The Space

See NAPLES and don't die!
Wide rooms with balcony on the Royal Botanical Gardens, own bathroom, continental breakfast, secret garden, tips and tricks to fully enjoy a peculiar city. In the centre of Naples.
More than a bed and breakfast, a cordial welcome too.
If you love gardens and tranquillity, but for any reason you visit Naples ... this is the place to be!
In the front of the house you find the throbbing of city life, with typical restaurants, shops, bars and pizza restaurants. In the back you find birds singing, tranquillity and relax in a eighteenth century private garden closed by walls and surrounded by other gardens.
In a typical 18th century building, on the first floor, we have three rooms with their own bathroom; on the mezzanine floor you find our breakfast area with access to our secret garden.

Central railway station, metro, museums, ancient roman decumans, and Neapolitan marvels are only few minutes away walking. Besides, bus stop is in front of our building.
Our concept of hospitality is to let you feel in a family, at home; but, if you prefer so, your privacy will be respected.
Our main goal is to make your staying the cosiest possible. We know our city and its usages and customs; we will be happy to assist you in enjoying Naples at its best.
We currently speak English (as well as French and Dutch) and we love cultural contacts.

  • We felt instantly welcomed. Our family of four had a lovely stay in one of Mario and Anna's lovely rooms. The photocopied map they provided was most helpful and the breakfast in the garden was a great way to start the day. They also have lots of reference books and tourist information pamphlets about the sights of Naples. They accommodated our need for an early breakfast on a tour day. The train terminal is a bit of walk but easily managed by our 9 and 12 year olds. There are restaurants and little shops on the same street. There is a basic kitchen area and we prepared a simple meal of our own one night. We had a small fridge in our room to keep snacks in. This is a great base for planning a trip to Pompeii or Herculaneum. It is not as glamorous as Rome but we are so glad we did not leave Naples off the itinerary. Follow the common sense rules for personal safety and you'll have a great time. We did.

  • We thank veru much our charming hosts Anna and Mario for the kind attention all along our stay in Naples. Our room , large and well protected against the noises of the city, was very confortable and it was a pleasure to get breakfast in the middle of their wonderful and secret garden with nice trees and flowers which they have arranged with love behind their appartement. We were very near of the historical center of the city and our only regrets were not to be able to stay longer in such a nice place. Tahnk you Anna and Mario !

  • Mario, Anna and their adult son, Edgar were lovely hosts. My husband, 2 daughters and I all agree that this was the most pleasant stay we experienced in Italy. We were weary after a month of travel and needed to just feel comfortable and taken care of. Thank you Uggiano family! We wished we had stayed here first and for a few weeks. I had lived in the Naples area 30 years prior for two years as a kid and had wonderful memories of everything, especially the people and the food. My family was not disappointed by my Napoli. We will be back and we will be telling everyone about the location, the accomodations, the advice and the fun time in the garden eating La Prima Colazione! I ran to the store and bought some Kimbo to take home! Edgar, I do believe you about the water! Our water in Seattle is NOT the same. Many, many thank you's from our family!

  • Anna and Mario are wonderful hosts! They created a lovely place for a stay in Naples...the rooms are very cosy and the breakfast in the beautiful garden is great. I can really recommend a stay in the secred garden, where you can experience the warmth of Anna and Mario.

  • Mario and Anna were so sweet and the secret garden is a very unique place to stay! The room was huge and charming. The bathroom was not attached to the room, but it was private and very close by. The room and the bathroom were cleaned every day.

Breakfast was simple but good. And the backyard was really something special for Naples. The property is giant and there are so many wonderful places to sit and relax. Wifi was great and had a strong signal throughout most of the property.

The location is not in the middle of the old city, but everything is between a 10 and 20 minute walk away. After eating pizza, sfogliatelle, and arancini every day, it feels good to walk a little! The walk from Napoli Centrale was a little too far with luggage, but the cab to the port on our way out was only about 8 euros.

Thanks Mario and Anna for a great stay!!

  • Staying at Il Gardino Segreto was great. The location opposite the botanical gardens was perfect. You can walk into Naples very easily.

The BB is beautiful and quirky. What makes it is the garden which you need in Naples as it is hot there, but the bedrooms are tastefully decorated and roomy. There is a kitchen in the garden and we were able to cook and eat Al Fresco.

Also within a couple of minutes of the BB there are great restaurants where we ate some of the best food I have ever tasted at incredible prices.

I would urge anyone going to southern Italy to visit Naples as it is fast, crazy and incredibly cheap.

Mario was really helpful answering all of our questions about Naples and beyond.

Thanks for a great stay Mario you were right there are no rules in Naples but that is what makes it such a great city!

  • Naples was a highlight of our trip. The city is unlike any other we visited in Italy . The pace frenetic, the pizzas wonderful and close to some of the greatest historical sites in Europe. Once located behind the doors of the chaotic city streets Mario and Anna's B&B was a friendly and safe place to retreat and recharge the batteries. Mario and Anna are friendly and helpful and Anna provides a cheery breakfast where you meet travellers from across the world in the beautiful garden. Our 19 and 14 year old boys had room on their own and felt comfortable and safe. Our room was spacious with comfortable bed and balcony.

Go to Naples, take a cab ride, see the football, Pompeii and the wonderful surrounds and stay with Mario and Anna.
