About this listing
The Cedar Chalet at Jay is a one-of-a-kind property located just 6 miles down the road from Jay Peak Resort. It’s hidden away on 9 acres of forested land with its own creek, spring water pond, and hiking trails. We invite guests year-round to take a step back in time inside our classic Alpine style chalet and enjoy a little piece of paradise that’s a home away from home.
Only 6 miles from the Jay Peak Ski & Summer Resort and just one mile from Montgomery Centre, the Cedar Chalet is located in the northernmost area of Vermont, conveniently on a recently renovated public road that’s always plowed in the winter. The famous Jay Peak Resort prides itself on being the snowiest mountain on the East Coast -- it often snows here even when there’s nothing in more southern areas. The resort also includes a brand-new top-of-the-line golf course and clubhouse, a year-round ice skating rink, and most recently, a year-round water park!
The large chalet boasts cathedral ceilings, a spacious wrap around deck with views onto the spring-water pond, creek, and the rest of the beautifully landscaped property. Outdoors you’ll find a spring pond (which provides fresh drinking water in the Spring/Summer/early Fall), several lounging areas, trails for hiking, snowshoeing or even x-country skiing, a graveled driveway with a large parking lot for all your cars, and a firewood shed with plenty of wood for the fireplace.
The Cedar Chalet sleeps a maximum of 12 people. All bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows, towels) is provided.

We shared this house, for a 2nd year (February vacation), with dear friends. We had a fantastic time! This is a lovely cottage, on gorgeous property. Behind the house is a wonderful forest, and open fields, for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. And, Jay Peak is just about 8-10 minutes away.
The owner, Katy, is very easy to work with - and we really enjoyed being back! Thanks again for a terrific vacation.
I stayed with a group of friends for a long weekend of skiing at Jay Peak and we all really enjoyed the place. It's just a short drive to the slopes. We did have an issue with the hot water not working in one of the two bathrooms on the first day but Katy responded quickly and then it turned out it had resolved itself by the next day. The place was really cold when we arrived which is understandable as it was about -15F outside but Katy had left the firewood ready to go in the fire place and it didn't take too long to heat the place up.
Had a lovely time for a week over New Year's. Everything was exactly as described, and Katy was very accommodating. Would definitely visit again!
Your house was just as you described it in your ad and worked out very well for our 2-family group. We especially enjoyed the layout and all the space, the comfortable beds, the fireplace, the wifi and the pool table. And the location was great, just 10 minutes to Jay Peak.
It is a country house, on a well and septic system, which all of us are used to. However, had we known that you shouldn't drink the tap water because it's high in iron, we would have brought some from home. We found the bottled water the second day we were there, but we think you should mention this in your ad so others can come prepared.
All in all, we really enjoyed your lovely house and came away with many good memories.
This is a really unique chalet and our group had a great weekend. Katy was very helpful throughout the whole process.
Our only concern were some minor cleanliness issues (dirty sink, mold in the coffee pot, dead flies in the corner of the carpet) which I'm sure can be remedied with a more rigorous cleaning between guests. Also, the pool cues need replacing.
This place is exactly what it claims to be. I spent a weekend here and had an amazing time. There is ample outdoor space and it is so close to Jay Peak, and is conveniently located close to many amenities.
I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy place to stay!
This was a great house for our two families - with 5 children and 4 adults - to all stay together. 6 miles from Jay Peak, and right on the main road to the ski resort. It is on a lovely piece of land, and the hiking, snowshoeing and skiing nearby is wonderful. We cooked in most nights, but there are also two pretty good restaurants right nearby. The huge stone fireplace and pool table were perfect for us to all congregate around after a day of skiing. We would certainly rent from Katy again. It was lovely.
