Excellent option for those on a budget, but want a high quality place to stay. My home offers a comfortable bedroom with large bathroom, and a very peaceful backyard to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Come and experience Austin!

The Space

Want to visit Austin, but not pay hotels rates? This might be an option for you! My 3rd bedroom is furnished with a full sized mattress (clean linens provided) and a full sized leather couch. This is an affordable option to see Austin, but without all the extras. The room has a closet, but no dressers and no TV. The bath would be semi-private to shared depending on the time of your visit. Large fenced-in backyard with beautiful deck, fish pond, and a lot of greenspace (yard backs up to Onion Creek). Outdoor grill available.

I offer wireless internet and my home is less than 2 miles from I-35 and less than 10 miles from downtown. I am also about 7.5 miles from FORMULA ONE Racetrack.

I have 2 medium sized dog (Scout and Sabrina), one slightly larger dog (Roxanne) and one orange tabby cat (Tiggs).

If you are looking for more amenities, I also have a fully furnished bedroom available through airbnb for a bit more per night.

Come see Austin!

Guest Access

Guests can access and enjoy the entire home and open backyard space. Driveway Parking too!

Interaction with Guests

I love to interact with guests, but equally respect their need for downtime and privacy.

The Neighborhood

Quiet diverse neighborhood that is filled with friendly people.

Getting around

Public Transportation in South Austin is not the best. Having a car is easiest unless you are an avid bicyclist. There is an easy way to get downtown from my house, but it is a good 8 mile ride. Bike rentals are available.

  • Tammy is a terrific host, and her place has the amenities of a boutique hotel that would cost a LOT more. She has a big backyard and two super-friendly dogs also.

Tammy responded to every one of my questions within minutes.

The room I stayed in has a full-sized couch in addition to the bed. There's even a lending library! Downtown is just a short drive away -- this would be a great spot for anyone coming to town for Formula 1 or Austin City Limits or SXSW. This will be my #1 choice every time I am in Austin.

  • We had a fantastic time staying with Tammy. The photos were all right on point. Her place is in such a wonderfully peaceful setting and the backyard is roomy with great seating areas. Her dogs are friendly and quiet. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom spacious and had lots of toiletries in case we ran out.
Tammy is so genuine, amiable, and just in general a cool person to talk to. We were lucky enough to get the chance to have breakfast with her.

  • Staying with Tammy was great. She was laid back about our delayed arrival. Her home was immaculately neat and clean, and very comfortable. Her pets were very sweet and friendly. I forgot to bring dress shoes with me, and I was able to find a pair in seconds at the yard sale she held on the first morning (I usually have a really hard time finding shoes)! I had never even heard of a house concert before, so it was really neat to experience that for the first time. Definitely recommended.

  • Tammy provided an easy and enjoyable stay while I was traveling through Austin. I immediately felt comfortable, safe, and welcomed by Tammy. I was traveling solo and had never booked a place on Airbnb, so admittedly, I was a little nervous, but Tammy made me feel at ease and safe and sound. Tammy's place was lovely and charming, not to mention that I slept like a rock in the bed provided. The bathroom provided was also amazing and there's nothing like a good shower after a long day of driving! Tammy is passionate about Austin and has a wealth of knowledge about the city. She was a great resource for finding things to do. I had one request while in Austin: to find a place to two-step or line dance (newly found hobby), and she had a suggestion of a great place that the locals go to! I would recommend Tammy to all of my friends and family. I had a wonderful and memorable stay at Tammy's!

  • Tammy was flexible with allowing me to arrive late in the evening (which we pre-arranged), provided a clean, comfy, and roomy bedroom and bathroom, and was very helpful with directions. I regret that my stay was very brief, because she has a lovely back yard that would be a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the surroundings or read a book. Would definitely stay again if the opportunity presents.

  • Staying with Tammy and her three wonderful dogs was such a delight! Her home is very charming, and so is her outdoor decor. Even though it was for just one night, Tammy gave us invaluable information that ultimately helped map out our 2 week road trip across the Wild West. She also gave us great recommendations on where to go in Austin. Our room was very clean and comfortable, and the private bathroom was large and very accommodating. We would definitely stay again!

  • PHE. NOM. E. NAL. Can not rate this place highly enough. I almost don't want to tell folks how great this place is so I can make sure it's never booked up, but Tammy was so wonderful that I just want to make sure everyone knows this is THE place to stay in Austin.

This was one of the best Airbnb experiences you could hope to have. Tammy is a delight and runs her place like the best B&B ever. Pristine restroom, fresh towels and bedsheets - she even has a backyard water fountain to make the backyard porch even more relaxing. Plus, three of the nicest dogs you could ever hope to meet.

Great location - about 8 miles from 6th Street, which made it a nice oasis from the SXSW madness but close enough that there was no hassle. Tammy even had a list of must-see locations around town, which was a great local's p.o.v. on what not to miss in the city - helped me find some great places to eat!

  • tammy was a super-accommodating, thoughtful, and organized host! her house is beautiful and very clean. her backyard is gorgeous and relaxing - just wish i had more time to spend there! my room was right by the fountain, so i recommend opening your window for some fresh air at nite and letting the sound of the water lull you to sleep.
tammy made great breakfasts for us - homemade banana muffins, quiches - and also had yogurt and other snacks on hand.
since she is far from downtown, it's probably best to have a car if you stay in this area - but tammy was very willing to drive me downtown, etc.
the house is in a gated community and felt very safe. it's a quiet neighborhood.
i would definitely stay with tammy again - she and her animals are great!

    Response from Tammy:

Thanks for your review.... I don't think of 8 miles as far from downtown, but you are right that a car is preferred if you stay at my home and I think the listing states that, but I will double check! Hope you are enjoying Mexico!

ATX Kids Club
I am the owner and founder of a non-profit organization called ATX Kids Club (search-able by that name) that offers educational clubs, summer camps, and Saturday classes to elementary aged students. I have previously been an Assistant Principal and Elementary School Teacher for K-5th Grade. In my free time, I love to be outdoors. I have 2 dogs (Scout and Roxanne) and an Orange Tabby cat (Tiggs). I love to landscape and garden, host monthly house concerts (music schedule can be found if you search for my site hummingbirdconcerts) in my backyard and enjoy time with friends as well as peaceful times alone. Austin has become my home after spending most of my years in the North-eastern part of the US (PA/MD). I have been here for about 6 years and can't imagine living anywhere else. People ask why Austin, and other than the warm temperatures that I prefer, it's the people here. Austin is a small city filled with people from other places. It creates a city that is filled with people that live here intentionally and love being here. So, I believe the outcome of this, is a city filled with happy people. There is so much to do here always but it's not too big that you feel overwhelmed by it being a city. You can participate or not, but having the option so close is very nice. Austin is becoming a huge hotspot for tourism and people relocating. Our economy is doing well and our Real Estate is reasonably affordable. I hope you consider taking a trip to this wonderful city!
