by a Japanese which is so tasty and I guarantee you will be fall in love to their pizzas once you try them, etc.
I feel very lucky to be born, grow up and live at my current house now, not only because it has amazing location, but also it's like a connection between me and this city. It's located in an alley which is so center and quite, the fact that it is away from noisy pack back area is the most appealing with so many visitors but if you want to walk to the pack back street, it takes you only 5 minutes to walk there, you will see a very different living style there. From my house, you can easily to discover many different areas of Saigon, you can take motorbike, taxi or bus to everywhere and if you don't know your plan yet, I would like to give you some suggestion from a perspective of a Vietnamese who lived and grown up here. There are so many places which are not listed in your guide book but only a local can show you.
Last but not least, myself and my family are very friendly and hospitable people. We have welcomed so many guests overseas and I am sure that you will find a very nice, comfy and warm stay at my place !
- Be quiet after 11pm
- No smoking inside the house
- No prostitution

Vania made my stay very memorable.. from taking me out to logan ice cream on the back of her scooter to introducing me to her friend Van who very kindly gave me a free tour of HCMC. It was especially nice to eat at the sides of the street on little chairs and tables like a local! The room was great, absolutely nothing to complain about - spacious, toiletries, water and wifi will provided. I got Vietnamese coffee and a coffee filter from her family when I left, such hospitality! I wish her all the best in her future endeavors!
Vania is a very friendly young lady. She showed me some grocery stores on the evening that I arrived so that I could buy my breakfast for the next day. Originally, I wanted to stay for six nights, but I left after the first night because I did not get any sleep due to two construction sites next to the house where the works also continue during the night. For this reason I unfortunately also could not follow Vanias very kind invitation to accompany her on a trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels. It is a really nice place to stay when the constructions will be finished maybe in a couple of month.
When I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City I bought a SIM card and called Vania, who had alerted her family I was on my way. The taxi driver found the location, and I was taken upstairs to a clean lovely king size bedroom suite with a private Chinese style bathroom, a small refrigerator, electric hot plate, couch and desk. The apartment is around the corner from the Fine Arts Museum and one avenue away from the large tourist market. It is basically in the centre of everything. There is even the Western California Gym fitness chain a large block away, and for me that was a huge and totally unexpected plus.
Vania and I shared similar interests and we spent one day going to see the Vietnamese Creative Festival, which I might not have seen on my own. I found her a curious, charming and engaging young woman. At one point I had a problem with a taxi driver and was able to phone her from the cab so she could negotiate a compromise, and she also helped me find a reputable place to fill an eyeglass prescription. Her entire family is lovely and its wonderful that they are running this small business in their home, which has, wonder of wonders, a working elevator inside!
Ho Chi Minh City is expanding rapidly, and there is rampant, incessant building construction going on, especially in District 1, which is where this conveniently located apartment sits. The construction often runs throughout the night, which is part of the culture. If you want to stay in a convenient location be aware that you will most likely experience this in one way or another, and be prepared to bring earplugs. On the other hand you will be able to walk to almost any destination you are interested in, instead of enduring endless taxi rides and sometimes unscrupulous drivers.
The house was so close to the center of Ho Chi Ming city. Also, the room was large enough for one person and clean. The family was very friendly and helpful. Good to get a chance to learn about local's life.
I can't say enough about Vania, her beautiful family and homestay. They spoiled me upon arrival and I feel very lucky to have become part of the family, all while enjoying a taste of the local perspective. You will not find a cleaner, safer or better location in Ho Chi Minh and you will not meet a nicer family!!!!
The location is great, in the centre of everything. Apartment was clean and actually quite huge with everything you can possibly need for even longer stay. Vania was a great host, giving tips about going about and seeing things.
Great stay with Vania (Wan I believe in Vietnamese) and her family. The place is so super central you can't get any better. I stayed the 1st night at the hotel which ended up being 14 km away from center city (booked through (website hidden), never again) so the ability to walk outside and be next to central bus station and walking distance to all major attractions was just superb.
The room was HUGE, had all the necessities. The apartment has its own lift (elevator), which makes your stay very private, hotel like. There was a fridge in the room and a big tank of fresh water to drink with a hot pot that you can use. Good bed, tower, toiletries provided. I even had dinner with the family one night, which was a good experience and very gracious of them to offer. The price is super reasonable.
I highly recommend this place to any who who is staying in Saigon. Room is definitely big enough for 2 people, even a baby could fit if an extra bed is provided. Very good experience.

Last but not least, i'm a nice host, you can check it true or not when you rent my house. I love to give a "friend" tour to my guests (if guests love that), but it depends on my time, sometimes i'm very very busy and you will not see my face. For sure if i have time, will help you go around and know more about my city.
Hm think i write too much about myself, it's time for me to stop.
