Welcome to our sunny little cottage in Fort Myers' historic Dean Park neighborhood. Built in 1924 as a Sears Kit Home (Model: The Walton), she's got nearly a century of stories in her walls and enough modern updates to keep things comfortable.

Spend the day exploring the Downtown River District, then come home to relax in the hot tub. Whether you're here for a weekend getaway, winter escape, or extended stay, we hope you'll settle in and make yourself at home.

The space
We fell in love with this house because it has something many newer homes don't: character.

Built in 1924 from a Sears kit, the cottage still retains much of its original charm while offering the comforts most guests are looking for today. You'll find a fully equipped chef's kitchen, gas fireplace, comfortable living spaces, and a private hot tub for unwinding after a day around town.

Bright, cheerful, and unapologetically itself, Rowan's Retreat isn't a luxury resort or a brand-new build. It's a historic Florida cottage that's been thoughtfully updated and lovingly cared for over the years, and we think that's exactly what makes it special!

Guest access
Our cottage is located in Fort Myers' historic Dean Park neighborhood, just a short walk from the Downtown River District, where you'll find restaurants, shops, galleries, live music, and waterfront attractions.

Bringing a boat? A public boat ramp is located just a few blocks away.

Using "Dean Park Historic District, Fort Myers, FL" in your preferred navigation app will give you a good sense of travel times to local attractions throughout Southwest Florida.

Other things to note
The cottage sits next door to The Master Craftsman, another of our historic vacation homes.

A quick word about old houses: this one is more than 100 years old.

The floors aren't perfectly level. The wood creaks. Some doors have a personality all their own. If you're looking for modern perfection, this may not be the place for you. If you appreciate historic homes with character and a good story, you'll fit right in.

This is a non-smoking property. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property.

Exterior security cameras monitor select outdoor areas of the property for safety and security. There are no cameras inside the home.

We do our best to accommodate early check-in and late check-out requests whenever possible, but we generally can't confirm those requests until the day of arrival or departure. If an early arrival or late departure is essential to your travel plans, we recommend booking the additional night to guarantee availability.

Neighborhood highlights

A short walk north of downtown Fort Myers sits five blocks of preserved Southwest Florida history. In Dean Park, one of the first planned subdivisions in Lee County and now listed on the National Register of Historic places, most houses were built between the First World War and the end of the Florida housing boom in the late 1920s.
