A nice blog post about us:
"...Then when you are back in Bali and hit Ubud, you should stay with Jawi House and Painter...You get a degree of loveliness which is hilariously superior to the other places along Monkey Forest Rd, a few of whom were offering me discount rates of $110 US for tattered old rooms in their oversized resorts. I know you can get accommodation much cheaper than this (we stayed in another place for $12/night on our last trip) but for what you get, this place was lovely– air con and fan. A bath, a sitting area, a welcome drink (I love Indonesian welcome drinks, ymmv), free wireless, and brekky. And down a quiet laneway off the main drag. We were sorry to stay only 1 night, because they were so awesome, and we had that experience that you have pretty regularly in Indonesia when someone is so delightful and wonderful to you and you wish you could just apologise directly for not being able to personally sustain their excellent business model, which probably goes largely unappreciated because they don’t have a very big sign, nor an advertising budget. And please (I say in imaginary monologue) don’t stop asking people if they were just ‘walking walking’ a la the way one would say ‘jalan jalan’ in Bahasa, because that is really quite adorable and somehow more accurate in tone to describe the kind of meandering one does in Ubud, than the singular version. So keep it up Jawi House and Painter."
Private room with own ensuite bathroom and private access.
Interaction with Guests
You can call or sms me anytime when you need something. I am usually at home or in the area. I am usually close by to help you.
Airport pickup is available - IDR300,000
Most of central Ubud is within walking distance, but hiring a scooter to get around is very reasonably priced and makes things very easy for you. If you have a bike, you can park it in my courtyard.
There are also plenty of taxis you can pick up on the road to get you around town.

Me and my partner loved the room! We had an amazing experience, our host was very humble and friendly. She was always apologising for the construction happening behind us, but it didn't bother us. The room was small and super clean! Loved the breakfast and her family drove us everywhere for decent prices. Would highly recommend. And we hope to come back. ☺️
Putu's place is down a quiet alley in the heart of ubud. The place was adorable and incredibly clean. The best part of the whole thing was putu herself. In a place known for some of the kindest people on the planet, she is was above and beyond friendly. She made us feel very at home and almost as if we were a part of her family. Phenomenal breakfast, best banana pancake we had in Indonesia. As there was a holiday happening while we were staying, putu prepared us a traditional festive meal just out of the kindness of her heart. Highly recommended
I had an amazing time staying at Jawi house. When I come back to Ubud this will be the first place I look for accommodation.
It is right on Monkey Forest Road (AKA the center of everything) but a 1-min walk down an alleyway so that you don't hear any street noise from your room (just the pleasant birdsongs of nature).
The room was absolutely spotless, with great natural lighting and space to spread out. In fact, the room may have been bigger than my old studio apartment in Los Angeles!
Putu was a very gracious host, frequently bringing us extra small 'Balinese treats' such as fresh fruit, babi guling (Balinese roasted pork), and traditional Balinese snacks. She also gave us a lot of very valuable advice on things to do/see, where to get laundry done, info on the local markets etc.
Putu made my stay in ubud so enjoyable and smoothl. she is a wonderful host and person. Goes out of her way that you have everything, helped me find a good and cjeap laundry, helped me with a phone card,...her husband is such a nice person too.
The room is big, spotless clean, bed is comfy, ac and wifi work very good, shower had good pressure. Enjoyed the tatsy breakfast on my private balcony. You cant be more centrally located and even if the house is behind the famous laughing buddha restaurant/bar you will enjoy a good nights sleep.
Will be back next year in june. Very happy i found this place and to have met putu and her lovely family
Putu was lovely and easy to deal with. The accommodation was very clean and the room was huge!! Excellent value and very happy with the experience. Will definitely stay there again.
Putu is very very nice, and her breakfast is so delicious that I ate all of them everyday. Putu's house, which is clean and tidy, is located at the centre of Ubud, so everything is on hand. She can help you to order a car to travel on the island, and the price is reasonable.
Находится на центре Убуда и очень тихий. Очень хорошо!
Putu made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. We were feeling a bit unwell and she took great care of us, making us rice and bringing us tea. The space is lovely and clean, much airier than it looks in the photos. The location was great, right off one of the main roads of Ubud. All in all, very good value and a lovely caring host. Thanks for everything, Putu!
