About this listing
Enjoy 2-story floating house in America's Cup Harbor on San Diego Bay, views of the harbor and downtown. Close to airport, ocean, beach, Sea World, and downtown. Short walk to great restaurants, bars and SD's best seafood! Includes kayaks and bikes.
Sleep on the water! Enjoy this unique opportunity to stay at Pelican Place - a floating home on San Diego bay. Enjoy this 900 sq. ft floating 2-story home, on the bottom floor - a large bedroom with queen size sleep comfort bed, bathroom with shower, plus utility room with washer and dryer. Top floor has kitchen, living room with a sofa bed, (sleeps an additional 2 people comfortably) 1/2 bath, plus outside patio deck to enjoy the view. Pelican Place is a floating home so you will be moving with the gentle waves of the bay.
We were honored by appearing in San Diego Magazine as the #8 hidden secret spot in all of San Diego (Sept 2014 issue). This is a unique place in San Diego and there is not another place like it for rent.
Our home has been a big hit with couples, families, and especially children. Kids love the paddle boat and you will see seals swim by the house often. We do prefer children to be over 5 years old and can swim enough to be safe if they fall in on accident. We want everyone to be safe and have a fun relaxing vacation that you will always remember.
Guests will have access to a paddle boat (seats 4) and 2 ocean kayaks to explore the bay. Or walk around the boardwalk to great restaurants, bars, and the best seafood in San Diego. Only 1.5 miles from airport and 3 miles to downtown. Plus have access two 2 bikes where you have paved bike routes to downtown and many other of San Diego's best attractions.
Interaction with Guests
We live in San Diego near the Bay. So during your stay, if you have any questions or there is a problem, we can be there to help.
Driscoll's Wharf is a working wharf with fresh seafood coming in daily. Point Loma Seafood, Pizza Nova, Jimmy's Famous Tavern are all on the boardwalk just a short walk away. Great deep sea fishing tours take off right from this wharf, too.
You are N. Harbor Boulevard... A major route that connects downtown to the airport and Port Loma (Nimitz Blvd. to Sunset Cliffs and Ocean Beach communities). Their are lots to do on the boardwalk (walking), and great shopping and restaurants a mile away at Liberty Station, and major shopping on Rosecrans Boulevard and Sports Arena Blvd 2.8 miles away.
Other Things to Note
Once again Pelican Place is a floating home, so you are on the water. The bay is protected so the waves are minimal, even in stormy weather. But you will feel the movement, we do want to remind you that if you are prone to seasickness, this could be an issue.
There is free parking all around the harbor. The floating home is on Pier 7. Turn at sign to Driscoll's Wharf and drive down to second building. 4918 N Harbor Dr. Pier 7 is through an opening in the building on the other side. Park anywhere near the pier.
The downstairs bedroom is roomy with a queen size sleep number bed, and even a small sleep space great for kids under 10 under the stairs. There is a sofa bed upstairs that can sleep an additional two and we even have a twin size air mattress with a built in pump that you can use upstairs or downstairs.
Checkin is at 3:00pm
Checkout is at 11:00am
But can be flexible:
If there are no other guests checking in or out on the same day, we will happily allow you to check in early and stay later. We will let you know.
There is no smoking, of any kind, in or around the house, on the deck, or on the pier. You need to leave the pier area to smoke. Smoke only in areas where you are standing on concrete.
We allow up to 4 guests in the house. You are not allowed to have more than 4 people in the house at one time without permission from us.
We want you to enjoy yourself. Of course respect our house and respect the other people who make their home on the wharf and in the harbor. Be quiet and courteous. Sound travels a long distance on the water so people even on the other side of the harbor will hear you if you are making noise at night. Be quiet coming or going on the pier after 9pm. Remember other people live here year round as their only home. Please do not jump off the upper deck into the water and remember that you will be told to leave if you are bothering the neighbors or not respecting our house and property.
