Small private studio apartment in the backyard of an east side bungalow. Walking/biking distance to downtown and tons of east side bars and restaurants. Easy access to Town Lake trails.
We have a very cute, small studio space with kitchenette and full bathroom in the back of our home. Futon and desk fold away for more room.
Borrow our bike and peddle down to Town Lake, 1/2 mile away or downtown (1 mile) or walk to many of the east side bars. If you haven't experienced the East Side of Austin, you're in for a treat! Hip "Weather Up" bar just two blocks away. Bars and restaurants of the Rainey Street district an easy 1 mile walk. Convention center is a 1 mile walk. East 5th & 6th bars and restaurants are within a 1 - 2 mile walk. We walk downtown all the time!
2 blocks to the bus stop, 5 blocks to the train stop that takes you right to the Convention Center.
Charming quiet and safe Holly street neighborhood. Separate alley entrance. No smoking and no pets. WiFi available.
It was perfect for a one night stay and convenient. It was cold though with the one little space heater.
Elizabeth welcomed me when I arrived. She made sure the birdhouse was ready a little early because I was in Austin earlier. Upon arrival, she shoved me how the gates worked and gave quick suggestions. Other than that, she was pretty hands off but available if needed.
The birdhouse is perfect for one person. It's small, but has all that you need. The location is great. It's a short walk from Town Lake where I took a lovely sunrise run. it's also close to all the sixth street bars and restaurants.
Had an excellent time at the Birdhouse. Affordable, safe and close to everything. Elizabeth was very accommodating and available for any requests. It is definitely what real estate agents would call "charming" but for a 4 day trip like ours where you are trying to maximize your time out in the city, it was exactly what we needed.
Our one night stay at the Birdhouse exactly fit our expectations. Check in was very simple, and the accommodations are exactly like the listing. The location is fantastic; so if you don't mind the small size, and want to be close to everything in the city, the Birdhouse is perfect for that.
We booked 4 nights in the birdhouse and would have to describe it as an average experience.
Elizabeth is a responsive and kind host who was available whenever we needed her. The location is not far from 6th street nightlife.
However we didn't feel that in comparison to other air BnB of the same cost that it provided the same standard / experience. The futon mattress is lumpy and uncomfortable and the white paper blinds on window's and patio doors were stuck with tape and didn't cover them entirely, so it was bright and not very private.
It has good potential but to us it felt a bit neglected.
the birdhouse was in a safe and convenient location. We had plenty of privacy in the birdhouse and Elizabeth was very accommodating. She even lent us her bikes to take out on the town for the duration of our stay. The only slight drawback was that sometimes it got to be a little too cold as the weather dipped down into the thirties. Although there are two space heaters in the bird house, we felt it may be unsafe to keep them running overnight. Overall the bird house was very quaint, convenient and budget friendly, especially if you are going to be in Austin for a few days and want a convenient location. Elizabeth also has 4 very friendly, sweet dogs who are a pleasure!
GREAT location! Near Salt & Time Restaurant and Whispers bar. Very very small space. We needed a place very late in the day and Elizabeth was quick to respond and accommodating. Got pretty chilly at night so luckily we were provided 2 space heaters. Bathroom is beyond tiny - it was like camping!
