We enjoyed staying with Veronique and her son very much. Their house was lovely, the location was great (close to a park and good restaurants), and the hosts were nice and helpful.
This is a cozy room in a lovely neighborhood. Veronique is a warm and welcoming host, and she has made a list of nearby attractions (try the patisserie she suggests - it's out of this world). I appreciate that she makes her expectations (posted in the listing, copy in the house) clear. She was also very responsive to messages, which made making arrangements easy.
From our first contact by email and throughout my stay, Veronique was friendly, helpful, responsible and accommodating. I found her flat charming and accurately represented. Her young son was a delight. And her neighborhood and city were wonderful.
Monique was a great host. She was present and of assistance when needed, but mindful of my space and never intrusive. She provided great information on neighborhood restaurants, delis and other venues (I repeatedly visited Mr. Pinchot's, a great patisserie, and regret not taking Monique's advice to have dinner at Chez Victoire). She graciously accommodated my monolingualism, never leaving me uncomfortable for being unable to speak Quebec's native tongue. (I must confess, I was wowed by the apparent effortless bilingualism of Monique and so many other young Montrealers... if only we in the U.S. were as multilingual in Spanish, French or....)
Monique's accommodations met my expectations. While basic, the room provided all that I needed. The IKEA couch/sleeper was surprisingly comfortable and supportive (which is high praise for a middle age guy with a bad back).
I fell in love with Montreal and only wish I had had more time to spend and explore in this remarkable city. Montreal met and exceeded my expectations -- cultural, aesthetic and gastronomic. The in-city bicycling is fabulous; as is walking and exploring the many incredible neighborhoods. I plan to return. And when I do, I hope to again have the pleasure of staying at Monique's in Mont Royal-Plateau.
Thank you so much, Veronique!
I stayed at Veronique's house for one week and she was a great host. She is a very nice person, helps you with any problem you have and gave me some good recommendations for searching flats or where to go. Also it was alway nice to have a chat with her in the kitchen.
The house and the room are very nice, not far away from the next Metro Station or Avenue Mont Royal, for me one of the best streets in Montreal.
For me the stay at Veronique's was a good start into my new live in Montreal and so I can only recommend her as host.
Veronique was a great hostess and we really enjoyed staying here. She was helpful and friendly without being overbearing. The room was pleasant and the common spaces were very nice. It is a neighborhood of row houses that is within five to ten minutes' walk of plentiful shopping and dining options and about 10-15 minutes' walk from the nearest subway station. This is a great place to stay for spending time in the Plateau area and is also convenient to other parts of Montreal by foot or metro.
Jolie petite maisonnette idéalement située, tout est accessible à pied ou en métro. Dommage d'être venue à cette saison et de n'avoir pu profiter du jardin! Véronique est accueillante et sympatique!
